Stillness

Stillness

Have you ever wondered how to find peace and stillness even when life feels overwhelming? In today’s episode, Richelle Alessi guides us through the story of Caleb and Joshua in Numbers 13:30, exploring how we can stay confident and calm by keeping our eyes on God’s promises instead of today’s distractions and fears. Together, we’ll learn how to experience true stillness in our minds and hearts, no matter what challenges we face, and discover the hope, peace, and strength that come from trusting in God.

Join our community in prayer and devotion as we seek to center our thoughts on God, find rest in His promises, and walk confidently in faith each day.

You're listening to my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1259. Today's Devo is called Stillness. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Thursday.

00:00:32.159 --> 00:01:05.412
Welcome to another episode of my morning Devotional podcast. Thank you for being with us this week. Thank you for being part of our our listeners. We truly love you guys. Me and my sisters in law are just so blessed by, by you guys reading your comments and your support. We're truly blessed to have you as our listeners. And so this week we have read a couple of verses that we can apply to our everyday life to truly live out scripture and to truly live out the word of God. And today I want to read from a verse found in

00:01:05.436 --> 00:01:59.784
30 that says, But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are able to overcome it. This verse, just to give you a little bit of backstory, actually comes from, from the Book of Numbers, of course. And it's, it's a place where, you know, Caleb and Joshua had gone out to the land to spy out the land that the Lord had promised his people. And when they came back, you know, they had good reports, but some of the other spies didn't have good reports. And it really made the people fear. But Caleb and Joshua knew, they trusted the Lord and they knew that nothing was too big for the Lord. But what they were truly seeing was what the Lord had promised them.

00:01:59.871 --> 00:02:10.768
They were not just seeing the obstacles and the things that would take to get there. They were seeing what the Lord had promised.

00:02:10.864 --> 00:03:31.240
And because their eyes were on the right things, they were not fearful, they were just confident. And to let's go get what the Lord has promised us. We can do this. This spoke to me in a sense where it was like, sometimes we think of stillness and we think of being quiet, you know, and yes, being still is you being still. The Word is the definition. But this verse showed me that we can, even in hard moments, when there is something that we're going through that seems very difficult, if our eyes and our mind and our heart are focused on the things of God and not the difficult things, but the things of God, we can actually be still be still in every area of our lives. Be still in our mind and in our heart. We don't have to be anxious. We don't have to be stressed. If our minds are truly set in the right thing and our eyes are truly set in looking for the right things, then we don't have to experience a certain level of fear. Fear will always be there. And as you enter new seasons, you will experience new fears, but you can overcome those things.

00:03:31.550 --> 00:05:07.410
We know that even when we enter something and we're feeling afraid, our first reaction will be, now that I'm feeling this way or this fear. That just means I have to set my eyes and my thoughts towards the right things. I have to see what the Lord has promised me. I have to believe what the Lord has told me. I have to cling to his word. And in that I can experience stillness, peace and be confident that the Lord is faithful. And this honestly goes back to our first verse of the week which was believing and trusting that the Lord's ways and thoughts are higher and that can truly carry us through life. And we can apply this to our everyday life that we can trust the Lord and we're going to set our eyes and our minds and our hearts towards him and the right things. And in that we can be still and be confident into everything that we have to do. So let's pray today. Lord, thank you for another great day. Thank you for your word and thank you for giving us the Bible as a guide, Lord, as a guide that you have given us to be able to live a good life. A life that's not filled with stress or anxiety, but a life that's filled with your hope, with your truth, with your kindness. And I just pray that today you reveal certain areas to us where we have to be still, some areas where we have to trust you so then we can experience these stillness that allow us to live in a confident relationship with you.

00:05:07.709 --> 00:05:11.478
So once again Lord we trust you and we thank you.

00:05:11.613 --> 00:05:15.317
In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it.
