Prayer: Where And When

Prayer: Where And When

When do you find it easiest to connect with God in prayer—early in the morning, or quietly at night? In today’s episode, host Stephanie Muiña invites us to reflect on the practical questions of where and when we build our strongest prayer habits. Together, we’ll explore why consistency is key to a deeper spiritual life, the blessings of meeting God in private moments, and simple ways we can carve out time—even on our busiest days.

Let’s come together in community, encouraging one another to start fresh in prayer and devotion, and join hands as we seek God’s presence each day.

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:21.039
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1284. Today's Devote is called where and When. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:31.670
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody. Happy Thursday.

00:00:32.070 --> 00:00:39.189
Thanks so much for joining me. My name is Stephanie Molina and I have been talking about prayer this past week.

00:00:39.350 --> 00:00:46.310
Well, today I want to again touch on something more practical and it's where and when we should pray.

00:00:47.109 --> 00:01:30.670
You know, if you wanted to have really, really strong muscles, then what do you have to do? You have to have to work out every single day. I personally want abs. I want a six pack. Sue me. But it's not going to happen because I'm not going to the gym and working out my core every day. I know I'm awful, I know I need to work out my core, but I really just enjoy working my upper body and my lower body and I know I got to work out my core. I totally get it, but I just don't think about it. I forget about working out my core. Well, if I'm not consistently on a daily basis working out my core, then I cannot expect myself to come out with a six pack. That's not how it works. Well, it's the same with our prayer.

00:01:31.150 --> 00:02:09.460
If we want a strong prayer life, then it needs to be an everyday practice and shout out to all of our everyday listeners. If you are putting on our podcast every single day, then you were in the right lane here. We're getting it. You know how to do it. You are diligent. Give yourself a pat on the back because honestly, you just need to begin. Start tomorrow every single day and consistently wake up at 7am or do it at 10pm when everyone's asleep, depending on how you when are you the most clear minded and give yourself 15 to 30 minutes just

00:02:09.460 --> 00:02:20.349
6 in the NIV version says, but when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen.

00:02:20.669 --> 00:03:06.000
Then your father who sees what is done in secret, he will reward you. Where do you pray then? Alone in your room to have one on one time. Now question, have you ever been rewarded by God? Isn't it like the best feeling in the entire world? Well, you can get Rewards if you spend alone time with God. And I don't mean that in a greedy way, I mean that in the most beautiful relational way. It's like when you leave a little love letter to your spouse for them to read later on in the day in their lunchbox. Or how your mom would leave a note for you in your lunchbox for you to open up later on. That's a reward, a reward of love, a reward of affirmation.

00:03:06.639 --> 00:03:28.719
And you will start to see God rewards you in small ways when you put in the time to be with him one on one. And let me encourage you, keep your eyes open to God's rewards, because if you practice prayer in secret, the rewards will come. And those rewards are God's affirmation that he hears you.

00:03:29.680 --> 00:03:33.479
You know, a great song to listen to is Breathe by Michael W. Smith.

00:03:33.479 --> 00:03:48.150
It's an old song and the verse pretty much goes, this is the air I breathe, this is the air I breathe, your holy presence living in me. And then this is my daily bread.

00:03:48.629 --> 00:04:03.099
This is my daily bread, your holy word spoken to me. And it is a beautiful song about spending time with God, that he's the air I breathe, he's my portion in the morning.

00:04:03.580 --> 00:04:21.660
He's the first person thing I go to before I even start my day to fill me up. And when I have him every single day, he's pretty much my morning coffee, he's my morning news, and he's what fills me up before anyone else does.

00:04:22.139 --> 00:04:25.819
So if you're wondering in your prayer, where should I pray?

00:04:26.470 --> 00:04:29.910
Simple answer, alone in your room in the morning or at night.

00:04:30.069 --> 00:04:48.790
And then if you're wondering when, start every single day for 15 to 30 minutes at your house, in the morning, at night, it doesn't matter. But here's what matters. Start today. Even at the end of this podcast, start your prayer time with God. Let's pray.

00:04:49.189 --> 00:05:43.240
God, I thank you for every person listening to this, God, that they are yearning to deepen their prayer life with you, Jesus. So God, I pray if we have some very busy people listening to this podcast, they have families, they have jobs that they just have no time to find you. God, I pray that you will miraculously open up a time slot for them to pray and spend time with you. And maybe all it is is waking up 30 minutes earlier so they can get that prayer time in. But God, I know that you desire to meet with us, so help us navigate when we can meet with you. And Jesus, give us the drive to do it consistently every day. We know that if we show up, you will already have been there ready to speak to us. So God we thank you and we glorify you in all that we do, and in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:05:43.879 --> 00:06:04.870
So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow, we pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
