Pray In All Circumstances

Be honest…do you only talk to God when you need help? In today’s episode, Lauren Alessi shares the importance of praying in all circumstances—not just when we need something or during our set devotional time, but throughout every moment of our day. We’ll discover together how prayer can become a natural rhythm in our lives, why it doesn’t have to be long or complicated, and how gratitude and persistence go hand in hand as we seek God’s will.
Join us as we encourage one another in making prayer a constant conversation, and lean into God’s presence in every situation. Let’s pray and grow together as a community, inviting God into every part of our day.

You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1269. Today's Devo is called Praying in All Circumstances. Hey there.
00:00:10.800 --> 00:00:43.869
We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Hello, everybody. My name is Lauren Alessi. I am your host for this week. And I hope you didn't hear my family in the background of the last episode. But, you know, it's okay. I did warn you. No, it's actually, it's fun.
00:00:43.869 --> 00:00:46.909
Again, this is the realistic gets. Welcome to our life.
00:00:48.429 --> 00:00:52.030
Stephanie's now over her with her children. So it's a good time.
00:00:52.189 --> 00:01:06.760
It's, it's, it's a party in our house right now. So, yeah, this is the realest this podcast is going to get. They're actually right now talking about figuring out who the next Pope is, who's going to take over as the next Pope.
00:01:07.319 --> 00:01:18.760
Okay, so we are going to talk today about praying in all circumstances. So I know that sounds a little bit repetitive from yesterday. Pray with persistence.
00:01:18.920 --> 00:01:33.480
Maybe you're thinking, okay, that's like, like kind of the same, but it's actually very different. And we'll get into that. Today's verse of the day is 1st Thessalonians 5, 17. And I'm actually going to go from 16 to 18, and it says this.
00:01:33.480 --> 00:01:47.879
Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Let's. I'm going to focus on verse 17, which says this. Pray continually.
00:01:48.750 --> 00:02:09.310
But verse 18 says, Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. I find that interesting because how many times are we like, what is God's will? What is God's will? What is God's will? Is it his will for me to move? Is it his will for me to stay? This is God's will for you. Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances.
00:02:09.389 --> 00:02:12.349
That's from the Bible, y' all. Just saying.
00:02:13.069 --> 00:02:16.139
Okay, so that's our verse of the day.
00:02:16.699 --> 00:02:24.060
So prayer isn't just confined to church walls or our. Our morning. My morning Devos.
00:02:24.379 --> 00:03:31.710
This isn't it. And I, I really hope, for the sake of your own personal life, I hope this isn't your only Prayer time. I hope that when you go to church, when you listen to this devo, that that's not it. I hope you do have your own devotional, and I hope that it's an ongoing devotional. This is a great way to start your devotion. But I had said it a little while ago, this shouldn't be your end, all be all devotional. This should be a great way to get into the habit of doing devotionals. And then you should have your own personal devotion with Christ. Yeah, just felt like I should say that. And we are invited to be aware of God's presence in all things, continually bringing our dreams and desires, our thoughts, our thanks, our concerns to him. And again, maybe this sounds like a little repetitive of yesterday being persistent, but this is praying in all circumstances. We don't just pray till we get the blessing. And then once we get the blessing, we're like, oh, okay, I don't, I don't need to pray anymore. I feel, you know, I feel kind of good. No, this is praying in the highs, this is praying in the lows.
00:03:32.340 --> 00:04:52.379
This is praying when you're out of town, when you're in town, when you have the job, when you don't have the job, when you have the spouse, when you don't have the spouse. This is praying in all circumstances, when you're in church, when you're not in church. This is it. And I, I just want to say I don't. I want my heart to be heard here. I don't think that it needs to be a religious, a religious duty at all. That's not what I'm saying. My grandma set me free one time because she was like, you know, sometimes I don't even pray at night. Sometimes my prayer just simply looks like I get away from everybody. I go during the day and I just say, you know, thank you, Lord. My life is. My life is really good. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. She goes, that's my prayer for the day. Sometimes, sometimes it doesn't need to be a long, drawn out thing. Sometimes it could just be a beautiful thanks and glory to him. So I don't want it to be this daunting. It has to be a long, drawn out 20 minutes. You have to be praying because I don't think that that's what God wants from us or ne. I, I just don't think that that's what God sees for us either. Because then that's putting it into a religious perspective that it needs to be 20 minutes every day. No, but prayer should happen in all circumstances. If we are waiting for something, okay, we're praying persistently and we're bringing our requests before God and we're making it known. God, I'm asking you for this.
00:04:53.100 --> 00:05:44.209
But then also, if life is good, we don't just give up praying. If, if we got the blessing, if we got the house, if we got the. If we got the dream spouse, if we got the baby, the miracle baby we've been praying for, then we keep praying. God, thank you, Lord, I thank you for this miracle. God, I give this miracle over to you. God, do with it what you will. Not my will, but your will. God, prayer just isn't confined to a promise, to a miracle, to a waiting season. Prayer happens in all circumstances. So I leave you with this. What small steps can you take to make prayer more constant in your day? Again? It doesn't have to be massive. Set realistic goals for yourself. And two, how can prayer become a natural rhythm rather than like a checklist item? If you're not someone who wants to do it before bed at night, that's fine.
00:05:45.009 --> 00:05:48.850
But how can it become a natural rhythm rather than a checklist item?
00:05:49.730 --> 00:06:18.730
Let's pray today out. Lord, help us stay connected to you throughout our day, God. Not just at night, not just in the morning, God, not just through a podcast, but throughout our entire day. God, help us stay connected to you. And Lord, remind us that we can speak to you at any time, about anything, anywhere. We are God, and let our whole life just be a constant conversation to you. Lord, we give you all the praise, all the glory, and all the honor. In Jesus name we pray.
00:06:18.970 --> 00:06:41.209
Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in. Today we pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
