You are listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1002. Today's Devo is called write that down. Hey, there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.309 --> 00:00:37.014
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody. Happy Tuesday. I'm joined again today by my sister Stephanie. Good morning.

00:00:37.393 --> 00:00:47.853
Thanks, Lolo. Glad to be here. I love this title because it reminds me of that scene in daddy daycare. Where the little girl's like, write that down. And I always have Eddie Murphy.

00:00:48.154 --> 00:00:51.473
Oh, my God. I love that. Somebody's like, dolphins. And she's like, I love that.

00:00:51.514 --> 00:00:58.560
Write that down. So, anyways, I'm excited to see what today is about. Are you ready to lead us into our topic today?

00:00:58.631 --> 00:01:09.284
I'm so ready. And I'm coming at you with another pun. Love it. The title is write that down. I love it. But it's not w r I t e. It is r I g h.

00:01:10.424 --> 00:01:13.683
I know, I know. I thought of this all by myself.

00:01:14.144 --> 00:01:25.176
Write that down. So I'm coming at you with more. Of a practical lesson today. A practical devotional. Because I've started to implement this little practice in my life every day.

00:01:25.319 --> 00:01:43.855
And I'm telling you, it is a night and day difference when it comes to my mindset, when it comes to my attitude. So I wanted to encourage you guys. In this little thing backstory. A couple about a year ago, I was just going through a season. I was probably postpartum. I was really exhausted.

00:01:44.040 --> 00:01:57.876
I don't know what it was that. Triggered it, but I was going through a season where all I could focus. On was what I lacked. This person wasn't enough for me. My home wasn't big enough for me. My workplace wasn't enough for me. My family wasn't enough for me.

00:01:58.060 --> 00:02:01.891
Everybody was just disappointing me. All I was thinking about was myself.

00:02:02.067 --> 00:02:09.412
All I was focused on was what. I did not have. And I was. I was becoming very self focused at that time. And I

00:02:09.427 --> 00:02:13.204
00 a.m. Because I think Gia woke up.

00:02:13.243 --> 00:02:16.548
00 a.m. I'm not going back to sleep.

00:02:16.635 --> 00:02:46.153
I'm done. I'm done. And then once I get into my thoughts, I am really done. It's literally, like the strongest coffee out. There are some worrisome thoughts that'll preach. But I was up, and I started to. I went on Instagram, and I saw my dad was up. Cause he was posting stuff on Instagram. So I texted him, and we were having a deep text conversation, and I. Was venting to him. Everything I told you, I was just. I felt like I was lacking everything. And I was letting my dad know.

00:02:46.584 --> 00:03:01.656
And my dad told me, steph, you don't understand how good you have it. You need every morning to write down. 20 things you're grateful for. Yeah. And you're gonna start today. Yeah. Every day, 20 things.

00:03:01.840 --> 00:03:19.580
And it can be something big, it. Could be something small, but you need. To start doing that. So I started, and it changed everything. It changed my mindset when I walked into the workplace. It changed the way I spoke to my husband.

00:03:19.692 --> 00:03:45.449
It changed the way I saw my house when I walked through the doors. It changed everything. It changed my household. It changed my family's attitude, because I was grateful for everything. And, you know, the thing about thankfulness. Is that we've kind of cheapened it, in a way. Totally, because it's something simple that we say during the day. We say it to our barista after. They give us our coffee. We say it to a stranger who's picked up something we dropped on the floor.

00:03:45.602 --> 00:04:14.451
We say it to our little kids when they give us. When they do something right, we're like, oh, thank you. But we don't recognize how big of a deal the word thanks is. And I did some research on it. And on a revelation. In revelation 1116 through 17, it says, the 24 elders who were seated on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying, we give thanks to you, Lord God almighty, the one who is and who was to come.

00:04:14.548 --> 00:04:28.423
Wow. Fell on their face. They fell on their face. So it hit me when I'm here on earth saying, thank you, God. There are elders in heaven saying, thank you, God.

00:04:29.004 --> 00:05:01.779
Those words are a huge deal. I don't know the biological impact it has on you. I don't know the spiritual impact on you. But I do know that there are elders in heaven bowing on their face down to God, saying, thanks, God. Yeah, thanks to you, God. So when you are here on earth in the roughest situation, you could be. In a bad attitude. You're looking at everything you lack. When you change your mindset and you. Write down 20 things that you are thankful for, you are doing something that. Angels are doing in heaven.

00:05:01.932 --> 00:05:55.673
You are saying words here on earth that angels are saying in heaven to God. And again, first, thessalonians five eight says. Give thanks in all circumstances. Amen. For this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. So no matter what it is you're. Facing today, wake up. Or before you go to bed, write. Down 20 things that you are thankful for. It could be something as big as. Your children to something as small as your cup of coffee in the morning. Whatever it is, give thanks to God. Whatever it is, give thanks to God. So let's pray this morning. God, we thank you so much for. Everything that you've given in our lives. God, we hand our heart over to you today so that you could change our attitude, because we want to put you at the center of everything that we do. We want to look at all of. The things that you have done good in our life.

00:05:55.774 --> 00:06:02.298
Cause we know that there are a lot of them. We thank you for our children. We thank you for our work. We thank you for our job.

00:06:02.425 --> 00:06:10.002
We thank you for our siblings. We thank you for our parents. We thank you for our spouses, for our houses. We thank you for all of it.

00:06:10.137 --> 00:06:21.415
God, we thank you for you. Just you are enough for us. So, God, we thank you, and we continue to give thanks every day of our lives. And in Jesus name we pray.

00:06:21.529 --> 00:06:39.819
Amen. Amen. And amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
