What memories from this past year shine brightest in your heart?

In today’s episode, host Gaby Calatayud invites us to pause and reflect as we wrap up 2025 and prepare our hearts for a brand new year. Together, we'll learn how to honor the goodness God has shown throughout this year, cherish every victory and even the struggles, and recognize that each season forms a building block for what’s ahead. Drawing inspiration from Deuteronomy 4:9, we’ll discover the importance of remembering God’s blessings, sharing them with others, and carrying those lessons into 2026.

Let’s come together as a community in prayer and daily devotion, celebrating all that God has done as we look forward to the new year with hope and gratitude.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1431. Today's Devo is called Remembering 2025. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.920 --> 00:00:39.679
That's why we've partnered with our friend Alison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Well, happy Monday, everybody, and welcome back to the My Morning Devotional Podcast. I hope you enjoyed your weekend and your Christmas time with the family.

00:00:40.000 --> 00:03:06.360
This is Gabby Koladiud, your host for the week. And I get the privilege and the honor to end our Devos for 2025. And because of how the week falls, I don't get just to end them. I get to start the year. So. So you're going to get me this whole week and you're going to get me as we close out 2025 and then also start 2026. And special thing this week is that tomorrow, December 30th is my birthday. So it's super cool. So you're going to get me for my birthday and you're going to get me for the end of the year, beginning of 2026. Can you believe we are going into the new year already? But we can't focus on 2026 yet or look at 2026 yet. We need to pause and we need to reflect on how good God was and still is, but the goodness of God in 2025, that's why I've called this episode Remembering 2025. I want to start by saying this as I kick off this week of devos. I don't believe that every year we start over in our life. I don't think when it goes from 2025 to 2026, it's a clean slate and then we start fresh. What I believe is God, every single year, uses every experience, every every struggle, every victory, every blessing and even the unanswered prayers, all of it. He uses it as building blocks in our lives and that every year we are growing and we are doubling and we are multiplying from year to year. So I hope we can go into this week and even go into 2026, seeing that 2025 was a year that God maybe built some things in you. Maybe God planted seeds, maybe God harvested things in you, but that God is going to build off of 2025 as we go into 2026. And as his word says, we are going to go from glory to glory to glory, exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask, think, or imagine. So we're going to read from Deuteronomy 4. 9. So we're going to go to the Old Testament and I'm reading from the NIV version and it says this, only be careful and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade away from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. I have a question for you today.

00:03:07.419 --> 00:03:25.259
What have your eyes seen in 2025? Has it been victory? Has it been loss? Has it been God coming through? Or you're still waiting for God to come through? Has it been sowing or reaping? What have your eyes seen in 2025?

00:03:26.219 --> 00:03:48.710
What has your heart experienced? You see, I think when we are coming to the end of a year and we're loaded up with the holidays and Christmas and trying to provide for the family and trying to budget for for Christmas and not go over our spending, or you're planning your Christmas trip, I mean, even right now, listening to this, if you're listening to this, you get extra points.

00:03:48.710 --> 00:04:19.029
Because to listen to a devo when you're on a trip with the family or you're dealing with stuff with the family, it's hard to fit it in. So at the end of the year, we can find ourselves getting lost in maybe the stress and the hustle of the end of the year. And then we're just trying to get to 2026. But today I don't want us to do that. I want us to reflect on what we've seen in 2025. I want us to remember what God has done in us. Because this verse says it perfectly. It says, be careful and watch yourself closely so you don't forget.

00:04:20.069 --> 00:04:42.250
Forgetting is human nature. Forgetting is a natural instinct of ours. Forgetting is something that just comes natural. And if we're not careful, we will continue to live and create a habit of forgetting the things God has done for you. I cannot tell you the Christmas gift that my husband got me last year for Christmas. Why? Because I probably already forgot.

00:04:42.569 --> 00:05:07.660
But my expectations are high for this Christmas or we're high for this Christmas. What does that mean? Every season of our life, we're expecting God to do more things. We can't forget what God did in the past. When we're expecting God to do a new thing, we can't look at this new year and say, God, I need you to come through this year, man. This is the year, God. New year, new me, God, you're going to do it. Remember what God did last year.

00:05:08.060 --> 00:06:07.329
Remember that he already slayed some giants in your life. Remember that he already came through financially for you. So we don't have to look at this new year as a new opportunity. And God's going to do something brand new. God is still doing something. God is continuingly or continuing to work in your life. We cannot forget what God has done. So today I want us to remember, I want us to focus, I want us to go back and not forget the things that God has done. Don't forget what your eyes have seen. Don't let it fade away from your heart. And then here's what's important. Teach it to your children. Teach it to your children's children today. Tell somebody, remind somebody. Bring it up at day dinner, bring it up at breakfast. Tell people what the Lord has done in 2025 as we remember his goodness and how he's always come through. Let's pray. Father, thank you for everything you've done in 2025, Father. You have given us so much in the highs and in the lows, God.

00:06:07.329 --> 00:06:45.449
You've been there and you've provided and we thank you for it. And today we just remind ourselves of what you've done. Remind ourselves of what we've seen and what we've felt and what we've experienced in 2025. Because 2025 was a year we will never forget. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it.
