Hello, everyone. My name is Lauren Burgos, and I have been your host for this week. I've so enjoyed hosting this week. I really love reading out of the book of James. I'm just going to continue reading through it because I love it for myself. And reading out of James 3 was really, really just unique and fun. I'm someone, like I mentioned before, that like kind of talking a lot or leading with my words or saying something I don't mean. That hasn't been a problem because I'm somebody who's more of a processor. But what is my problem is I'll process and process and then I'll explode and then I'll say something. And then I can't even say, like, oh, well, I didn't mean it because I've processed. So I do mean it. And then that's terrible. So I really love this chapter because I think it it doesn't just have to do with people who are like super loud and just super talkative. Like, no, it has to do with all of us and it's challenging and equipping in for all people, is what I'm trying to say. And now we're talking about wisdom, which I think is great. And uh we're reading out of James 3, 17. Let's end this week strong. Let's read about wisdom that comes from above. In James 3, 17, it says this but the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. I added that verse 18 in there because I want to touch on it later. But we've been talking a lot about how to tame the tongue, how not to speak blesses, blessings and cursings, whatever, out of the same tongue, and then leading with wisdom and not so much feeling the need to lead with words. Um and here it's like, okay, but where is the source of that? Because we've also talked about the source. Where does that wisdom come from? Here, the Bible is letting us know that the wisdom comes from heaven above. It doesn't come from earthly things, it doesn't come from your friends or your parents, even though it can come from your parents, absolutely, or like, you know, elders in your church who have been there and lived life a long time, who have been through some things. But wisdom overall comes from heaven. And it is pure, it is peace-loving, it is considerate, it is submissive, it's full of mercy and good fruit, it's impartial and sincere. And I want to close this here because this is a little bit different than what we've been talking about like through this whole week. But sometimes people will give you like advice or tell you something, and you're like, I don't know if that was from God, and you it can make you feel anxious. And like anxiety or worry, that's never from God. So you always kind of want to check that and and make sure like anything from God should always make you feel at peace and not the complete opposite of peace. But also, let's remember this here here. The word is saying that wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, and then it's peace-loving, considerate, submissive. So it's kind of giving us a checklist here. And I want to advise everyone listening, and even myself, but this is a good checklist here. When we receive wisdom, or when we even listen to a teacher that is spreading the word of God, and we always just want to go, my God, this person's so smart, this person's so wise. Is that wisdom pure? Is it peace-loving? Is it considerate? Is it is it submissive to the word of God, or is it just that person's opinion? Is it full of mercy and good fruit? Is it impartial and sincere? Because if not, then that's not wisdom from above. That's not God-given wisdom from heaven. That's as Proverbs says, like someone trying to be wise in their own eyes. Here we see that wisdom that God gives from heaven, it's pure. And it it's peace-loving, it's considerate, it's submissive to the word of God, it's full of mercy and good fruit. What does that mean? That like someone who my my father said this the other day, someone who gives parenting advice that their kids hate them and their kids are terrible, you're not gonna take their parenting advice because they have bad fruit. But if someone comes like, you're not gonna take someone's advice that's like, learn the opposite of me and do this. You're gonna be like, I don't want to listen to how you parent. But somebody that raises great kids that you enjoy being around their kids, that their kids enjoy them, you're gonna be like, I wanna know how you raise your kids, or I want to take your marriage advice because you and your spouse are still married and you get along. That's good fruit that the Bible is talking about here. It's wisdom full of mercy and good fruit. And it's impartial and it's sincere. And verse 18 says this peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. Now we've talked a lot about the tongue, and I just want to say I think we live in a generation that's like the complete opposite of peacemakers. Even in the Christian community, it's like, you said this about the Bible, and that's wrong. It's like, okay, like whatever. Um, but somebody who's a peacemaker who's like, that probably wasn't their heart. They probably didn't mean that. Somebody who sows in peace reaps a harvest of righteousness. And I just want to brag about that because when I was in first grade, my my teacher told my mom that I was a peacemaker. No, I'm kidding. But let us all strive to be peacemakers in our own lives. Not everything has to be a quarrel, not everything has to be a fight. I think that just goes back to what James 3 talks about with the tongue and how everything else can be tamed, how every other creature can be tamed, yet that no human being can tame the tongue. Instead, let us strive to gain wisdom from above and let us strive to be peacemakers among our friends, among our community. So I hope you enjoyed this week's podcast. I hope it was challenging. I hope it brought peace. I hope it brought wisdom. I hope it we learned a lot from it. And not only that, I hope not only did we gain something from it, but we learned a lot more about God's character and about who God is through reading his word. Let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you for this week, Lord. We we pray for the weekend ahead, and Lord, we give you this weekend ahead. If there's anything in us that we need to fix, maybe it's the way we talk, Lord. Lord, help us to do that. And Lord, help us lean on wisdom from above and help us to be peacemakers in order to do that. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
