00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:21.359
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1442. Today's Devo is called Directions Part 2. Hey there. We're the Alessi's a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:51.320
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Tuesday, everybody. Stephanie here, and I'm going to continue in my teachings of the directions of life. I remember like 10 years ago, I was 18, 19 years old, and I just remember not knowing what to do with the next step in life. I was graduating high school and the talk of college was in the air.

00:00:51.320 --> 00:00:54.920
And I also wanted to do something different and go to a church internship.

00:00:54.920 --> 00:01:39.980
So I had a lot of these desires on my heart, but I didn't know what was for me. And I remember somebody in our church sent me an article that was titled what to do when you don't know what to do. And I remember reading that article and it gave me so much clarity of what the next step should be. So that's what I'm praying these DeVos will be to all of you. I pray that if you are in the middle of a crossroads, you don't know what the next step is for you, or maybe one of your friends or family members is in the same position that you can send them these devos, you can send them this Spotify link wherever you're listening and that it will give them the clarity that they need.

00:01:39.980 --> 00:02:27.750
Because I don't believe us as Christians should be wandering without any dependence on anything. We can depend on the Lord to guide us. Like I said yesterday, he tells us yes and he tells us no. So he is your guide and we trust him. And I promise you at the end of this week, you will have clarity of what is next for you to do, or you will at least know where your heart needs to be. So let's dive into this. Today i'm reading from Proverbs 11:14 in the NIV version, and it says where there is no guidance, a people falls. But in an abundance of counselors, there is is safety. So I'm going to talk today about another tactic that has really helped me clarify my next step and life.

00:02:27.750 --> 00:03:04.800
So when my husband and I were setting out to find a house in Miami, it was like reaching a crossroads of what to do almost every single weekend. Because There were so many components involved. And I would do my research. I looked up Dave Ramsey. I looked up people buying houses and what does the real estate market look like and how to handle our money and what kind of house should I be looking for? It was. I was doing all the research, research that I can chat. GBT was my BFF at that time. Okay. So I was seeking out a lot of different opinions, and I like to do that because I just want an answer.

00:03:04.800 --> 00:03:46.620
But sometimes I can't ask for too many opinions and it can leave me only more confused. So what I did was this. I found two people that have the life that I want. They have the homes that I want, they have the marriage that I want. They have the grandchildren that I one day want. They have the health, they have the attitude. And most of all, most of all, they have the relationship with the Lord that I want. They have active, living, breathing relationships with God. They were very involved at my church, too, and they served a lot. They have the life that I would one day love to have.

00:03:46.620 --> 00:04:12.580
But I only chose two couples. And then I would pursue those people all the time, and I would be very transparent with them. My husband and I would take them out to eat, we would go to get coffee, and we would show them all of our plans. We would show them all of our life components to making this decision.

00:04:12.580 --> 00:05:00.730
We would show them the numbers, and then we would just sit back and we would ask for their advice, and we would ask how they got to where they are. And most of all, we would listen. And I had to have the mental control to follow only their advice. I really tried everything to not allow myself to get distracted by other people's opinions. Because, you know, you could be around a lot of people that are the same age as you, with the same amount of experience as you, and they can make a fleeting opinion that can change your entire decision process. And the wise thing to do is to stay on the path that follows the advice of people seasons ahead of us.

00:05:00.730 --> 00:05:15.740
And other people, they would give me tips, but I stuck to my plan. And whenever we reached a crossroads, this house was too small, but it was in our price range. This house was really big, but it was not in our price range.

00:05:15.740 --> 00:05:18.939
I would pick up the phone and I would call that person.

00:05:18.939 --> 00:06:11.839
Because here's the beauty of the way God designed our lives. You don't have to figure out these big life decisions on your own. There are people that God has placed around you, and if you don't see them, pray for God to open up your eyes so you can see them and go get around them and seek out wisdom. The Bible says in Proverbs to do whatever we can to find wisdom. And wisdom comes in the form of people. And I would rather take wisdom from people that have already accomplished what I want to accomplish, and especially people that just obeyed the Lord. So remember, where there is no guidance, we will fall. But in an abundance of counselors there is safety. So I pray that God will reveal to you who's in your life that you can go to to seek out wisdom.

00:06:11.839 --> 00:06:45.629
Let's pray. Father, we thank you that your wisdom is accessible to us and that relationships with the right people are one call away. If we feel like there aren't enough people in our lives for us to call on, I pray that our eyes will be opened or a door will open to introduce us to those right people, God. And Father, if we're in a big church community, I pray that this Sunday we will come across somebody who has the life we want. And it's not out of comparison. It's not to focus on what we lack.

00:06:45.629 --> 00:06:52.750
It's to bring us inspiration. It's to bring us a drive and a vision for the future that we one day want.

00:06:52.750 --> 00:07:00.430
But Father, in this whole decision making process, we obey you, we follow you.

00:07:00.430 --> 00:07:15.240
So if there is anybody that is confused, that doesn't know what their next step is, I pray that you will give them clarity by the end of today of where you are guiding them. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:07:15.240 --> 00:07:37.000
