You're listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast, episode 1560. Today's Devo is called Wisdom in Trusting. Hey there, we're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Well, happy Friday, everybody. We made it to the end of the week. And again, I pray that you were encouraged, you were blessed by this last week as we've been diving into values that we can learn from wisdom. What are wise values that we can take away? And so let's just quickly go through all of them. You know, we we started with listening, then we went into waiting. Wisdom and listening, was ways, wisdom and waiting, wisdom and hoping, and wisdom of integrity and in integrity. And I know that one was a little bit longer, but I hope it blessed you and challenged you because as you can tell, I'm very passionate about wisdom and integrity. But today we want to talk about the wisdom and trusting and how to trust God. And what's unique about these values and wise values is that they are all connected to one another. Waiting, listening, trusting, hoping, integrity, all of it, it's all like one beautiful symphony that ties together in harmony with one another, which shows us that they are characteristics of our Heavenly Father. If they were total opposites, they wouldn't be from him. But they work in tandem together and they create just this beautiful harmony of values that I hope all of us have in our lives. So I wanted to end with one of the most famous verses in our Bible, which is Proverbs 3, verse 5, that says this Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Come on now. I love this verse so much. I think I quote it to myself the most. But truly, trust is at the center of wisdom. We are wise in the eyes of the Lord because we trust in his wisdom. We make wise decisions because we trust in his wisdom. We trust in the Lord, and that is at the center of wisdom. The issue with trust is that it's easy when life is easy, but it's hard when life is a mess. It's hard when your prayers feel delayed, when you feel like the door that you've been waiting to open, and it's been ordained to open, but that door closed. And it's hard when your uncertainty or uneasiness starts to grow in your life. Yet this is where we have to lean in here because Proverbs tells us in the midst of the uncertainty, you need to trust. It doesn't say trust God with what you know. He doesn't say lean on your understanding, that's why you trust in the Lord. Look at all that you know about him, so now you have to trust him. No, it's saying, trust in the Lord and lean not on your understanding. What it's saying is look past your understanding and trust him. Look past the things that make sense to you and trust him. Because it wouldn't be trust if you understood. It wouldn't be going on a ledge for the Lord if you knew what was under you. That wouldn't be true trust. And where it's tricky in Christianity is because we'll say, God is so faithful because look at all that he has done. We'll say, God is so good because of my children. God is so good because he brought my husband. He brought my wife, he brought my this and my business, and then this. And look at God is so, God, I love you because of everything that you've given me. And then there are seasons where you don't see the things happen and you don't see the gifts or you don't see the blessings in your life. And that's where we go back and go, well, is God really good? And this is where we have to look past our understanding. This is what that means. That even if God isn't physically moving in your life that you can see, you've still got to trust Him. Because we have to remind ourselves, we don't see everything, we don't have the full story, we can't see the full picture. There are things that are happening in our lives that we're not a part of, and God is making them all work together for the good. You know, I think it's hilarious. There's a verse in the Bible that says, um, for all things will work together for the good of those who love him. And us believers, we all go, I receive that verse. All things are gonna work together for my good because I love him, right? Well, you and I have different goods. I have a way that life would be good, and you have a way that life would be good. They could be the polar opposites. So, how is God gonna make it out for my good and my version of good and your version of good at the same time? We have to realize God is working out a lot of people's goods. And we got to trust that maybe in this season it might not look that he's working it out for me, and it might not look like, or it might look like he's working it out for you, but he's not working it out for me. But this is where we don't lean on our understanding and say, God's got to work out everybody else's good. And so, God, I trust you. I trust you in the midst of disappointment. I trust you in the midst of the door shutting. I trust you in the midst of the delay. That delay could be the greatest blessing. That door shutting could be my greatest blessing that I look back and say, my life was forever changed for the better because that door closed. I have I have a moment in my life where I'm like, thank God God didn't answer that prayer. Or thank God he answered it in the opposite way that I wanted. Because I I live the life that I live today. I'm the woman that I am and I have what I have because God didn't open that door. In fact, God shut it hard, and I'm so grateful for it. But I did not hump the understanding. My understanding back then was God needs this door to open. I know God, and this door should open. So trusting God means that we believe his wisdom is greater than our perspective. It's greater than what we see. His wisdom is greater than that. And it also means that we have to place our future, our faith, our relationships, our fear, and our plan. We have to put it in his hands. And we may not know what comes next, but we have to trust that God does. And God sees the full picture. The God who leads with wisdom can always be trusted. God leads with wisdom. We can trust him in that. So I have two questions for you today because I thought about them and they were just too good. But question number one, to wrap up our week of values, where do you need to surrender control? When it comes to listening, when it comes to waiting, when it comes to hoping, integrity, and now in the midst of trusting. Where do you need to surrender control? And then lastly, what would trusting God look like for you? Right now, what does trusting God look like? Whatever that is, lean into it. And I'm believing that the Lord will reveal it to you. The Holy Spirit's gonna speak to you today on both of these things. And I just pray and encourage you to act on it. Let today and this week's devos, let it be more than just words that go to our ears. Like it said, let it speak to your heart and let it change you. Let it lead you to change and to repentance and into greater success with living in the Lord and let it lead you ultimately to wisdom. Because that's what this week is about. So let's pray as we close out this entire week. Father, we just thank you. God, we choose to trust you today, even when we don't understand the path ahead, even when we don't understand what's in front of us. God, help us trust in your wisdom, help us trust in your faithfulness, and help us trust in your character. We thank you for it all in Jesus' name. Amen. So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
