You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1302.

00:00:04.160 --> 00:00:29.690
Today's Devo is called Psalm 2. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everyone.

00:00:29.769 --> 00:01:02.590
Stephanie here, and we're going to continue in our reading of the first chapters of Psalms. I'm going to continue in Psalms 2, and I'm going to sort of breeze over it because it's a long one and I want to have plenty of time to discuss what we're reading. So let's start off with Psalm 2, verse 1. Why do the nations conspire and the people's plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, let us break their chains and throw off their shackles. The one enthroned in heaven laughs.

00:01:02.909 --> 00:01:20.719
The Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain. Now let's skip forward to verse 10. Therefore you kings, be wise. Be warned, you rulers of the earth.

00:01:21.040 --> 00:01:50.359
Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his Son or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction. For his wrath can flare up in a moment, but blessed are all who take refuge in him. Gosh, I love when David starts to talk about God's throne and the royalty of God. You know, when my husband and I, earlier in this year, I think it was last November, we went to London.

00:01:50.359 --> 00:02:04.120
We went. I did a trip to the Cotswolds in London. Highly recommend the trip. And when we went into the city of London, we of course had to go to Buckingham palace and we've seen palaces before. We've gone to Madrid and we saw the palace in Madrid.

00:02:05.319 --> 00:02:15.430
You go to, I don't know, it's not a palace. But you go to New York and you see the Statue of Liberty, you've seen massive infrastructures and monuments.

00:02:16.150 --> 00:02:38.069
I've gone to Washington D.C. and I'll see it there. But when you go to London and you see where the royal family works and lives and what they have built, it blows your mind because you just have never seen monuments this large and the the scale of opulence that these people live at is unfathomable.

00:02:38.650 --> 00:02:49.689
And mind you, it's huge. Like Buckingham palace is huge. And the walkway down to Buckingham palace is massive. And it just really, it's gargantuan.

00:02:49.689 --> 00:03:25.780
It blows you away when you see how. What royalty really looks like. And then all I could think about when I was there was, this is how David describes God when he's sitting on his throne. And what's even more beautiful is this God who sits on a throne and his throne room is heaven and his footstool is earth. That God is my friend and my father and I walk and I live intimately with my God, with the God. And he's a king, but he's a friend.

00:03:26.500 --> 00:03:37.310
He's royalty, but he's intimacy. And he is huge and unfathomable, but then so up close and applicable.

00:03:38.430 --> 00:03:46.110
And that is the beauty of being a Christian, of being a daughter and a son of God. We are royalty.

00:03:47.069 --> 00:03:58.150
We are associated. We partner our life with this king. And that's why I think David ends that psalm with, blessed are all who take refuge in him.

00:03:58.789 --> 00:04:42.629
Because David is saying in this psalm, look at how huge God is for him to be in the heavens, in the clouds, sitting on a throne. And we worry about our finances, and we worry about contentment amongst our friends, and we worry about God not providing us a home or providing us a spouse or providing us children when we walk with the king of the heavens and he calls us his children. Let me just remind you today, don't allow any room for insecurity of who you are and what God is doing in your life to stop you today. You are a daughter of the most high.

00:04:42.790 --> 00:04:57.610
You are a son of the most High God. Be bold, be confident, be courageous. Never doubt yourself, never hesitate. Because God has chosen you to be his son. God has chosen you to be his daughter.

00:04:57.930 --> 00:05:05.209
And the Bible says the Lord scoffs at his enemies. The Lord scoffs at anybody who mocks him.

00:05:05.850 --> 00:05:39.180
He just laughs at them. He. He has no worry. So why should we, you know, don't ever, ever feel like you have to take a step back because of the enemies in this world, because of the, the weird culture that we may live in that's going to correct everything that you say or everything that you believe in. Never fear that you are a daughter and a son of the Most High God. And he is busy laughing at his enemies. So why should we occupy our time with being afraid of them? Be bold today. Step up to the plate.

00:05:39.500 --> 00:05:49.720
Be courageous of what you believe in, be courageous, that you're a Christian and be proud of that and take refuge in him. Because Psalm 2 says that you will be blessed if you do so.

00:05:49.879 --> 00:06:39.810
Let's pray. God, I pray for everybody listening to this devotional today that if anyone is suffering from any fear of where the world is going, any nervousness about how people around them may view them because of their beliefs, or if they have people in their family that disagree with them, people at their workplace that disagree with them, I pray that you will fill them all up with a new courage and boldness today and that God, they will recognize their identity as a son of God, as a daughter of God, and that they will feel your presence everywhere they go. And Jesus, I pray that everyone will see and recognize your sovereignty, your royalty. God, you aren't just. You aren't only a man, but you are a king and you're a father and you reign in heaven and on earth. So there is no need for us to fear.

00:06:40.050 --> 00:06:43.490
And in Jesus name we all pray. Amen and Amen.

00:06:44.129 --> 00:07:05.149
