Stephanie Alessi MuinaStephanie Muina here, and I am very excited to dive into our devo today. I told you that in the middle of all of our Bible study, I would be giving you a word of encouragement. So let's dive into it. Ephesians 1, 4 through 5. It says, For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. So today's devoids inspired by something I witnessed today, probably an hour ago, where I was invited into the Zoom call that was actually the court hearing for my friend officially adopting her baby girl. And it was profound. I first want to say if you are somebody who has adopted a child, hats off to you because what a journey. And also what a reflection of God's mercy and love for you to adopt somebody into your family. It was beautiful to watch. And the words that this judge used to, it's all the legal jargon behind adopting a child. All I could hear was how we have been adopted as God's children. That's all I heard. So of course I was bawling. I wish that I was a little bit more decent. I wish I was a little more professional, but I couldn't. I I just bawled because the way that my friend looked at this baby girl and said, I choose you. I want to go through all the legal hassles of making you my child because I love you. All I saw was God in us. You know, guys, we have been adopted into sonship, into daughtership with God because of Jesus Christ. We now have the right to his inheritance. What was the inheritance for only a small group of people has now become our inheritance, which means we get to live in God's promises. We get to live in God's blessings. It's not hidden from us, it's not given to somebody else, it's preserved for us. We now have access to him as our father. And not only that, God looks at me and sees a daughter. The way that my friend looked at her new adopted child is how God looks at you and I. The judge said she is not only qualified to be your daughter, she just is. And that usually in those adoption processes, the barrier could be qualifications. I adopted you because the law says so. I adopted you because I spent nine months fostering you and now you're just mine. I adopted you because you needed parents. Those are the qualifications that can become a barrier. But this judge, this person of the law, looked at my friend and her husband and said, Don't get stuck at those qualifications. This little girl is your daughter because she is. God is your father because he is. You are his child, not because you earned it, not because you acted like his child, not because you look like his child, but because you simply are. You accepted his mercy, you accepted his love, you believe in him, you declared it with your mouth and with your heart and your mind that he is Lord. So bam, you are his child now. We don't have to have the perfect qualifications, and we may even mess up every once in a while, but God still sees you and I as his children, which means he loves us, which means we can gain his inheritance. And the other thing that the judge said that just left me baffled, he said, This child is completely severed from their former guardians. And I just started to ball. I just lost it because I was lost, but now I am found. I was blind, but now I see. Guys, we didn't just accidentally walk into this life with God. We were once in a life of darkness. We were once in a life that was ruled by the enemy. But when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God became our ruler. God became the one who controls my life and guides me and protects me. I have been adopted by God. And the the things from our past, the enemy, the things that used to have control over us no longer do. They have been completely severed from our lives. The the enemy does not tell you who you are anymore. The enemy does not determine your future anymore. And the enemy does not rule over your mind and your heart. His reign over you has completely severed in the name of Jesus. So here's my encouragement to you today. Because you've been adopted into sonship, because you are now a daughter of the Most High God, walk in your freedom, walk in that boldness, walk in that truth. The enemy is gone, the past is gone, it has been completely severed from your life. There's no memory of it anymore. Because you chose God. And God chose you. You ran towards God. So God is running towards you. And he's the only one who has control over your life from now on. He's the only one who makes up your identity. He's the only one who is your foundation and your provider. So lean into that. Believe that. Walk that out and don't let anything take away your sonship and your daughtership of God. Let's pray. God, we thank you for your love that fought tooth and nail to take us out of the pits of darkness to become your children. You took the keys and went down into hell and defeated death so that we can walk in grace and mercy and be completely redeemed from sin, God. So we thank you for this redemption power. We thank you for the transformation work that you performed in us, Father. And now we gladly rejoice in being your sons and daughters. The past is gone, the enemy has been silenced and defeated. And now we stand as your son and your daughter because of Jesus Christ. And we walk in boldness, we walk in freedom, we walk in joy, we walk in love because of you, God. And we don't allow anything to divert us away from your will. We walk in obedience every single day with you. And in Jesus' name we all pray. Amen.
