With My Whole Heart

With My Whole Heart

How do we hold onto trust when tragedy strikes and life feels impossible to understand? In today’s episode, host Lauren Alessi invites us to journey together through heartbreak and uncertainty as we reflect on Proverbs 3:5—"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." We’ll discover as a community what it means to trust God fully, even when we’re faced with devastating news, like the recent floodings in Texas. Together, we’ll explore how to surrender our anxieties and embrace faith, remembering that even when answers are hard to find, we’re never alone in our struggles.

Join us in this moment of prayer and devotion as we lift up those affected and encourage one another to seek God wholeheartedly, leaning not on our own understanding but on His unwavering love.

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:10.720
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1307. Today's episode is called With My Whole Heart. Hey there.

00:00:10.800 --> 00:01:02.979
We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Hello, everyone, My name is Lauren Alessi and I am your host for this week. Today's episode is called With My Whole Heart because we are talking about trusting God with our whole heart. I actually was dedicating this whole week to confidence and kind of during the week, we, me and my sisters talked about, you know, the events happening in Texas and the floodings, and we thought it would be nice to sort of dedicate some time to just talk about those tragic events happening in Texas with the floodings and the many lives lost.

00:01:03.460 --> 00:01:46.799
I know we know some people personally who either attended that camp as a young person or we know people who have family members who they know, people who lost loved ones in the floods. And so wherever you're at today, if you are affected by these floods directly, or if you have loved ones who are directed by these floods directly, just know that we are praying for you, that we are standing with you, we are sad for you. But more than that, I wanted to sort of dedicate this episode to these tragic events because it's these sort of things when so many lives are lost that there's this lack of understanding where we can so easily go, okay, what's happening, God?

00:01:48.079 --> 00:02:14.280
How do things happen like this? And we don't blame God and we don't get angry, but it's very easy to sort of question a lot of things, especially when it comes to children's lives being lost and so many lives being lost. This is why this verse of the day or this episode is called With My Whole Heart. But the verse of the day is Proverbs 3, 5, and it says this, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

00:02:14.840 --> 00:02:55.379
And maybe you're like me this week where you're seeing all the events happening in Texas and you, you kind of can't even look at the news, you can't even read the articles because it's just so difficult to understand and it's so hard to even fathom events like that happening. Maybe you're not like me and you need to read the news and you need to know everything happening, but it's still affecting us the same because it's just so tragic. Regardless of where you stand in this, whether you're directly affected and you know people or whether you're not affected, but it's still devastating to you, let's remember this. We trust in the Lord with all of our heart, and we don't lean on our own understanding. I can speak for myself. It's.

00:02:55.379 --> 00:03:13.900
It's very easy with an issue like this to say like, this is so tragic and to really not be able to understand how something like this could happen. But I think it's important to not focus on my understanding how I would perceive the situation, but to regardless trust in the Lord.

00:03:14.599 --> 00:03:29.240
Because life doesn't always make sense. Not everything has answers. Not everything really seems so easy. And the truth is we live in a world where news is being thrown at us so many times a day, and we hear stories that probably we were never meant to hear.

00:03:29.719 --> 00:03:40.759
And tragedies happen. Tragedies are happening left and right. But here's what the Bible tells us to do. To trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding.

00:03:40.840 --> 00:03:55.030
This means not to lean on our own thoughts, not to lean on our own mindsets, not to lean on our own habits. If you're someone who gets anxious very easily, if you're someone who needs to know on the all the answers, don't lean on your own way.

00:03:55.430 --> 00:04:17.410
That's never worked before. So lean not on your own understanding, but regardless, trust in the Lord with all your heart. Let's pray. Dear Lord, we just pray right now first, Lord, for everybody who is directly affected by these floodings in Texas. God, Whether they've lost loved ones, God. Whether they're just in Texas and it's affecting their homes, God.

00:04:17.490 --> 00:04:36.050
Whatever the situation may be, God, we just pray for them right now, God. We pray that you are with them. We pray that angels are about them, God. Angels are about their minds, God. Angels are about their bodies, God, that you are protecting them, body and soul, God, that you are standing with them, you are in agreement with them, God.

00:04:36.129 --> 00:04:39.850
And Lord, we just pray right now that. That you are with Texas, God.

00:04:39.850 --> 00:04:43.089
You are with the people affected by this tragic event, Lord.

00:04:43.649 --> 00:04:50.769
And Lord, we also pray. Help us when tragedy strikes, when things like this happen, Lord, help us to trust in you.

00:04:51.250 --> 00:05:02.529
Not just with half of us, not just with just our heart, but with our heart, our mind, our bodies and our soul. And help us not to lean on our own understanding. In Jesus name we pray.

00:05:02.930 --> 00:05:25.420
Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
