00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:20.480
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1425. Today's Diva was called the Best Hospital. Hey there. We're the Alessi's a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:20.480 --> 00:00:35.469
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Friday, everyone, and thank you so much for tuning in this week. I pray that this encouraged you.
00:00:35.469 --> 00:00:42.909
Thank you for listening to my story. I hope that it brought you some comfort that we are all going through tough times.
00:00:42.909 --> 00:01:23.590
But we are united in one thing. We trust in the Lord. We have faith that he is healing us. He's answering our prayers, and his plan is still at work in our life. And it may not be perfect. There will be setbacks, but it's only to make us stronger and it's only to glorify him and point us to Him. Don't be discouraged, don't grow weary in doing good, but just remain in Him. Today I'm reading from Psalm 84:10, and it says, for a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
00:01:23.590 --> 00:01:27.269
You know, I've been through a lot of ups and downs in my life.
00:01:27.269 --> 00:01:38.230
I've seen loss, I have felt loneliness, I have processed grief, et cetera. And it's funny, because everybody's reaction to these things is so different.
00:01:38.230 --> 00:01:45.909
Some people isolate themselves. That could be me. Some people go crazy. Like, they go party and they try to distract themselves.
00:01:45.909 --> 00:02:08.409
Some people get very angry. I could be like that, too. Some just ignore the problems outright. But I want to share this, this little trick with you. And I'm sharing this with you not because I see this as just a theory, but I really know this as fact because I have seen this happen so many times.
00:02:08.409 --> 00:02:17.219
The best reaction I have seen to hard days is when people just choose to flock to the house of God.
00:02:17.219 --> 00:02:41.949
When I was younger, I went through a tough breakup. I was like 20 years old. I was like a kid. My gosh. And I said to myself, you know, now that I don't have a boyfriend, I'm going to make the church my boyfriend. And I was there every single day, guys, like, every day. Probably the only day I didn't go was, like, on a Saturday. But I was there serving. I was cleaning. I was just hanging out. I was picking up odd jobs.
00:02:41.949 --> 00:03:35.639
I would go to all the staff members and ask, do you need me to do anything today? I would be there writing songs. I would be cleaning the sanctuary. And I absolutely loved it. I made the church my boyfriend. And I was talking to a friend today. Her name is Dez. She got married in her 50s. So she had a long season of singleness. And she always says that the best way to get through those years of singleness is just to devote your life to the church, to be in the house of God and to help out wherever they need a helping hand. I understand that you need your alone time and you need to process and that is fine. I am the same way. But don't stay there in isolation. Don't stay there in the process for too long. Don't stay there in the ignoring phase. Don't stay there in the partying phase. If you're healing from something, try being at the church as often as you can.
00:03:35.639 --> 00:03:43.400
Friends heal, family heals. Going out to the movies and creating fun in your life, that is so awesome.
00:03:43.400 --> 00:03:58.680
But include the church in that formula. Be there as often as you can. First of all, you're going to meet a lot of people that are grieving as well. Everybody's going through stuff in the church. Everybody has stuff that they are facing.
00:03:58.680 --> 00:04:26.050
And second, there's something about living for others that is so healing to do the Lord's work and to take care of his house. It will supernaturally repair you in ways you never thought. It happened in my life, it happened in my parents life, it happened in Dez's life. I know countless amounts of people that found healing in such a different way by just serving at the the church.
00:04:26.050 --> 00:04:30.129
Run to the house of God. Be there every day if you have to.
00:04:30.129 --> 00:04:37.649
Go hang out with the widows, go hang out with the guy who takes care of homeless people. Go talk to your missions director.
00:04:37.649 --> 00:04:52.500
Go serve in the youth group, clean the sanctuary, go to worship in all of the services. Lock up the building if you have to. The house of God is a dwelling place for the Lord. It's a dwelling place for God's spirit.
00:04:52.500 --> 00:05:15.620
So trust me, when you go, you will encounter him in ways you could not imagine. Find a really healthy church with healthy people and if you're hurting, just go there. It's the best hospital you can ever go to. Being around Christians is some of the best medicine you can have. And open up about what you're processing.
00:05:15.620 --> 00:05:34.300
Ask people to pray for you. Surround yourself with the assembly of God's people and watch how it returns you back to who you were in a better version of yourself because you're surrounded by people of God and you're surrounded by the spirit of God. Let's pray.
00:05:34.300 --> 00:06:58.339
God, I pray right now for everybody that could be hurting, for everybody that could be going through a confusing season, for everybody that is waiting on the Lord, I pray for supernatural healing. In Jesus name that, Father, you will open the door to the right group of Christians and to the right church for them to flock to. We cannot do this alone. We need help. So Father, we turn to you, we turn to your Holy Spirit, we turn to your church and we turn to your people. And Father, we pray that your spirit will be in us to open up, to be honest, to be transparent about what we're processing. And I pray that in the next seven days, everybody listening to this prayer will have a supernatural encounter with somebody in their church that they can open up to, that they can be transparent with. That'll bring them healing, that'll bring them back to you, God. That will give them guidance that they've never received before. We were never meant to do this life alone. So God, we are going to pursue your people. And Father, we are walking in faith knowing that you will set up people in our line of sight in our days that will help us and partner with us to move forward. So Father, we trust you and we surrender our lives to you. And in Jesus name we pray.
00:06:58.339 --> 00:07:20.709
Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
