The Hardest Thing To Do

The Hardest Thing To Do

What does it truly look like to trust God with every part of our lives? In today’s episode, hosts Richelle Alessi invite us into a heartfelt reflection on one of the Bible’s most beloved proverbs: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” Together, we’ll explore why trusting God can often be the hardest thing to do, especially when life’s decisions and uncertainties pile up. Through real-life stories and encouragement, we’ll learn to pause, seek God’s guidance, and rely on faith even when the answers aren’t clear.

Join our community in prayer and devotion as we encourage one another to trust God fully, align our plans with His wisdom, and experience the peace that comes from acknowledging Him in all our ways.

You're listening to My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1337. Today's Devo is called the Hardest Thing to Do. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.080 --> 00:00:28.960
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

00:00:29.280 --> 00:01:13.370
Good morning everybody and happy Tuesday. I hope that you all are having a wonderful morning or day for whatever part of the day that you are listening in from. But my name is Rachelle Alessi and I am your host this week and yesterday we got to talk a little bit about getting back into rhythms and back to school and how we would need to work heartedly at everything we do and do it for the Lord. But today I actually want to jump in into a beautiful, beautiful proverb. And I've been wanting to do something with this proverb because it's personally spoken to me a lot in the season of life that I am on, which then gave me an idea of maybe doing an entire week on just the Proverbs.

00:01:13.370 --> 00:01:31.709
So you guys know the Proverbs is the book of wisdom. So comment and let me know if this is something you would be interested in. And I know it's only five days and there's 31 proverbs, but maybe we can do something cool with it. So let me know in the comments if this is something that you would like like. But let's get into the proverb for today.

00:01:31.709 --> 00:03:39.780
And I'm reading from Proverbs 3, number 5, and it says trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths. And I'm pretty sure this is probably a verse we have all heard at some point in our lives, have read, have heard in something, Mamni and many devotionals. And I'm pretty sure we might have maybe already recorded an episode with this verse. But as I read this verse a couple of weeks ago, it made me realize that in every season that I enter, no matter how different it is, there's always a new level of having to trust in the Lord. And it's never the easiest thing to do to really trust the Lord and not lean on your own understanding and really acknowledging him and everything that we're doing. And it convicted me because sometimes we make all these plans Based on understanding and things that we see. And we completely take faith out of the equation because as humans, we make it a thing that we have to make happen. And we forget that we have to trust the Lord and. And not lean in our own understanding and just an example to give you and let you in a little bit. My husband and I are currently looking for our next home. We are blessed in the home that we have, but we knew that we needed to start the search for the next. And it's been a new season of having to trust the Lord for more. And it's so easy for us to make all these plans, see what we can afford, and just make and try to understand what we can see and what we think would work. And sometimes we forget to say, lord, are you in this? Are you in the middle of this house? Is this what you have for me? Is this your best for me? Because sometimes we seek a good enough plan because we can see it work out.

00:03:40.180 --> 00:03:54.870
Sometimes the Lord has more for us, and it's hard because we can't see it. But that's when we have to remember that we have to trust him. And. And we cannot just rely on the things we see in the physical, but how about in the spiritual things?

00:03:54.870 --> 00:03:58.629
The things that we cannot see with our eyes, but in the Spirit?

00:03:58.949 --> 00:05:28.720
And it just reminded me that sometimes I need to take a step back and say, is my understanding here wrong? Am I not seeking the lead of the Holy Spirit or the counsel and wisdom of the Holy Spirit in this situation? For many of us, it might be a relationship where we don't see it going anywhere. And we just have to trust the Lord and not lean in what we think is right, but really seek the leading of the Holy Spirit. And when we know that the Holy Spirit has spoken that we have to trust that word and we have to follow it and obey it. It might be in the next job that we're trying to look for, or just a situation, or your next home or your next baby or whatever it is that sometimes we are waiting for it. And the hardest thing is to just trust the Lord. But I encourage you today, go back to this proverb, read it from beginning to end, and let the Holy Spirit really guide you and speak to you and teach you and show you his ways and how his ways are higher, how God's thoughts are higher than ours. And sometimes when you need a need to take a step back and ask the Lord, Lord, are youe in this? And if youf have more, then I'm going to trust yout with my whole heart and acknowledge youe in all of my ways. Not just tell youl, but acknowledge youe and make sure that the things that I'm planning are aligned with youh.

00:05:29.199 --> 00:06:03.350
So let's pray. Dear Father God, I want to thank youk because youe are a good Father and you'd say that yout love to give good gifts to your children. And so I pray for every listener and every single thing that they are believing for from you in this next season, whatever that is. Father, I pray that they will acknowledge you in all of their ways, that they will trust you wholeheartedly, knowing that you are faithful, that you are a good Father, and that you have great things for us on the other side. But all we have to do is trust in the Lord and not lean on our own understanding.

00:06:03.810 --> 00:06:07.490
In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it.
