Well, happy Thursday, everybody. Welcome back to the My Morning Devo podcast. This is your host, Gabby, for the week. And again, I hope you've been blessed, encouraged. Today's episode is something I tend to talk about a lot, but I think it's something that we need to hear a lot. I know I need to hear this a lot because Proverbs 1821 says this the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. The tongue has the power of life and death. Our words, and this is so hard to say, coming from me. Please hear me. I'm a part of the journey with you. But our our words really do shape the atmosphere and the environment that we walk into and that we live in. I do notice that if someone speaks negatively, they could be in the best season of their life. But if their words are constantly negative, uh, seeing glass half empty, right? And just always seeing the problems and finding the problems and then speaking the problems and complaining. You shape and create a life that is constantly frustrated and you're constantly having issues. I see it all the time. It's like if you speak it within a couple days, you live it. You're walking in that. Then I see somebody that they're in the waiting season, or the thing that they've desired has not happened, or they're in a season of loss, and you can look at them and go, man, of all the people that should be negative, it's you. Yet every word that they speak is so positive. And they've created this world of faithfulness, trusting in the Lord, talking about the goodness of God. When I would say, man, this is, they have every right to sink back in their chair and go, God, what's going on? They only speak of God's goodness. And what they do is they create an atmosphere of the goodness of God. Because of the words that they speak, they are constantly reminded of God's goodness. And they look at their life and they go, God, what else can I ask you for? God, how else can I thank you for what you've done? Because God, you've just been so good. The words that come out of our mouth, it either builds us up and builds life, or it does build death. And no, it's not always the actual meaning of death, where then you're going to walk into that. But I do believe it has the power to make your life very enjoyable and successful and meaningful, or a life very miserable. And you're looking at life like it's dark and frustrating, and you're never winning, and you've got it the hardest because of the words that you speak. I love surrounding myself with people that speak life. We have a couple in our church that went through a devastating loss. They're in their older years and they lost their son who's who was in his 30s. Tragic loss, could not say goodbye to him. The the end of his life made no sense. It was one of those situations where you thought, man, how do this, how does this happen to people like that? Like, God, this just doesn't add up. And if you let yourself, you can actually start to question God, where were you in all of this? But you know the song that they sang at his funeral? The two songs they sang at the funeral was More Than Abel and Goodness of God. The song that they wrote on their heart, the the words that they wrote on their heart in that season was the goodness of God. Because in a moment where life let them down and life was not good, they held on to the goodness that came only from God. And they spoke words that spoke of his goodness, that taught of his goodness. They held on to his goodness, not their own, and not the situation's goodness. So it shows us that life and death is in the power of the tongue, that we can speak life over ourselves. If we're sick, we can speak life over our body and over our bones. If our kids are having issues, we could speak life to our children. If something's happening in our situation, we can speak life over the situation. No, it's not manifestation. It's not that we control all this power, but we have to remember there's a spirit on the inside of us that is the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit has given us authority to speak and to build and to be successful for the glory of God. So let every word that comes from our mouth, let it glorify and edify the Lord. It's not about speaking it and I'm gonna have a million dollars by the end of the year, and boom, you manifested it. No, it's speaking words that glorify him. It's speaking words that build up and edify his people, and it's speaking words that advance his kingdom, because that's what counts. I understand the kids make you frustrated. I understand that your boss at work is making you want to quit. But speak words that edify the Lord, that glorify God because he is the one that controls it all. He is the one that's raising your kids, he is the one that is helping you at your job, he is advocating for you. He is the one. Jesus is our greatest advocate that sits on the right hand of the Father and prays and intercedes for us. So speak life because God is listening. Speak life over your body, speak life over your family. It is the power of life and death and on the tongue. Be reminded of that today. So ask yourself: what you're speaking, what you've been speaking, is it true? Is it helpful? And does it glorify the Lord? Because remember, our words reflect our heart. So if it's a heart issue, then let us be changed and let us be fully transformed in our heart by the Holy Spirit. Let's pray. Lord, I just thank you. I thank you for the spirit that you've given us, that you've given us power and authority, God. You've given us power and authority over things of this world. One of those things you've given us through our mouth, Lord. And I pray all of us would use that power wisely, that we wouldn't take it for granted. We wouldn't use it for negative things, but Lord, we would use it to speak life over people, over our situation, over what's in front of us, over our future, God, and most importantly, we would speak life to you. God, I pray that none of us would speak more complaints to you and struggles that we're having to you rather than we speak thankfulness and gratitude to you, or speak thankfulness and gratitude to you. Let us lift up and let us speak words that are life to the bones and it's a joy to the Spirit. In Jesus' name, amen.
