Stop Calling It Impossible

Hey there, we're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

What if the thing you've been calling impossible is actually the exact place where God wants to prove He's still God? Hmm. Here's our scripture for today. It's in Matthew 19, 26. We've been going through just the chapter of 19, just a verse at a time. And so today we are Matthew 19, 26, and it says this my favorite verse. With man, this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible. Maybe that's all you needed to hear today to get your day started. With God, all things are impossible. Whatever it is that seems like it's impossible, with God, it isn't. With God, all things are possible. Now I love this verse because Jesus doesn't deny impossibility. Yes, there are some things that seem unto man impossible. But what Jesus does is he just relocates the conversation. He doesn't say, no, no, it's not hard. He doesn't say you're overreacting, like I said to my daughters many, many times. He doesn't say, you should be able to fix this. He doesn't say, where is your faith to believe? No, he says, with man, this is impossible. See, that means that sometimes the thing that is in front of you really is beyond your strength. It's difficult. It's heavy. It is impossible for you. Maybe it's your marriage and you feel like the conflict is just too difficult. The financial pressure, that child you're praying for, that child you have that you're praying for, the healing you need in your body. See, the fear sometimes that you can't seem to shake feels impossible to ever shake. That impossible decision that feels like you'll never be able to make it. And sometimes faith begins not by pretending it's easy, listen, but by admitting this is bigger than me. Now remember, the truth of God's word sets you free when it's replied when it's applied, not just listened to. So when we begin to apply the truth that this might be bigger than me, there are some things that are tangible that are required of us. Because Jesus doesn't just stop there. He says, with God all things are possible. That means you and I have to take this word and apply it, believe it, and expect to receive it. So here are some three quick truths for you today. Are you ready? Number one, some things really are impossible for you, and that's okay. It's all right. You can be set free from that today. You were never meant to be your own savior. You can't save yourself anyway. And number two, God is not limited by the limitations that you're staring at. Yes, they're limiting to you, but they're not to God. And just because you can't see a path ahead doesn't mean that God doesn't have one. He does. And number three, impossible places, oh, this is my favorite, are often the birthplace of deeper faith. That's why you jump on these my morning devotionals every morning. It's to deepen your faith. I hope that's happening in your life. Because when your own strength runs out, dependence on God gets real. And that's why you read your word every day. That's why this devotional is so important for you because you're becoming more dependent on Him. Now, can we close in prayer today together? Here's our prayer. Lord, I give you the places that feel impossible, the things that I can't fix or force or make happen. I give them over to you. I will become fully reliant and dependent on you. Yes, this place that I'm in, I feel stuck. I feel powerless, but nothing is impossible for you. You will give me the strength and the power to overcome this. And Lord, more than anything, you will assist me when I surrender to you. I put it in your hands. And so I make a decision to do that today. Help me trust you in the places that I feel weak and overwhelmed. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen and amen. So here's our challenge. Are you ready? Stop rehearsing how impossible it is and start declaring who God is in the middle of it all. God bless you and have a great weekend.
