Psalm 1

Psalm 1

What keeps us grounded when life’s pace picks up and the to-do list seems never-ending? In today’s episode, hosts Stephanie Muiña invite us to slow down and find refreshment in God’s Word as we reflect on Psalm 1. Together, we’ll learn what it means to be like a tree planted by streams of water—rooted, steady, and cared for by God—no matter what our circumstances look like. Stephanie shares from her own experience of navigating busy and heavy seasons, and encourages us to trust in God’s perfect timing and provision.

Let’s come together as a community to meditate on Scripture, pray for peace and steadfastness, and devote our hearts to walking closely with the Lord each day. Join us in prayer and devotion as we trust God to help us prosper and bear fruit in due season!

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1301. Today's Devo is called Psalm One. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everyone. My name is Stephanie, and welcome to the My Morning Devotional Podcast. I'm very excited to dive into what we will be speaking about this week, because I'm gonna kind of just relax this week. I have had a lot on my plate.

00:00:47.869 --> 00:01:39.170
It's funny because it's the summertime and we should be relaxing, but things have sort of ramped up and we have a whole new schedule with my kids and a whole new schedule with our family and with work. So I'm just trying to find my bearings. But, man, the joy of the Lord is my strength. He's been helping me. He's been really making me. He's just given me so much peace. Even during a heavy season. It's not been a stressful season. It's just been a heavier season with a lot to navigate. And I'm grateful for that because that means he's blessing me with many different things, but that just means I'm gonna have to just follow the Holy Spirit on certain situations and lean on him and rely on Him. And this week with the DeVos, I'm gonna do just that. So I need the Bible this week. I just want to dive into it. I need Scripture.

00:01:39.569 --> 00:02:57.990
So I will be reading the first five chapters of Psalms. If you've never read Psalms before, then this is the perfect way to begin. Let's just read through it and let's see the inspiration we get from it. So we are starting with Psalm 1 in the NIV version, and it says, blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither, whatever they do prospers not. So the wicked, they are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. This one, I actually listened to it this morning and something that really stood out to me. There's a few things. The first thing that really stood out to me is that person is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever they do prospers.

00:02:58.710 --> 00:03:09.620
Right now, my husband and I were looking for a home. And in Miami, Florida. It's probably the hardest mission out there. The market in Miami is ridiculous.

00:03:09.939 --> 00:03:50.889
And there are days that I wonder, are we just going to be set back by this? Is there no way around it? Are we caught in a terrible market? But I read this verse and it says that the one who meditates on his law day and night, that whatever they do will prosper. So what? Whatever my husband and I do moving forward, it's going to prosper. And which they will yield their fruit in season. Basically meaning this work that I am putting in to be righteous, to pursue the Lord, to meditate on his law day and night, it will bear a harvest of righteousness in due time.

00:03:51.530 --> 00:04:28.819
And that is the trick. In due time, not my timing, but in God's timing. And if I just delight in the law of the Lord, if I meditate on his law day and night, then I will be planted. I won't be swayed by worries of where our city is going or fears of not having enough money. I won't be swayed by that. I'm going to be planted. I know God is for me. I know that he has a perfect place planned for my life, that if I just trust in him, he knows exactly where he's going to lead me.

00:04:29.379 --> 00:05:31.120
So I hope that that verse encourages you, that if you meditate on his word day and night, which you're doing right now by listening to this devotional, then you will be a person, like a tree planted by streams of water with plenty of provision. And you will yield fruit in season and your leaf will not wither, but everything that you do will prosper. So just be encouraged. Keep God number one. Meditate on his word day and night. Don't get swayed by things, but stay planted and your fruit will be yielded in due time. And you will, everything that you do will prosper. Let's pray. God, I just thank you so much for planting us. God. Planting us by streams of water. That verse means that you have us in the perfect place for provision. You give us exactly what we need to get through the day. You are the number one provider. You are the enforcer. I don't have to worry. I don't have to fear. You will provide.

00:05:31.678 --> 00:05:39.199
I will yield fruit in due season. God and I will prosper because I partner with you Jesus.

00:05:39.279 --> 00:06:05.430
Because I walk alongside with you day and night. Everything that me and my family does will prosper, and everything that all of us will do will prosper. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen. And Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
