Today's Devo is called the Truth of the Bible.
00:00:08.240 --> 00:01:19.290
Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody and welcome to my morning Devotional podcast. This is Friday, it's a great day and we are gonna dive in into more about the Bible. And I really hope that this week has blessed you and everything that we've talked about. I know it seems like a lot of information, but we actually have show notes for you that you can take home and you can have with you that you can go back and re listen to some episodes and have the notes with you. And if you have any questions still after this, please send them to us because I do not mind doing another week with my husband as we continue to answer some of these questions for you so you could feel confident in what you're reading and you feel good about it. So let's dive in into our last day.
00:01:19.530 --> 00:01:33.530
Well, recently we were talking about like, what would be the one lens, the verse that you kind of look at the entire world through, and I told you that mine, my favorite verse is Psalm 119, verse 160.
00:01:34.090 --> 00:01:48.500
It's a lot of verses for one chapter, but it says the sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever. And so, you know, the truth is the Bible is truth.
00:01:49.060 --> 00:02:14.789
And people want to talk about, you know, is the Bible or, sorry, is truth absolute? Or, you know, is it more contextual? Is it more relative? Is it black and white or is it gray? And the answer to all of that is yes. You know, truth is all of it. There are aspects of truth that are relative. There are aspects of truth that are absolutely. The only way to get to truth itself, though, is the Bible.
00:02:15.349 --> 00:03:17.800
And what David is saying in Psalm 119 is that in order to get to truth, I need every single one of God's word, every word that he said. I need it all collectively to get to truth. Because if I try to interpret the New Testament without the Old, I won't arrive at truth. And if I try to make sense of the Old Testament without the New, it won't make any sense and I won't get to truth. If I try to interpret my life by just reading one of the four Gospels and pulling Jesus from just one of the four Gospels, because you have a full and accurate picture of Jesus in the four. But if I just look at one, I might think he's a little bit more this way or a little more that way. I won't arrive at truth unless I know all of it. And so the reality is, is that if you want to get to truth, you need all of God's word. It does not contradict each other. It's like a coin. There are two sides that make up a single coin.
00:03:18.120 --> 00:04:14.229
Sometimes when we use, like, the whole perspective thing, we're forgetting we're looking at the same thing. If you and I have a different perspective, neither one of us is true. In fact, what's wrong with my perspective is that it doesn't have yours with it. And what's wrong with your perspective is that it doesn't have mine in it. If we're trying to look at a statue and I'm in front and you're behind, we're both looking at the statue, yet we're not seeing the full thing. You will not be able to see the statue without my perspective, and my perspective will not be able to see the statue without yours. That's how Scripture operates, is that I need all of Scripture in order to get to truth. Yeah. Know, people will look at, is it grace or is it works? The answer is yes, I need both, because they're the two sides of the same coin. And that's what the Bible is. I need to read the Bible over my lifetime to finally arrive at truth. And this is one of the things that R.C. sproul says.
00:04:14.469 --> 00:04:24.610
The Scriptures never err. They're never in error. So if I ever get to this place where I start to feel like I don't understand what's true, the Bible is true.
00:04:25.009 --> 00:04:28.850
And so people ask, is it a roadmap? Sure. Is it a handbook? Sure.
00:04:28.850 --> 00:04:32.449
A love letter? You bet. It's all of those things and more.
00:04:32.769 --> 00:06:51.129
But what it absolutely is, is it is truth. So that's why it can have one meaning, but multiple applications. Because truth is singular but at the same time, within truth. The way I can apply truth to my life is very, very relative. It's why I can say that the Bible was somehow not written to me, and yet it was also written for me. It's why I can feel totally comfortable in knowing that the Bible tells me all I need to know, even if I don't get to See all that I would want to know. It is absolutely why the Bible can be both the best work of God and man. And it. It is also why a library of books written over 1500 years by 40 different people, most of which never even met each other, can still somehow be a single book with a single truth. Because the reality is, is that every one of God's word has to be represented in order to get to truth. And every one of his righteous rules will endure forever. So what do we want to tell you this week? The reality is this. You can read your Word and you can trust it. You can start and you can love it. And as you read it over your lifespan, you'll understand more and more and more to end. Rochelle does something really funny whenever we're watching a TV show. I've never seen the show or the movie before, but she'll sit and she'll ask me, why did that happen? And I'll go, I don't know. I'm watching it with you for the first time. I do do that. But it is funny because when you get to the end of the show, for the most part, it will answer the questions you had. Yeah. And if it didn't, it's only because it's making room for a new season. In the same way, when you read the Bible, you're not going to understand at first, but when you get to the end and then you do it again, and then you do it again, you'll start to find that all your answers have been found, all your questions have answers. So our greatest advice for you this week would be just start reading your Bible. Amen. So can you pray for us? I absolutely can, Father. I just thank you that the same way that they would have a relationship with anyone they care about in their life, they would also have a relationship with your Word. So they can have a relationship with truth. Lord, truth is ultimately a person.
00:06:51.528 --> 00:06:55.209
And you are that person. You are truth.
00:06:55.610 --> 00:07:13.930
Your Word teaches us about you. So every time we read our word, it's like when we tend to a garden. Sometimes you might be having to take care of the pests in us. Other times you might have to be pruning. Sometimes you might be fertilizing us, and sometimes you might be harvesting as a byproduct of your Word.
00:07:14.170 --> 00:07:44.819
But what we always know is every time we read your word, we will be watered. So we thank you for that. In Jesus name, amen. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in. Today, we pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow, we pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
