00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:13.919
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1375. Today's Devo is called Perfect Faith. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.000 --> 00:00:28.949
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

00:00:29.190 --> 00:01:09.760
Well, we've made it to the end of our week. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. This is your host, Gabby. And I have so enjoyed these devos. These are probably some of my favorite devotional episodes that I've done in a long time because it's so timely, but it also speaks directly to me and I'm feeling this and I'm feeling encouraged as I speak this, but I think this all just goes back to faith comes from hearing the word of God. Because even just reading these verses out loud, speaking them, talking them out loud in this little studio of mine, I'm all alone. But man, my faith is being built up every, every minute that I'm in here.

00:01:10.079 --> 00:01:17.400
And so I hope you're feeling the same. And I want to conclude this week of faith, talking about where our faith comes

00:01:17.400 --> 00:01:21.209
3. So it's about three verses.

00:01:21.209 --> 00:01:32.250
It says this. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off anything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.

00:01:32.489 --> 00:01:43.329
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him.

00:01:43.329 --> 00:02:11.699
He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. There is so much in these verses that I can talk about, but these are a couple of pointers and things that I'm gonna. I wanna leave you with this weekend that also can take you into Saturday and Sunday that we can hold on to.

00:02:13.219 --> 00:02:50.349
Number one, we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, meaning we're not alone. Number two, Throw off anything that hinders you. Throw off anything that hinders you from having faith. Throw off anything that hinders you from believing in the Lord. Throw off anything that hinders you from being confident. It might be the time spent on our phone. I got to tell you, I had to get off of certain social media apps. I had to stop listening to podcasters. I had to get away from any new information that I wanted to seek out and figure out why, because it was hindering me from having faith in God.

00:02:51.389 --> 00:03:05.080
So that's another nugget. Throw off anything that hinders. Throw off the sin that so easily entangles. If you're finding yourself, get angry or frustrated or disappointed or. Or you want to act on your anger, throw that off.

00:03:06.120 --> 00:03:09.879
Then we go into this point run with perseverance.

00:03:10.039 --> 00:03:24.840
The race marked out for you. God has given you a race. God has created a race for you. And in this season, we have to persevere. We have to run. We can't sit. We can't sit on our hands. We can't sit idly by.

00:03:24.840 --> 00:03:53.479
We can't slow down. We cannot walk. We cannot speed walk. We have to continue to run the race and persevere, even through the ups and the downs, even through the good days and the bad days. We have to run the race that is marked out for us personally. And in that race, we have to fix our eyes on Jesus. And this is the point that I want to focus on. Here it says, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and the perfecter of faith.

00:03:54.460 --> 00:04:00.699
You see, our faith, it started with Jesus, and it's being made perfect with Jesus.

00:04:01.659 --> 00:04:05.020
You might feel like, I don't have enough faith.

00:04:05.819 --> 00:04:08.860
Well, Jesus is perfecting that faith daily.

00:04:09.498 --> 00:04:28.050
And the more we have faith in him and the more we rely on him, he will continue to come through. And every time he comes through, your faith builds a little bit. It's almost like a relationship with trust. You know, I'm recently married, and so I'm literally in my first week of marriage.

00:04:29.089 --> 00:05:12.060
And I told my husband a couple weeks ago when we were not married yet, I said, you know, in the last couple years of us dating, I thought we were building trust. And we were. But really, day one of our marriage is day one of building a complete new level of trust. And the more that I trust my husband and trust Christian, and then he comes through on that, then my trust will build. And throughout our marriage, we'll continue to build our trust. And I might start off with a little bit of trust, but you know what? I'm going to give him that little bit of trust, because throughout the years, it'll just build and build and build. And the more we go through together as a couple, our trust for one another will build and grow.

00:05:12.939 --> 00:05:15.899
I believe we can say the same thing about our faith in Jesus.

00:05:16.699 --> 00:05:29.180
If you're a new believer, you might think, well, I don't have a lot of faith. And you might read the story about, oh, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move a mountain. And you might go, well, I don't even have faith that small. How do I know it's that small?

00:05:30.300 --> 00:06:03.250
Start with a little bit of faith. Give that to the Lord. Have that faith in Jesus. Believe for the job to come through. Believe that when you give of your tithes and your offerings that God will come and bless you. Believe that you are healed. Believe. Believe that your marriage will work. Believe that your children aren't coming home. Believe for it. Have faith for it. And if it's just a little bit, you'll see that when Jesus comes through, your faith will grow. That's what it means of how Jesus is perfecting our faith. It starts with him. He is the pioneer. Without Jesus going on that cross and dying for our sins, we would not have faith today.

00:06:03.569 --> 00:06:07.410
It started with him and it's being made perfect with him.

00:06:08.060 --> 00:06:23.180
When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we look at his life and it's an example of the faith that we need to have, which is the last verse here. It's saying, for the joy set before him, he endured the cross scorning its shame, and he sat down at the right hand of the Father.

00:06:23.500 --> 00:06:34.949
Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners so that you will grow, not grow weary or lose heart. I'm going to wrap this up quickly because I'm already going long. Look at the life of Jesus.

00:06:35.670 --> 00:06:54.470
If Jesus, in the midst of persecution, sacrifice and death, was able to have faith in his Father and know that God was going to work out all things for the good of those who loved him. If Jesus was able to do that, you and I can do that.

00:06:55.029 --> 00:07:02.079
Look to Jesus today so we won't grow weary and lose heart. God, thank you for this week.

00:07:02.639 --> 00:08:45.179
