00:00:32.200 --> 00:01:38.760
Stephanie here. And I am so excited to dive into this week's set of devos, where we talk about peace over anxiety. This is one of my favorite topics. I'm. I'm ready to be preaching this. I'm ready to be believing this. So let's dive into it. I'm reading all this week. I am reading from the ESV version of the Bible and I'm starting with Mark 14, 4, 35, 41. And it says, and a great windstorm arose and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, he being Jesus. And they woke Jesus and said to him, teacher, do you not care that we are perishing? And Jesus awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, peace, be still. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. He said to them, why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith? And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, who then is this that even the wind and the sea obey him?
00:01:38.920 --> 00:02:02.469
Amen. You know, when I became a mom for the first time in my life, I started to recognize what anxiety was, because you have this little vulnerable baby who is now your full responsibility. It is this tiny little alien looking thing that is so tender, so sweet. You've never had a baby before.
00:02:02.790 --> 00:03:26.039
I was never really around babies growing up. I helped out in the nursery every once in a while, but I wasn't a professional. So when I had this baby, there were moments that I recognized that my thoughts could easily slip into, like, a pool of fear. And it would be from one second to the next. I'd be walking down the stairs, happy, ready to start my day. And I would just immediately picture me slipping and throwing the baby in the air and dropping the baby. And it was just awful. The fear that would come into my mind at the most random parts of the day. And what I realized was that I had to get rid of that fear, those fearful thoughts immediately, the second they came Up. I had to cast them down because over time, those thoughts of fear would hinder me. They would even paralyze me. I would feel nervous to take the baby out of the house because I had allowed so many small, fearful thoughts to get me to that point. You know, maybe you have a pool of fear in your head and it's just waiting for you to dive into it. Maybe fear is welling up like a storm, just like it surrounded Jesus on the boat. We worry about our country and where it's headed. We worry about the economy. We worry about our children and the future generations. There are plenty of things out there for us to fear.
00:03:26.919 --> 00:03:34.039
But I learned that what feeds our fear the most is this. Our words.
00:03:35.319 --> 00:04:12.060
Did you know that your thoughts are basically waiting for your words to just repeat them? It's like you have the thought and you can either stop it or continue it with your words. So why not just put a stop to those fearful thoughts and just say something differently? Why not say, hey, fear, I'm gonna be bold today. I'm gonna quiet you down. Today we're gonna rest in hope and in peace. And in life. I am protected. My children are protected. My house is protected. My family is protected. My.
00:04:12.919 --> 00:04:35.560
My job. I am protected by Jesus. There is hope for my children. There is life for my body. Why not end those thoughts of fear with words of hope? You know, guys, we're in a big storm right now, but we can step up every single day and say, peace, be still, and the storm will be quieted.
00:04:35.879 --> 00:04:42.819
You can declare that over your family, over your homes, over your minds, over your marriage, over your friendships.
00:04:43.139 --> 00:04:54.259
Every single day we're going to wake up and speak peace in Jesus name and watch those thoughts of fear become quieter and quieter and quieter.
00:04:54.420 --> 00:05:04.980
Because today you stood up and when anxiety tried to creep in, when fear tried to get a hold of your thoughts, you stopped it and you declared peace. Be still.
00:05:05.740 --> 00:05:16.860
Let's pray. God, we just thank you for the boldness in your spirit that you are giving us today. We rebuke anxiety. We rebuke fear. We rebuke worry.
00:05:17.019 --> 00:05:20.540
And we declare peace. We declare comfort.
00:05:20.620 --> 00:06:11.519
We declare unity. We declare life. In the name of Jesus. So everywhere we go today, Father, give us the drive, give us the motivation to declare, declare your peace everywhere we go. That no word of fear, no word of worry will creep into our hearts, will creep into our minds, but will put a stop to it with the word peace every time we encounter it. Today, Father. And in Jesus name we pray Amen and Amen. So There you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
