Strength In Many

Strength In Many

When decisions have to be made, do you go it alone? Or do you seek assistance from others? In today’s episode, host Gaby Alessi invites us to reflect on the importance of seeking counsel and support, especially on a day marked by remembrance and unity like 9/11. Together, we’ll learn how wisdom grows when we lean on trusted advisors, how God brings victory through our connections with others, and how healing unfolds in shared faith—whether we’re facing life’s everyday decisions or navigating moments of national significance.

Let’s join together in prayer and devotion as one supportive community, lifting each other up and seeking God’s guidance in every step.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1354. Today's Devo is called Strength in Many. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Well, good morning, everybody. Good afternoon. Whatever time you are listening to this Devo, I just pray that we're all having a great day. And, you know, today is a significant day because it's the day that we remember what happened on 9, 11 years and years ago as we honor and remember the events that took place. And I know our community and our family here at My Morning. It's a big community of people and we span all throughout America and even outside of America. I just, I'm so grateful for this community that we have here.

00:01:05.500 --> 00:01:57.590
But I also know because of our large audience, we have a lot of people that were probably affected by this day. Whether it was a family member or a friend or a distant family member, maybe it was an uncle, you know, however, or whoever in your life was affected by this or if you were affected by this. We just want you to know that we remember and we see you and we are praying for you. This day was not an easy day and it marked our country for forever. I remember even being a little girl when this happened. I think I was one year old and I obviously couldn't remember the day, but I've never known a day without 9 11. I can't remember one day of my life where this didn't happen. And this wasn't in our review mirror. So I just take the time on this podcast to tell you we're praying for you. We continue to pray for our nation.

00:01:58.230 --> 00:02:05.590
And if your family was impacted by this, if your even older family members were impacted by this, we are praying for you.

00:02:05.909 --> 00:02:09.669
You know, there's a lot of listeners that maybe weren't even born when this happened.

00:02:10.240 --> 00:02:28.879
So we have to remember this. We have to bring this up because of, of what happened and the impact it had on our country. And we'll never be the same. And you know what? God is making all things new, and God uses even the worst of situations to make us better. I want to read from Proverbs 11 today, and I think it's

00:02:28.879 --> 00:02:32.719
14.

00:02:32.719 --> 00:02:59.810
And it says this for lack of guidance. A nation falls, but victory is won through many advisors. First of all, I think since 911 happened to today, we have seen that America has experienced victory, that we have come out victorious even through that event. From that moment, what looked like a defeat, we have experienced victory.

00:03:00.370 --> 00:03:21.520
But I also want to speak to you today and use this verse as an example or how we can learn from this. I remember there was a time back at the beginning of my basically career or the beginning of my job here at the church. I was hired as a youth director, and I think I was two years in, and we had a certain situation with a student that we had to handle.

00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:47.740
And for the first time ever, I just got kind of confident in my role. And I felt like, you know, I can handle it on my own. And so I handled the situation as I saw fit. I didn't consult anybody, I didn't call anybody until the situation was almost handled. So I almost handled the situation, or it was in the middle of being handled. And then I chose to call my oversight, which in this situation is my dad and my brother.

00:03:48.620 --> 00:03:54.060
But I called my brother in and I said, hey, I just want you to know I handled the situation. I did this, I did that. It's all good.

00:03:54.460 --> 00:03:57.979
And the first question he asked me was, gabby, why didn't you call me?

00:03:59.090 --> 00:04:05.009
And I can't tell you what it is. You know, maybe it was just because I felt good about myself. I wanted to prove myself.

00:04:05.650 --> 00:04:09.409
But I did choose to handle something without counsel.

00:04:10.050 --> 00:04:24.209
I did choose to not receive advice from those around me and to do it on my own. And what ended up happening was the situation started bad, but it became worse because I didn't get people on my side and I didn't get help.

00:04:24.759 --> 00:04:31.480
And thank God. God worked it all out. We called the right people. We handled it. I learned from a very, very bad decision.

00:04:32.360 --> 00:04:42.839
But the biggest lesson I learned that day is that there is victory in counsel. There is victory through advisors and advice.

00:04:43.480 --> 00:04:50.519
That when we do go to people and we ask them their advice, there is always gonna be good that comes from that.

00:04:51.170 --> 00:05:35.920
It's always the best decision to go in and say, hold on, let me just run this by my mom. Let me just run this by my friend. Let me just run this by my pastor before I make a decision. Let me run this by somebody. That's where we see victory when we are together, when we're in a community, when we look for advice. That's where we will see victory in our lives. So if you are someone that has a community but you've never really asked advice of that community, go to your pastor, go to your leaders, whoever it is that's that you can go and talk to that is wise and that loves the Lord. Go in and share the life decision you're about to make. Go in and mention it to them and don't tell them, hey, I've made the decision.

00:05:36.240 --> 00:05:50.569
Say hey look, this is what I'm thinking about, what do you think? And then we go back to yesterday's devotional. If they tell you, hey, what you want to do, do the opposite of it. Heed the discipline, take the correction because maybe there's something there that we don't see.

00:05:51.209 --> 00:05:54.810
There is victory through the council of advisors.

00:05:55.449 --> 00:06:13.779
When a nation does not get guidance on a decision, it falls, it fails. But victory is won with many advisors. So I encourage you, ask for advice from the people around you. If you guys have questions about what you need to do in your next season, comment and, and send it to us.

00:06:13.860 --> 00:06:42.449
Send us a, a a devo message. I don't know, we'll answer. And we have a text feed for this. We have a comment section for this. You can DM us personally. You know we are a community here at the my morning devotional. So if you do have a question about what to do and what's the wise decision, reach out to us. We'll do our part. But I encourage you go to somebody you know because they can look at, at your situation, look at you and also look at the word of God and what wisdom says and help you make the decision.

00:06:42.930 --> 00:07:42.029
So let's pray. Lord, we just thank you for wisdom found in advisors that Lord, when we try to do it on our own, it's difficult. But God, when we seek guidance and we seek others, we can find victory. I also just pray for anyone Lord, that's been impacted by 9, 11, all those years ago. Lord, I just pray that you would still comfort them today like you've been comforting them. Your word says that you are near to the brokenhearted Lord. And as we heal from those days or that day, Father, I pray that you continue to comfort them and give them the peace that surpasses all understanding. And we thank you for it. In Jesus name, amen. So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today we pray these devotionals and empower you to take on your day.
