00:00:00.239 --> 00:00:21.679
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast, episode 1483. Today's devo is called Perspective Change. Hey there, we're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.679 --> 00:00:37.020
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a 5-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everybody. It is Stephanie, and happy Wednesday. Let's continue in our series this week.

00:00:37.020 --> 00:01:55.430
I'm so excited to dive into this devo today because this has been a big thing for me. Can I say this topic has really altered my brain? And I had somebody help me with this early in the year, and I don't want to say it changed my life, but it definitely changed a lot of aspects of my life, making this small change in my mind. So let's dive into this. Titus 1:15 in the NIV version says, to the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. So another thing that I have been needing to constantly work on is my perspective with things. Isn't it interesting how you can walk into a movie with your friends and you walk outta that movie and you believe that it was the worst movie you've ever seen in your entire life, and you are shocked at the story, you're shocked at the actors. You just think, who made this? Who allowed this to even go out? And as you're voicing that opinion to your friends, somebody in the crowd goes, what do you mean? I really liked it.

00:01:55.430 --> 00:01:59.150
And you're like, what?

00:01:59.150 --> 00:02:44.300
What movie did you watch? Are we watching the same movie? Because that was an awful movie. What do you mean that was awful? What do you mean that was funny? I didn't see any chemistry. Sometimes we walk into a room, we walk into a situation, We hear a comment, and then suddenly we have a perspective. And the scary thing is, someone else could be in that same room, can be in that same situation, could have heard the same comment, and have a totally different perspective. Because, and this is why, I realized something about perspective. It is a filter. That we have on our heart that was put there by something.

00:02:44.300 --> 00:02:51.539
Maybe it was a fearful filter. You see everything through the lens of fear. Maybe it's a judgmental filter.

00:02:51.539 --> 00:03:21.500
Maybe you are the judgmental one. Whenever you see a situation, you're going to be the first one to create an opinion. Or you have a positive filter. You're just more optimistic about things. Whatever it is Something happened in your life that placed a filter on your thoughts. I went into that movie and I did not like that movie because I knew who the director was and I don't like the director. And my friend didn't know who the director was, so they had no idea what to expect.

00:03:21.500 --> 00:03:27.979
But you see how we walk in with two different expectations and come out with two different perspectives?

00:03:27.979 --> 00:06:38.399
That happens all the time. The time. So if your filter is off, now your perspective is off, and now you're going to see things very differently. Maybe someone's complimenting you and you just can't accept it or believe it because maybe you've always struggled with your self-worth. Maybe you're always easily angered. Maybe you're easily stressed or easily defeated. If you feel like that's you, then maybe it's because you're looking at things through a filter that's just not true. I'll be very open with you guys. I am Miss Easily Angered. I am Miss Easily I Wanna Disagree With You and I Wanna Prove You Wrong. And I can also find myself very quick to be very hard on myself, more than other people. And it came down to a very low idea of my own self-worth, and I wanted to argue my way out of it. If I could know more than you, if I could be more right than you— I'm being very honest with you guys, please don't judge me, okay? If I could be more right than you, then maybe that will make me feel a little bit better about myself. You see what I'm saying? So now when somebody says, I really like that movie, and I think that they're crazy, now we're in a full-on argument about how that movie was bad. But it was just because I had a perspective, I had a filter that saw that situation as a chance to prove them wrong and to make myself feel better. And I realized I need to really change my filter in life. Where is this coming from? Where is this idea of low self-worth coming from? And when I found it, I had to change it immediately. And the best way to change that belief system that has festered in your soul for maybe years, the best way to combat it is to speak over it every morning with scripture, what your new perspective will be. You have to start declaring, I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. I am the workmanship of Christ, which is Ephesians. Philippians 1:6, he who started a good work in me will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Every morning you need to speak over your heart and your mind and your body that you are aligned with the word of God only. That's how I filter my thoughts. That's how I filter my belief system. That's how I filter what I believe about myself. I filter it all through the word of God, and I speak it over myself. And if you start to do that, watch how slowly your old perspective will start to shift and just die away. And now you will walk into a situation and have a perspective that's pure and godly, and you won't be so easily angered. You won't be so easily defeated or stressed, because now you are pure. And to the pure all things are pure.

00:06:38.399 --> 00:06:45.439
So today, take your thoughts captive and shift your perspective and see how God can change your thoughts.

00:06:45.439 --> 00:07:03.910
Let's pray. God, we thank you so much for the power of scripture, for the power of your word. We thank you that you have given us this authority to change our minds, to change our hearts because of your word and your Holy Spirit. So Father, Today, we rebuke all negativity.

00:07:03.910 --> 00:07:37.720
We rebuke all stress. We rebuke all low self-worth. Instead, we are stepping into boldness. We are stepping into confidence. We are stepping into a high self-worth for ourselves. We are stepping into the image you have created for us. We are stepping into your spirit to be simply more like you. And we thank you, God, for speaking over our lives. In Jesus' name we pray, amen. So there you have it, your 5-minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
