Undeserved Love

Undeserved Love

Where would we be without the love of God? In today’s episode, host Gaby Calatayud invites us to pause and reflect on the undeserved, unwavering love that God offers each of us. Together, we'll explore the meaning of Romans 5:8 and learn how receiving God’s gift of love can transform our daily lives. We'll discuss the importance of moving beyond a sense of unworthiness to gratefully accept the love that’s been freely given, no matter where we find ourselves today.

Let’s come together as a community for prayer and devotion, opening our hearts and expressing gratitude for the boundless love God pours out on us all.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1392. Today's Devo is called Undeserved Love. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.320 --> 00:00:29.280
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast.

00:00:29.519 --> 00:00:55.539
Well, welcome back, everybody, to the My Morning Devo. And I'm excited that we get to continue in this week's devotional. This is Gabby, your host for the week. And this week we're talking about the gratefulness, or how grateful we are for who God is. Yesterday we talked about his character, but today I want to talk about his love. Man, am I grateful for the love of God? Where would we be without his love?

00:00:56.100 --> 00:01:03.500
I just want us to take a minute in our five minute devo and ask ourselves, where would I be without the love of

00:01:03.500 --> 00:01:18.340
8 says this. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. I love this verse.

00:01:18.629 --> 00:02:04.930
This verse is the ultimate picture of how great, how deep, how intense, how constant and how undeserved the love of God is for you and I. Because what Paul is saying here is, he's saying God is showing you how much he loves you through this point. The, the, the picture. If you want to understand, if you wanna, you wanna fully see how much God loves you, he's saying, while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you. While you were still in the sin, while you were still in the shame, while you were still in the mess, if we want to call it, Christ still gave his life, Christ still put himself on the cross and he died for you.

00:02:05.650 --> 00:02:32.620
I think another picture of this is not only did Christ himself take the shame and take the sin and take the penalty and the sacrifice upon his back and his body, but God watched his Son and God sent his son to do that while we were still sinners. So it's not only Christ taking it on his back, it's God sending his son, Christ to put that on his back. Why?

00:02:33.180 --> 00:02:59.189
Because God loved us too much. He needed to save us. God wasn't going to put it on us. He put it on Jesus so that we didn't have to carry that. And if that doesn't rock us today, and if that doesn't show us the Love that God has for us, man, to me, what this, this just shows me is God's love. I don't deserve an inch of it.

00:03:00.469 --> 00:03:21.400
I don't deserve any of it. But yet he freely gives it. Maybe I've done good things, maybe you and I have done things, but at the end of the day, I still don't deserve it. And that's the heart posture that I want to have. God, I don't deserve your love, but I receive your love. You see, I think a lot of believers get stuck at the I don't deserve it.

00:03:21.879 --> 00:04:03.780
Oh, God, I don't deserve it. I don't deserve it. I don't deserve it. It's kind of like when you're giving a gift at Christmas and that one family member goes, no, no, no, I can't, I can't, I can't. I don't want to take that gift. No, no, no, no. And it's sweet, it's beautiful because you, you do want to come humbly, in that moment when someone's giving you something that you don't deserve. It's, it's, it's understandable when you feel like you're undeserving. But at a certain point, you got to receive the gift that that family member's given you. We can't stay in a posture of, no, no, no, I don't deserve that, so don't give it to me. No, no, no, that's not for me. No, I'm not able. I'm not worthy enough. You see, God calls us worthy, and that's why he gives us his love.

00:04:04.659 --> 00:04:52.939
We don't call ourselves worthy. He does. So at a certain point in our life, we have to stop and go, God, I received your love, and God, I'm grateful for your love. So I challenge all of us today to take this Tuesday, take this day wherever you're at. If you're at work, if you're at home, if you're picking up your kids from school, if you're having dinner with your family, if you're going to see a movie tonight, I don't know. I know on Tuesdays they give you half off movie tickets. Take today to really tell the Lord how grateful you are for his love and just receive it. The best way to appreciate a gift from somebody else is to receive that gift. So let's receive the love of God today. Let's be grateful for it, and let's pray together. Father, thank you for your love.

00:04:53.660 --> 00:05:15.699
We are so grateful for the love that you have for us. That while we were still sinners, you sent your son to die on a cross for us. And while we were still sinners, Christ took it on his back and died for us. Father, we don't deserve it, but we receive it and we thank you for the love that you pour out on us. God, we don't know where we would be without your love.

00:05:17.129 --> 00:05:20.970
We wouldn't have the family we have. We wouldn't have the careers that we have.

00:05:21.769 --> 00:05:32.889
Father, we would not have salvation without your love and we thank you for it. So remind us all today to be grateful for your love. In Jesus name, Amen.

00:05:33.529 --> 00:05:54.500
So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow. We pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
