You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1549. Today's Devo is called the Devil is a Liar. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Thursday, everybody. Stephanie Moyna here. And let me just reiterate, my title is the Devil is a Liar. I just had to say liar to give you extra emphasis. But let's dive into it this morning. It doesn't matter. We don't need to get into the technicalities. I'm reading from John 8:44 and the A in the NIV version. Excuse me. And it says, he was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth. Back it up. Let me clarify. We're talking about the devil here. And it says about the devil, he was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth. For there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Cece Winans has a song where he. Where she says, the devil is a liar and his mama is a liar, if he had one. And I love it. I. I quote that, like, every day. But today I'm going to be talking about how one of the enemy's primary weapons is deception. Deception. Let me ask you guys, if you were going to fight a battle, wouldn't you want to know your enemy's favorite strategy? Because Jesus, he tells us exactly what the devil does, and he lies. Not occasionally, not once in a while. Lying is his native tongue. It's who he is. While God speaks truth, the enemy speaks deception. While God brings clarity, the enemy brings confusion. While God builds faith, the enemy tries to destroy it. The devil spends his spare time whispering lies into the minds of God's people, hoping that if he can get us to believe the wrong thing, he can knock us off our course. I was telling my friend the other day that the reason we always just have to hold each other accountable and text each other Bible verses and call each other regularly to encourage one another and uplift each other is because I truly believe that the enemy, he spends his spare time lying. And if I don't spend my time as a Christian stepping up and speaking truth, then I better believe that the enemy just doesn't plateau. There's never really silent seasons in our life. It's either truthful seasons or it's lying seasons. And those lies just. They get louder and louder over time. But I'm gonna spend my days, I'm gonna fill up my time, filling up my ears and all of your ears with truth from God's words. So just let that be a small encouragement to you today. Let me get back to the devo. Think back to the very beginning in Genesis. The serpent didn't show up with a sword. He showed up with a lie. Did God really say that you can't eat the fruit from that tree? And guys, the enemy, his strategy has not changed. He still attacks with questions, with doubts, with distortions and half truths. Sometimes he'll tell you that God has forgotten about you, that you'll never change, that your prayers don't matter, that your situation is hopeless. Sometimes he'll tell you that God is withholding something good from you. The goal isn't just to make you believe a lie. The goal is to make you act on it. Because what we believe affects how we live. So why does he lie? Because confusion is one of his greatest weapons. If he can confuse you about who God is, you'll struggle to trust God. If the enemy can confuse you about who you are, you'll struggle to walk in confidence. And if the devil can confuse you about God's promises, you'll struggle to live by faith. The enemy does not need to destroy your faith overnight. Sometimes he's content to simply distract it, discourage it, or confuse it. And he wants believers who are uncertain, fearful, and constantly second guessing God's goodness. That's how the enemy wins. But Jesus came to lead us into truth. The devil may be a liar, but he is not the author of your story. God's truth is greater than any any lie the enemy tells you. Any half truth that may sound convincible. God's truth is so much greater than that. Every lie must bow down to the truth of God's word. When the enemy says God doesn't care about you, Scripture says God cares for you. When the enemy says you're alone, Scripture says God will never leave you nor forsake you. When the enemy says, hey, you fail too much. Scripture reminds us that God's mercies are new every morning. The best defense against the enemy's lies is knowing God's truth is knowing scripture. And you can't recognize counterfeit money unless you've spent time studying the real thing. Guys. In the same way, the more familiar become with God's word, the easier it becomes to recognize the enemy's deception. So today, pay attention to the thoughts that are constantly running through your mind and ask yourself, does this sound like God's truth? Or does it sound like the voice of fear, the voice of confusion, the voice of condemnation or doubt? If a thought maybe contradicts what God says about you, then it's a lie. Do not entertain it. In fact, replace it with Scripture. Replace it with truth. The enemy wants to fill your mind with lies, but God wants to fill your mind with truth. And it's up to you what you allow in. Are you going to feed those seeds of lies or are you going to feed the seeds of truth? How do you feed the seeds of truth? By reading his scripture every single day and only having your ears attuned to the Scriptures and to his truth. That's my challenge for you today. Fill your mind and heart and soul with God's truth and those lies will slowly start to quiet. Let's pray. Father, we thank you that you are the God of truth. We thank you that your word is trustworthy and that your promises never fail. Help us recognize the lies of the enemy when they come, Lord, and give us discernment when confusion tries to cloud our minds. Remind us of what you say about us and help us stand firmly on your truth when fear comes. Help us trust you and Lord. Fill our hearts with faith, confidence and peace as we closely walk with you and your Scriptures and in Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven.
