Protection From Destruction

Protection From Destruction

Does knowing God sees EVERYTHING you do fill you with fear - or faith? In today’s episode, host Lauren Alessi guides us through a powerful reflection on Proverbs 5 and the idea of God’s constant presence in our lives. Together, we’ll explore how God’s all-seeing care isn’t a source of pressure, but rather an invitation to walk in freedom, wisdom, and authenticity. We’ll discover how wise choices lead us into lives of blessing, while secrets and sin only serve to hold us back—and how embracing God’s wisdom can set us free.

Let’s journey through this devotional as a community, asking God to search our hearts and lead us into greater freedom. Join us in prayer and daily devotion as we grow together in wisdom and God’s truth.

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:10.880
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1350. Today's Devo is called Protection from Destruction. Hey there.

00:00:10.960 --> 00:00:36.979
We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone. My name is Lauren Alessi. I'm sorry, that title is very like, whoa.

00:00:37.060 --> 00:01:15.140
Protection from destruction. My name is Lauren Alessi and I am your host for this week. And today is our last day, at least with me for this month. But I've loved this month so far. Talking about Proverbs, talking about wisdom. If you joined us at the beginning of the week, I genuinely thought my name meant wisdom. Like that was the meaning of my name. And I was wrong. But it's okay. I just love the topic of wisdom and I love the book of Proverbs, and that's how passionate I am about it. I want my name to mean wisdom, but it's okay. Anyways, we are talking today out of the book of Proverbs,

00:01:15.219 --> 00:01:18.980
22. And it says this.

00:01:19.060 --> 00:01:22.180
For your ways are in full view of the Lord.

00:01:22.719 --> 00:01:37.359
Let's start over. This. Your is not a capitalized your, it's a lowercase your. So here it's talking about us. It's not like, oh, for your ways, Lord. No, it's not God's ways, it's our ways talking about us. Here, let's start over.

00:01:37.920 --> 00:02:00.569
For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all of your paths. The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them, the cords of their sins hold them fast. So what this verse is basically saying is, everything we do, it's in full view of the Lord, and he examines all of our paths, everything we do.

00:02:01.609 --> 00:02:08.009
And I know it sounds kind of cheesy, but, like, duh, like he's looking down from heaven, like he can see everything we do.

00:02:08.969 --> 00:02:26.800
But more than that, like, if you think about the fact that God is omnipresent, like he's everywhere all at once. He's in our hearts, he's in our minds, like God created us, he knows us and he's seeing what we're thinking, he's seeing what we're feeling, he's seeing the actions we take, like God's in all of it.

00:02:27.280 --> 00:02:41.599
Nothing is hidden from God, he sees every path we take, every decision we make, even the secret ones that we're like, no one's gonna know about this, or like, I don't. Even those secret ones that are secret from ourselves, that we're in denial about. Yeah, God's aware of that.

00:02:43.120 --> 00:03:23.289
And what Proverbs is telling us here is that the evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them and that sin entangles and traps. But wisdom leads to freedom in life. And when you choose God's way, it's not about restriction or it's not about, you know, you have to follow these rules because this is the boundaries, and you can't cross these boundaries. No, it's about walking in the freedom of his design and how he created us. And so I just want to say, like, right now, if you feel like, okay, our ways are in full view of the Lord. Oh, my gosh, that's a lot of pressure. No, that should be freedom, that there's nothing hidden from God. God, search my heart, search my ways.

00:03:23.289 --> 00:04:13.300
Lord, examine me of anything that I've done wrong. He could see them anyways and just know. Any sin in our lives, one God will forgive them of, but also just be reminded. God can see it. He sees everything we do. This verse reminds me of, like, I love watching those documentaries of how there were these massive, super successful companies and then they were brought to, like, destruction. I really love watching those of how there was, like, a super massive CEO and he was very, very successful, and then he just ruined his life because he just made some very small, terrible decisions. He shouldn't have sent that text. He shouldn't have sent that email. And like, the documentary is like, pulling up those texts, pulling up those emails, and you're like, oh, my gosh. And like, Netflix has like a thousand of those documentaries, and I.

00:04:13.300 --> 00:04:53.459
I just never get tired of them. I could just watch every single one of those documentaries. Every time I watch those documentaries, the same thing goes through my head, like, why are people still doing this? Have they not thought about. It's 20, 25. You wrote this down in an email. You wrote this down in a text. Like, this is the day and age we live in. And this is what Proverbs is saying. Your ways are in full view of the Lord. Like, basically your evil deeds, they're only going to ensnare you more. And. And the Lord examines all your paths. And I think a lot of times we just keep the Christian thing, the Christian thing, but we don't realize how that also affects sin and the world.

00:04:53.620 --> 00:05:00.899
Like, if someone does something wrong, you're going to get exposed for it, period. That's just the principal sin of nature.

00:05:01.779 --> 00:05:08.949
But if you're good and you walk in wise ways, you make wise decisions, God's gonna bless you for it.

00:05:09.269 --> 00:05:27.750
And I think that's the overall principle of Proverbs. I think that's what Proverbs is trying to tell us. If you're gonna sin, those evil deeds are only going to ensnare you more. But if you follow God and his wisdom and what he says in his ways, it's only a life of freedom. It's only a life of success and long life.

00:05:28.560 --> 00:05:39.759
And that's why I love the book of Proverbs so much. And I'm excited to see what this month has. But for now, let's pray. Lord, we thank you that you see us fully, God, honestly. We thank you, Lord.

00:05:39.759 --> 00:05:46.399
That, that, that doesn't stress us out, that doesn't add any pressure, Lord, because, Lord, there's nothing we need to hide from you. You see it all.

00:05:46.959 --> 00:05:57.220
So we thank you for that, Lord. And we ask, Lord, that you search our ways. If there's any sin in us, Lord, let us not be ensnared by it any longer, Lord, but let us give it entirely to you, God.

00:05:57.620 --> 00:06:08.980
Show us how to keep walking in your word, God, so that we can live a full, rich life, God, full of wisdom, full of your truth, and full of your word. In Jesus name we pray.

00:06:09.300 --> 00:06:32.300
Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
