We’re so grateful you’re continuing to tune in with us this week. Due to some technical difficulties, we don’t have video for these episodes, but we’re thankful we can still gather around God’s Word together and continue these devotionals with you.
In this episode of the My Morning Devotional Podcast, Lauren Alessi reflects on Acts 17:26-28 and reminds us of a powerful truth: God is not distant from us.
As Paul preached to the people of Athens, he spoke about God not only as Savior, but as Creator—the One who formed every nation, appointed every season, and designed humanity to seek Him.
One of the most powerful lines in this passage says:
“For in Him we live and move and have our being.”
This devotional beautifully reminds us that we were created for relationship with God. He is not removed from our pain, disconnected from our struggles, or absent in our questions. He is near.
Lauren shares how easy it can be to try to “fix” things on our own before bringing them to God. Whether it’s fear, guilt, pride, or simply feeling overwhelmed, we sometimes distance ourselves from the very One who wants to help us most.
But Acts 17 reminds us that God created us to seek Him, reach for Him, and find Him.
Key reminders from this episode:
God is closer than we think
We were created to live in relationship with Him
We don’t have to carry our struggles alone
Lauren also encourages listeners to stop hiding their burdens from God and instead invite Him into every area of life—especially the places where He feels far away.
The same God who created us also understands us completely.
He already knows the struggle.
He already sees the pain.
And He still invites us to come near.
If there’s an area of your life where God feels distant today, let this be your reminder that He has never stopped pursuing you.
Reach out to Him.
Pray honestly.
Invite Him into the situation.
Because He is not far from you.
Tune in and let's embrace the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives!
