Your Day Is An Offering

Your Day Is An Offering

What would it look like if we treated each day as an offering to God? In today's episode, we're joined by Richelle Alessi and special guest Jackie Roman, as we explore the idea of dedicating our everyday, ordinary routines—our work, our meals, and even our moments of rest—to God as an act of worship. 00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:04.000
You're listening to my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1298.

00:00:04.160 --> 00:00:07.360
Today's Sivo is called your day is an offering.

00:00:08.560 --> 00:00:46.170
Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Wednesday. My name is Rashell Alessi, and I've been hinting at a surprise that I had this week, and I'm so glad that we made it to Wednesday because I actually have a guest for the rest of the week and her name is Jackie Roman.

00:00:46.250 --> 00:01:04.370
And I'm going to let her introduce herself a little bit and share more of anything she wants to share. But I want to say a couple of words about her before we get started because she means a lot to me. Ms. Jackie. I like to call her Ms. Jackie out of respect, but she has been a pillar in my life for the last couple of years.

00:01:04.930 --> 00:01:37.819
And her words, her intentionality and her life, the life that she lives is truly an inspiration to me. And she is the person that I know that if I need to have a really hard conversation, I can go to her because her wisdom is. And her relationship with God gives me confidence that I'm in a safe place for that. And so, Ms. Jackie, I honored you today. I thank you for your wisdom in the life that you live. And I'm really excited for the people to hear what you have to say because what you carry is powerful, is strong, and is wise.

00:01:38.140 --> 00:01:41.819
And I know that our listeners are going to be blessed by you this week.

00:01:41.900 --> 00:01:45.180
So would you like to introduce yourself? Yes. Thank you.

00:01:45.180 --> 00:01:52.629
Rachelle. I purposely did not look at you while you talked so that I would not get tearful and cry. So I.

00:01:53.030 --> 00:02:36.580
I think it worked. Yes. I just want to introduce myself. I am like she said, my name is Jackie Roman and we have been attending Metro Life church for now, 24 years. Wow. I believe that is right. Jonathan and I have been married for 22 years and we have two kids, Adriana, who is 17, and Isaiah, who is 12. Wow. And they're pretty awesome. Yes, they are. And I, I know that you guys have been deep diving into prayer recently, so I just wanted to impress or to share something that God impressed on my heart for

00:02:36.580 --> 00:02:40.379
1 2

00:02:40.379 --> 00:02:59.379
12 in the message Bible and it says so here's what I want you to do. God helping you take your everyday ordinary life, your sleeping, eating, going to work and walking around life, and place it before God as an offering.

00:02:59.780 --> 00:03:03.300
Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him.

00:03:03.620 --> 00:03:30.750
Don't be so well adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out, readily recognize what he wants from you and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well informed maturity in you. And then

00:03:30.750 --> 00:03:41.030
12 it says, don't burn out. Keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert, servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don't quit in hard times.

00:03:41.520 --> 00:04:07.360
Pray all the harder. You know, other than the last verse, you wouldn't think that this has much to do with prayer, but let's look a little bit deeper. We live in a fast paced culture. It's all about constant stimulation from the moment we wake up to the moment we actually close our eyes. Notice how I didn't say to the moment we get in bed because unfortunately even that sacred bedtime that is meant for rest has become scrolling on the phone.

00:04:07.659 --> 00:04:32.699
And I'm sure the Apostle Paul wasn't thinking about screen time when he wrote this, but the enemy has been trying to distract us from the beginning of time and this is one of the tools he's using on us now. So we've been doing coaching sessions with our staff and we learned the phrase winning our mornings. What does that look like for us now? Well, let's look back at verses 1 2. Take your everyday, ordinary life and place it before God as an offering.

00:04:33.350 --> 00:04:44.550
Wake up and let the first thing you do be connecting with God before your mental checklists start. Say good morning to your father, present your day to him, and ask him for guidance and direction.

00:04:45.029 --> 00:05:18.490
If you're going to grab your phone, let it be to open your Bible app and read His Word. I promise you that this morning Win will set your day up to win. Win in your thoughts, win in your actions, in your speech, and winning your testimony to others. It also opens you up to hear from God throughout your day. I love the part of the verse where it says readily recognize what he wants from you and quickly respond to it. But how do we know what he wants for our lives if we aren't taking the time to ask him and to sit and listen.

00:05:18.970 --> 00:05:26.329
Being connected to God from the very beginning of the day to the very end is what will set you apart from the culture of today.

00:05:26.689 --> 00:05:45.009
And that is what keeps you fueled in a flame. And yes, it won't always be easy because sometimes life happens or we let life happen to us. But verse 12 says, don't quit in hard times. Pray all the harder and you will see how God sustains you and equips you.

00:05:45.569 --> 00:05:56.939
Amen. I love that you say that. What will set us apart is our connection to God and. And in such a world where we're so connected to our phones.

00:05:57.259 --> 00:07:41.360
You said it. From even going to sleep, it's become a scrolling time. We don't know how to rest. We're. So you think that your mental break is your phone and other things, when in reality we would feel so much better and we would feel like we're winning in so many different areas of our life if we really just would commit. Yes. To letting ourselves be connected to God and let that be our all from the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep. And even in that time, throughout the day, being intentional about just saying a quick prayer, a quick word. And I. I love that you're talking about this because you and John are the example of this for all our listeners. I want you guys to know that every single time John and Jackie pray, it's like heaven has a direct line to John and Jackie. And so I want you guys to hear these devos for the rest of the week and really apply them because Miss Jackie is coming from a place of not just knowledge, but of years of doing. And because of that, that's why your faith is effective, that's why your prayer time is effective, and that's why Heaven listens to you when you go to pray for others and for yourselves. And so thank you, Ms. Jackie, for being with us this week. I'm excited and I hope you guys would get excited about everything else and the wisdom that you're going to bring. So can you pray us out? Yes, definitely. Lord, we thank youk so much because we can come to youo just as we are and you'd are so pleased with it because youe just want to develop a relationship with us. And Father, as we open our eyes every morning, let that be our first thought to connect with youh and for you to connect with us.

00:07:41.759 --> 00:08:29.620
Let our everyday and everything we do bring in be an offering to you, one that we can be proud of at the end of the day. When we put our head down on our pillow to rest, let us look back on our day and say, wow, that was an awesome day because I spent it throughout the whole day with my Father. And Lord, we thank you because when we offer ourselves up like that, you in turn reward us with your goodness and your faithfulness and your joy and your peace that takes us throughout the day. And what can be a mundane, everyday, ordinary day turns out to be an extraordinary day, one that we couldn't have never imagined for ourselves.

00:08:30.829 --> 00:09:11.100
And Lord, we thank you because you see it all and you know it all and you are so faithful, Jesus to our lives and we pray all of this in your name, giving this day that we have started to you and we will give you all the glory through it all. In Jesus name, Amen. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.

00:09:11.179 --> 00:09:16.139
Until tomorrow. We pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
