Hey there, we're the Alesssies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

Richelle Alessi

Good morning, everybody, and happy Tuesday. Welcome back to My Morning Devotional Podcast. My name is Rochelle Alesi, and I get the privilege of being with you this week. And I want to make a quick announcement before we dive into our Devo. If you have any men in your life that maybe have been listening to this podcast and want to dive deeper into more manly topics, we actually have a new podcast now called Men's Morning Devotional Podcast. And I am so excited because my husband, my brothers-in-law, and my father-in-law are actually the ones that are going to be sharing every single week with Men's Morning Devotional Podcast. So make sure, please go on the links, find it, send it to all the men in your life. I promise it's going to be a blessing to them. Maybe your husband, and now you have one, your husband has one, or your sons or your uncles, whoever it is, please share it because I promise you, as much as this podcast has been a blessing to you, men's morning devotional will be as well. So just wanted to mention that. Let's get into our Devo. And today I want to read from Proverbs 3, 5 through 8. I'm going to read a couple of more verses, not just one, and you'll see why. And it says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, submit to him, and he will make your path straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Like I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to bring some verses that talked about the promises of the Lord when we commit to trusting him. Because trusting the Lord in hard times is not easy. It's so much easier said than just actually doing it. And there are some verses in the Bible that just truly show us, like some of these, what the Lord does for you when you put your trust in him. Yesterday we said that putting our trust in the Lord is never a waste of time. And today we see why even deeper we've all read about trusting in the Lord with our heart and not leaning on our own understanding. To submit our ways because he will make our path straight. We should always submit our ways to the Lord because he will help us make sure that what we do is right, is righteous, and that it's good for us. And it says to not be wise in our own eyes, to not put our trust in ourselves, but to trust in him. And guys, it's so beautiful. This verse we almost like skip and not realize that it's part of this entire chapter. And here's why. Because this will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. I don't think this is just a metaphor. I think the Lord is telling you here when you trust in me, when you do not lean on your own understanding, when you push past what you see in front of you, what the world is telling you, it's so hard to let go of control when things are going hard. Because the first thing you do is, what can I control in this situation? And almost it brings you a sense of safety because you already feel so unsafe that you find something that you need to cling to to feel safe. And usually it comes with what can you control? And you start to control some areas or even try to make things happen for yourself because you don't think the Lord can come through. And maybe you don't even mean to say that, but maybe your actions are saying that. And it's not in your heart of hearts to say, Lord, I don't trust you. It's just such a hard or uncertain thing that you are like, I need to do something about it. And yes, you do. And in the moments of uncertainty, when you're waiting for the Lord, there is a part we play a hundred percent. We stay faithful to the Lord, we stay righteous, we continue working, we don't just give up. But guys, when we put our trust in the Lord in these hard times, not only like we talked about yesterday, will he give us joy and peace, but he will give us health. How many of us feel sometimes like our bodies are giving up on us? We're tired, we haven't slept, anxiety and fear are taking over our sleep. All we can think about is our to-do stuff that's happening, and there's like you honestly, you feel like your body's given up. But when you trust in the Lord and you let the peace and you let the joy that the Lord is filling you with do its work, when you let the power of the Holy Spirit give you hope. We talked about this yesterday, and you do not lean on your own understanding, but you put your trust in the Lord, that Lord says that He will bring this brings health to your body and nourishment to your bones. It's so important that we do not forget about what happens with stress in our physical bodies, what it can do to us. But isn't it beautiful that even giving it all to the Lord in return, he says, I will give you health and nourishment to your bones. The Lord wants you healthy in every way. Spirit, soul, and body, not just your mind and not just your soul, but your body as well. So if you're listening today and you feel tired, your body feels exhausted, your mind and your soul, let the word of God refresh your bones today. Let the word of God bring health to you today. As you accept the Lord's blessings, as you trust in Him and you say, I'm letting go of control, I'm going to give it all to the Lord, I'm going to let the joy of the Lord fill me and his hope and let that overflow. In that overflow, you will experience nourishment to your body as well. So let's pray today. Dear Father God, thank you for your promises. Thank you for your goodness. And I just pray that the word of the Lord today, as we let go of control and accept and accept you and your goodness and we trust in you, Lord. I pray that we get to experience the nourishment of our bodies through you, Lord. I pray that you will fill us with health and peace over our minds, our souls, and our bodies, Lord. Be with us today and just bring healing in every area of our body that needs it, Lord. Be with us because you're good. We're gonna put our trust in you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
