Stay In Your Lane

Stay In Your Lane

Do you ever find yourself looking around and comparing your journey to those around you? In today’s episode, host Lauren Alessi invites us to explore the importance of staying in our own lane as we dive into Galatians 6:4 and reflect on the impact of comparison in our daily lives. Together, we’ll discover how focusing on our unique calling can lead to greater confidence, clarity, and joy, even in the midst of busy routines and distractions.

Let’s encourage one another to embrace our God-given gifts and purpose. Join our community in prayer and devotion as we ask for renewed focus and the confidence to walk boldly in the path God has set for each of us.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1308. Today's episode is called Stay in youn Lane. Hey there.

00:00:11.039 --> 00:00:49.140
We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello everyone, my name is Lauren Alessi. I am your host for this week. Happy Wednesday. I hope you are having a good week so far. I hope this podcast is blessing you and we are going to continue talking about confidence this week. I know I need to talk about this.

00:00:49.619 --> 00:01:48.629
4, and it says this. Pay careful attention to your own work and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. This is really good because I think comparison has a lot to do with confidence. I can speak to this from personal experience. It's very hard to be confident in yourself and even find confidence in Christ when you're constantly comparing yourself to people around you, or you're even maybe comparing yourself to what you used to be or what you want to be in the future. That's very, very hard to do. But this episode is called stay in your lane. Because when we stay in our lane and we stay literally where God has us right now, today, in the present, we don't need to compare. And then that just allows us to be confident and put all our confidence and trust in the Lord because we're paying attention to our own work and we won't need to compare ourselves to anyone.

00:01:49.760 --> 00:01:56.640
Everybody says this, that comparison steals joy. And that's absolutely true. But it's also true that comparison steals clarity.

00:01:57.439 --> 00:02:11.759
We're not truly focused when we're looking to the right and to the left, when we're looking at what other people are doing and we lose focus. And it's funny when people say clarity and losing focus. I can see that so perfectly because I have terrible eyesight.

00:02:11.840 --> 00:02:26.620
I got Lasik and I still feel like my eyesight is just terrible. So I love it when my eyes are like, not super dry after the Lasik eye surgery and I see so clear and I, I, I'm not losing focus on everything.

00:02:26.699 --> 00:02:30.060
Like, even right now as I'm doing this podcast, everything's a little blurry.

00:02:30.539 --> 00:02:33.979
But I think about that as it pertains to life.

00:02:34.539 --> 00:02:49.110
When I'm seeing clearly versus when I'm losing focus because I'm constantly comparing myself to others. You know, the truth is, God crafted each of us so uniquely. Our stories, our.

00:02:49.349 --> 00:03:11.800
Our. Our gifts, our talents, our callings on our lives. And the truth is, even the timings of how all those things intertwine. And even though, let's be honest, we. It is, it is true, God handcrafted things so individual to us. Maybe we do look similar to people, like we have similar personalities to certain people around us.

00:03:11.800 --> 00:03:37.479
But the truth is, you are still handcrafted by God. Your timing, your calling, your gifts, your purpose, it is handcrafted by God. So comparing yourself, comparing your timing, comparing your gifts and your talents, it's only stealing your joy. It's only stealing your clarity. So wherever you are at right now, ask yourself this. Where has comparison been distracting or discouraging you?

00:03:38.210 --> 00:04:21.569
If you're in your car on your way to work, ask yourself that. Ask God that. God, where have I been letting comparison distract me? Where have I been letting comparison steal my joy, steal my clarity? Maybe reflect on that for a little bit. And if you have been letting comparison steal your joy, steal your clarity, then just make the decision right now. If you're on the way to work, if you're on the way to the gym, if you're on your way to school, if you're on the way to dropping your kids off at school, wherever you're at right now, make the decision, God. I'm going to stay in my lane. I'm going to focus on today. I'm going to focus on me. Even right now, as I'm recording this podcast, I'm making the decision.

00:04:21.730 --> 00:04:36.060
I'm going to stay in my lane. I'm going to focus on me. I'm going to focus on my gifts, on my talents, in my timing. And let's see how God can give us clarity, can give us joy while we stay in our lane.

00:04:36.379 --> 00:05:31.839
Let's pray, Lord, remind us that the journey and the handcraftedness, God, and the uniqueness that you've placed on each of our lives, God, that it's enough. And we don't have to compare ourselves, Lord, because we choose to focus on our calling, Lord, and our uniqueness that you've given us and not somebody else's, Lord. And we choose to make that decision today, wherever we are at right now. And, Lord, if there's someone who's really, really struggling making that decision, Lord, because they just feel like they're in a really tough spot, God and comparison's just easier. God then Lord, I just pray for that person right now. Wherever they are at God, let them gain clarity. God, let them gain vision for their lives, God God, let them see the uniqueness, Lord, on their lives and that they don't have to compare, God, so that they can gain clarity and that they can gain joy. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
