You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1517. Today's Devo is called the Power. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Well, welcome back and happy Tuesday, everybody. This is your host for the week, Gabby, and we are talking about the Holy Spirit. This week we're going to read from Acts 1, verse 7. This is in the NIV version, and it says this. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and. And to the ends of the earth. Somebody just say this right now. Repeat after me. You will receive power. Yesterday we talked about the gift that the Holy Spirit is, and you might be thinking, okay, well, what gifts do the Holy Spirit bring me? I've heard about spiritual gifts, I've heard about gifts of the Spirit, all of that, right? But I want to break down the gift that the Holy Spirit is, because I do feel like a lot of us believers don't tap into the Spirit as much as we should. And we don't. I don't want to say take advantage, but we don't lean on the Holy Spirit in our lives because the Holy Spirit has given, has been given to us as a gift. When we receive Jesus, we're filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit has tools and things that we can use that I don't think we use all the time. And one of them is power. The Spirit gives you power. Now, what power are we talking about? Is it physical power? Is it physical strength? Is it mental power? Well, the Greek word used here is dynamis. Dynamis, however you want to pronounce it. But it can refer to power displayed in miracles or more generally, the ability of God or people to carry out their purpose. God will enable the apostles to accomplish his work wherever he and whatever it is. Wherever and whatever it is. What power are we talking about? The power that. That Jesus is talking about here, or it's talking about here in Acts? It's a power that's talking about the ability that God has given you to go out and carry your purpose. It is the power to do. Let me say that again. It is the ability to do the work that God has called you to. So let me ask you, what has God called you to? If you're single, then God has called you to your friends. God has called you to remain pure. God has called you to be faithful. God has called you to wait on the right one. If marriage is in your heart and it is a desire for you, God has called you to be faithful at work. God has called you to your job, your boss, your family, your school, whatever it is. If you are married and you have a family, God has called you to that family. God has called you to your job. Really, the same applied to all of us. If you have children, God's called you to be faithful there. So if God is called to do those things, he will give you power in those things. The Holy Spirit is giving you power right now to stay abstinent in this season that you've committed to the Lord that you're going to stay abstinent. The Holy Spirit has given you power or will give you the power to discipline your kids or raise your kids and train them up in the way that they should go. You might think you're powerless as a parent, tap into the Holy Spirit, because we're powerless on our own, but we're powerful with the Holy Spirit. You might think, man, I don't have the mental power to complete this semester at school. I don't have the mental power to handle this relationship. I don't have to. I have the mental power to handle my crazy family dynamics and the struggles that they're bringing me. And I can't sleep at night because my family's insane. The Holy Spirit's giving you the power to accomplish the things. He's giving you the ability to carry out the purposes around you. So many people ask us, well, what am I called to, Gabby? What's your calling? How do you know what your calling is? Look around you. What are you working on right now? Who is in your life? Who are you married to? What children do you have? What job do you work at? What school do you attend? That's your calling. What church do you serve and attend? That's your calling. Your calling is to do the things around you in the name of the Lord in the best way that you can, in full fulfillment that you set your mind on things above and you work hard to accomplish those things to glorify God. That is your calling. We get so stuck in. Is my calling to travel? Is my calling to speak? Is my calling to be a now entrepreneur? And yes, those are things that you can add to it. But your calling is your surroundings and where God has placed you right now. And that's where we need to be faithful. And I love what he says here. At the end of this verse, he said, you will be my witness in Jerusalem and in Judea and in Samaria and to the ends of the earth. You know what that means? When the power of God comes upon you, you will be a witness in Miami, you'll be a witness in Ohio, in New York, and to the ends of the earth. Wherever you live, whatever your sphere of influence is, when you walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, you will be a witness of the Lord. You'll be a witness to your family, to your friends, to your relationships, to your boss. So whatever it is, just know you have a secret resource that unbelievers don't have, and that's the power of the Holy Spirit. If you feel like you're at the end of your rope, call on the Holy Spirit today. Receive his power. He's given you everything that you need to raise that family. He's given everything you need to help that daughter through this rebellious season. He's given you everything you need to help you in your marriage, to stay married or to succeed in marriage. He's given you everything you need to stay faithful in your job and succeed in your job. And he's given everything you need to graduate that class. He's given it all through the Holy Spirit and the power of the Holy Spirit. You are empowered today. So walk in that power. God, we thank you for your power. We thank you that you don't leave it to our own strength or our own abilities and that we can rely on you. Thank you for it all. In Jesus name, amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empowerment you to take on your day.
