Stretch Before Strength

What does it feel like when life asks us to stretch beyond our comfort zone? In today’s episode, guest Lauren Alessi guide us through the idea of “stretching before strength.” Together, we’ll explore how God uses seasons of stretching—not just to prepare us for greater strength, but to grow our faith, expand our capacity, and ready us for new opportunities of influence and purpose. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 10:15, we’ll discover how spiritual and emotional stretching, while uncomfortable, is an essential part of becoming who we’re meant to be.
Join our community in prayer and devotion as we ask God for courage and grace to embrace growth, even when it feels challenging, and let’s strengthen our faith together.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1287. Today's episode is called Stretch Before Strength. Hey there. We're the Aleskies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.239 --> 00:01:09.959
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Hello, everyone, my name is Lauren Alessi, and thank you for tuning in this morning. It's gonna be a fun week. We're talking about stretching your faith, growing your capacity, but at the same time becoming stronger. When I kind of think about this image of becoming stronger, stretching your capacity, I can't help but think of like, exercising and working out. I really actually enjoy working out. I know that sounds crazy, I don't love running, but I do enjoy working out. I enjoy going to the gym, taking my time there. But something that's really important when it comes to exercising and increasing strength is stretching.
00:01:10.439 --> 00:01:36.560
And a lot of people will let you know if they've, you know, are trainers or exercise, you know, fiends or whatever, that if you don't stretch before or after you work out, it can actually increase injury because stretching is an important part of gaining muscle. And so that's why I'm like, I emphasize and I'm obsessed with stretching every single time because one, it's just nice and relaxing, but it's an important part of exercising.
00:01:37.120 --> 00:01:55.650
So we're going to talk about that today, about how God, he wants us to become stronger spiritually, mentally, emotionally. But before he does that, he's going to use a stretching in our faith to show us things he's never shown us before, to use us in ways he's never used us before. Our verse of the day is 2 Corinthians,
00:01:55.650 --> 00:02:06.730
00:02:07.049 --> 00:02:14.729
00:02:15.930 --> 00:02:29.689
00:02:30.810 --> 00:02:45.689
00:02:46.810 --> 00:03:12.500
00:03:13.229 --> 00:03:41.439
00:03:41.919 --> 00:04:03.199
00:04:04.000 --> 00:04:41.740
00:04:42.379 --> 00:04:53.180
00:04:53.740 --> 00:05:04.439
00:05:04.759 --> 00:05:52.689
00:05:52.769 --> 00:06:04.850
