Still And Know
When was the last time you truly let yourself pause and just be still? In today’s episode, host Gaby Calatayud invite us to step away from the rush of daily life and discover the peace found in Psalm 46:10—“Be still and know that I am God.” Together, we’ll reflect on how this timeless message speaks to parents feeling the weight of holiday expectations, those navigating grief or singleness, and anyone facing financial uncertainty. Through their honest conversation, we’ll learn how being still is not about giving up, but about trusting God’s faithful presence in every season of life.

Today's Devo is called still and no.
00:00:08.640 --> 00:00:53.770
Hey there. We're the Alessi's a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Well, welcome back and happy Friday. I hope you have all enjoyed the last couple episodes and I hope they've blessed you and they've. They've really challenged you, but also encouraged you. And it's just been a blessing to be with all of you guys. We're moving away from Philippians. I know we did Philippians multiple times this week. We're moving it away and we're going to go to Psalms for today. And I don't know why this spoke to me.
00:00:53.850 --> 00:00:57.609
Well, I do know why, because life can be stressful. So I needed this.
00:00:58.250 --> 00:01:07.209
But in the place that I'm at, and I've told you guys a lot about my situation, so I'm not gonna go back into where I'm currently at. You know, I'm married. You know, I have a new house. Okay, Gabby, get over it.
00:01:08.650 --> 00:01:19.769
But in life, when you're ending the year and you know you're starting a new one, there could be a lot of fear, anxiety, and worry about what's next. You could be nervous about how are we gonna pay for things?
00:01:20.140 --> 00:01:46.620
How are we going to achieve the next thing? How are we going to, you know, make it in this life? What does tomorrow look like? And there could be a lot of worries, especially during the Christmas season. And I just feel it in my heart to speak to any parent. I'm not a parent, but I do see what parents go through because there's such a high expectation of Christmas and making Christmas the best ever for your children.
00:01:47.609 --> 00:02:01.530
And I just want you to rest in this verse of Psalms 46, 10 that says this. He says, be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted on the nations, and I will be exalted in the earth.
00:02:02.968 --> 00:02:10.090
This is your reminder to be still and know that he is God. You aren't God.
00:02:11.210 --> 00:02:26.219
You aren't Jesus. You aren't the Savior of the world. He is. You were a part of bringing your children here, but you did not bring your children here. You know, you were a part of it. God used you.
00:02:26.300 --> 00:03:28.900
But it came from Him. And so speaking to the mom or dad that might be overwhelmed with Christmas and that might sound so small, but that's a big burden on a lot of parents. Enjoy this year. Be still and know that God's in control. If you can't make that memory, or if you can't make that Santa moment happen, or the elf and you can't get an elf, and it's all of this and your kid's disappointed and mad at you, don't worry about it. They probably won't even remember it. Be still and know that he is God. I also want to speak to anybody that is dealing with grief and loss during the holiday season, because I know a lot of people close to us that are going to experience, you just experienced Thanksgiving, but they're also going to experience Christmas and New Year's for the first time without their loved one in this time of mourning and grief and loss. First of all, know that God is near because His Word says that he is near to the brokenhearted. But also it's okay to be still this year. It's okay to be still and not try to make this Christmas the greatest Christmas ever.
00:03:29.539 --> 00:03:32.990
Because in that stillness, you know that he is God.
00:03:33.389 --> 00:03:35.949
And when you know he is God, you know he's in control.
00:03:36.909 --> 00:03:58.819
And maybe it's hard for one Christmas, but another Christmas will come, another day will come. So this is where we just have to be still and know that he is God. I also want to speak to anybody that is single and maybe you're thinking, wow, is this another Christmas? Is this another year that I haven't met the one and I'm not married?
00:03:59.860 --> 00:04:10.099
Here's your reminder today. Be still and know that he is God. Know that he has the perfect person for you and he or she is on the way.
00:04:10.819 --> 00:04:40.170
Know that your whole story has been ordained and written by God our Father. And he is orchestrating it in such a way that it's not that you're just going to get a husband or a wife. You're going to get a full testimony that you can share with people. You're not just looking for a spouse or a partner. You're looking for someone to come into covenant with that now you can both do more things for the kingdom of God. And it's not just about your satisfaction, but it's about the fulfillment of other people. That is what you're waiting on.
00:04:40.569 --> 00:05:14.420
So I want to encourage you. Be still and know that he is God. And then lastly, maybe you are financially not in the place this Christmas to probably survive and make it through a Christmas. Maybe financially, you just don't know how you're gonna pay off the gifts or you don't know how you're gonna go and pay for that trip. The whole family's going on a ski trip and you can't do it because of your finances. I wanna tell you right now, be still and know that he is God. He holds all the provisions in his hand. Your boss is not the provider.
00:05:14.579 --> 00:05:43.899
You are not your own provider. Your spouse isn't your provider. God is. All we must do is be still and know that he is God. Remind yourself today of who God is. And maybe you need to take some time to just think about, Lord, what is it in my life that I need to be still? Where in my life do I need to be still? It's not saying the word that they're talking about. They're not saying, oh, you still are this and that. No, it's saying, be still, be.
00:05:44.620 --> 00:05:48.379
Sit down, sit there, enjoy it. Soak it in.
00:05:49.100 --> 00:05:58.939
Don't try to find your solution. Don't fight for your solution. No, be still. Why do we need to do that? Because sometimes we try to achieve things on our own and we take the place of God in our lives.
00:05:59.579 --> 00:06:06.139
When the Lord is telling us that verse says that he says, meaning God says, be still and know that I am God.
00:06:07.180 --> 00:07:05.980
God reigns, God provides, God rules, God heals, God delivers, God restores, God redeems, God does it all. It's all in his hands. All we must do is be still and know that he is our God. So I hope this blessed you today. And let's end this entire week with a prayer. Father, thank you. Thank you. That you remind us and you tell us to be still and trust that you are our God. We trust in you, Lord. Whatever situation it might be, from losing a loved one to trying to meet the expectations of our children to handle our finances, Lord, or waiting on our spouse, God, whatever it is, we know that you have your hand over every single situation, Lord. There is nothing new under the sun. Which means this isn't new to you. You know there's need, you know, there's a want, there's a desire, Lord. And you are in the business of meeting people's desires, Father, you know the desires of our heart.
00:07:06.860 --> 00:07:21.740
So, God, I pray that you would continue to work, but yout would give a peace to every single person and encourage them and help them in the stillness that, Lord, you would give us a joy in the stillness that in this season of being still, and waiting.
00:07:21.899 --> 00:07:51.829
We can find joy. We can find satisfaction, fulfillment and peace through it all. In Jesus name we pray. Amen and Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven.
