00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:14.400
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1372. Today's Devo is called what do you hear? Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.
00:00:14.400 --> 00:00:36.179
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My morning Devotional podcast. Well, welcome back everybody. Happy Tuesday. I hope you enjoyed yesterday's devo on confident faith.
00:00:36.420 --> 00:00:55.259
And this whole week we are talking about faith. And what we're talking about for the whole month of October is overcoming the areas of our life that we may struggle. And this week we're talking about overcoming fear. We're looking fear in the face and we're saying we are choosing faith over fear. And
00:00:55.259 --> 00:02:01.450
17 that says this. Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message. And the message is heard through the word about Christ. If we ever want to look at where does faith come from? If we ever wonder, God, how do I grow in my faith? How do I, how do I build my faith? Well, Paul is saying it right here that faith comes from hearing, hearing the message, but the message is through the word of God. Faith comes from hearing the word of God. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm a very black and white person. So when I hear something like this, I see it in a practical way. But then I ask myself, if faith comes by hearing, then where does fear come from? What does the fear or the doubt that I am experiencing or I'm struggling with, where does this come from? How do I receive it? Well, I think honestly, it comes from the same place.
00:02:01.849 --> 00:03:43.219
Now, I don't think it comes from hearing the word of God, but I think it comes from hearing as well. I think it comes from seeing. I think it comes from what we are surrounded by and what we are feeding ourselves every single day. You see, we, we have a constant 24 hour news cycle on our TVs that we have in our tele, in our homes. We have a 24 hour news cycle that is on our phones that we can literally listen to. We can look up something at any point in time throughout the day. If we are bored at work or if we're in the car stuck in traffic and we shouldn't, but we pick up our phone or if we're at the dinner table and we're kind of Done with the convers. We want to pick up our phones. We have access to the entire world in a matter of seconds, to the point where I can look up anything right now if I wanted to, right here in the studio, and I could find the answer for any one of my needs. If my knee is hurting, I can figure out why it's hurting in a matter of seconds. Well, with all of that access and that information and we have the powers of the world at our fingertips, that's if we're not careful and we don't have boundaries and we don't have structure and we don't protect ourselves from all of that knowledge and that information, we will find ourselves very fearful because all we hear and all we see is bad news. I was watching the news the other day with my parents right after work. It was like the six o' clock news cycle. And it was just one bad story after another after another after another. And I thought one was worse and then the next one was worse. And.
00:03:43.530 --> 00:03:46.090
And then I thought that one was bad and then the next story was bad.
00:03:46.490 --> 00:04:18.779
And I look back and in 30 minutes I heard about five devastating situations and terrible life stories about people that are things that I did not need in my day. And you know what it caused me to do? I got really afraid. I got really afraid of what could happen to me, what could happen to the people around me. You know, even with the recent events that have happened, sometimes you look at those videos and you start to think, God, if this is the way that our world is going, I'm afraid of what's going to happen next year. I'm afraid for my children.
00:04:19.660 --> 00:05:19.920
You see, if we are just going by what the world gives us and we're only listening to what we hear on Instagram, what we hear from that podcaster, or what we hear from even the people around us, fear can come from what we hear as well. But this is where, when we are in a situation where we're fearful or we're doubtful, we have to open up the word of God and start to read the Word of God. We have to go to church every Sunday and hear what the preacher is saying and speaking. Why? Because if fear comes from what I am listening to, then faith comes by hearing from the Word of God. And if we are fearful, we need to open up our Bibles and read the very words of Jesus, read the very words of our God. Because the Bible is the inspired word of God. It is something that he breathed into the minds and into the spirits of every single disciple. And every single man and woman of God throughout the entire history of the Bible. That is something that comes from the Lord.
00:05:19.920 --> 00:05:45.410
And so if we're in a season of fear and of doubt, the one resource that we need to be listening to is the word of God. Because faith comes by hearing the word of God. If you are afraid of what the world is coming to, if you are afraid of what's happening with your children, if you are doubtful, if God can move, open up your word today. Open up your word and ask the Lord God, what does your word say? Because I know my Bible.
00:05:45.810 --> 00:05:49.490
31 says, if God is for us, who can be against us?
00:05:49.970 --> 00:05:53.769
13 says, I can do all things through Christ
00:05:53.769 --> 00:06:42.050
9 says, My grace is all you need for my power is the greatest when you are weak, you see immediately even in me. My posture has already changed from fear to now faith that God, as long as you're with me, I can do all things even if people are against me. God, you are still for me. And God, your grace is all I need. When I am weak, you are strong. So Father, we just open our ears, we open our minds and we open our hearts to your word today. God, if there is any fear in any of the listeners and any of our family members all across the world, if anybody's listening today and is full of fear and full of doubt, full of anxiety, Father, I just pray that your words would wash over
00:06:42.050 --> 00:06:49.250
31, if God is for them who can be against them, would empower them. I pray that
00:06:49.250 --> 00:06:52.610
13 that they can do all things through you.
00:06:52.930 --> 00:07:00.100
You strengthen them. Let that give them the power they need. Let them get that. Give them the courage that they need in 2 Corinthians
00:07:00.100 --> 00:07:03.180
9 that your grace is all that we need.
00:07:03.660 --> 00:07:17.819
Your power is the greatest when we are weak. So let that empower us. Let that give us the strength that we need. Because God, we have overcome. We can overcome with our faith in you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
00:07:18.540 --> 00:07:39.500
