00:00:00.400 --> 00:00:21.280
You're listening to my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1496. Today's Devo is called Palm Sunday. Hey there. We're the Alessi's a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.280 --> 00:00:43.549
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Monday. Welcome to Holy Week. We are so excited because this is a big week for us Christians and it's going to be a little bit different because you don't have just one host.
00:00:43.549 --> 00:01:31.250
This week we're actually going to take turns. All of us girls going through different days of Holy Week and they get the privilege of starting with Palm Sunday. And I, we celebrated Palm Sunday yesterday, but we're still going to go through the events of Holy Week this week and it's going to be amazing to just go through it together, truly meditate and talk about the week that truly historically did everything for us Christians and is the reason why we're still here today. And today I actually want to read from John 12 and, and it's a couple of verses and it says, the next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took the palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting hosanna.
00:01:31.250 --> 00:01:34.769
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
00:01:34.769 --> 00:02:04.150
Blessed is the King of Israel. Jesus found a donkey and sat on it as it is written, do not be afraid. Don't daughter of Zion, see your king is coming seated on a donkey colt. You know, this is amazing for us Christians because Palm Sunday is not only the start of everything, but it also became a day where prophecy was fulfilled.
00:02:04.150 --> 00:02:15.180
Because four years before Christ, when it was silent, we didn't hear the voice of God for a long, long time. And people were longing for it.
00:02:15.180 --> 00:04:58.959
You had written word of prophets prophesying that Jesus the king would ride in in a donkey. And it happened. Not only was it written many years before Christ, but then Christ came and he fulfilled that prophecy. And it is such a beautiful picture because at that time people were waiting for a rescue to their current issues and their current kind of oppression. And they saw it more as a political rescuer, but in reality, Jesus came as a spiritual savior, not just as a savior of their current politics at the time, he came after spiritual savior who would take care of their souls. Forever. Who would do the work in the Cross for us to be here today. And that is such a beautiful picture for us because of that day and what Jesus did. We get to stand here today. And there's many other things that we can see. But Jesus entered with humility. It shows, by the way, what he chose to enter with a donkey. He was humble and he still comes into our lives the same way. Not forcing his rule, but inviting us to welcome Him. It is a beautiful picture that this, to this day, Jesus still comes into our lives with humility. And he's still making sure that he is with us. And that is such a beautiful picture that we get to see many years ago on Palm Sunday, but that his character is still true till this day. And that because he came as a spiritual savior, you and I get to stand here today. So let's not forget that Palm Sunday was a big Sunday to worship Jesus, to celebrate Jesus. And they did it that day thinking one thing. But we get this perspective many years later where now we get to worship Jesus because we truly know the work of the Cross. And so today, as you are going to work, as you are going to school, as you are taking time to listen to this devotional, take some time to praise him because he deserves all the praise. Maybe you don't have to pick up a palm branch to do so, but from your heart, from the inner parts of your heart, make sure that we worship Jesus. Because we do now know how the story ends. And that is with a humble Savior who saved our souls. So let's pray today.
00:04:58.959 --> 00:05:47.649
Father God, thank you so much for the work that you did in the cross many years ago. Thank you that it started with Palm Sunday as you entered Jerusalem. Thank you for modeling humility to us, your children. But thank you, Father, for enduring all those moments, hard moments, the moments that you knew were coming so we could live today, so we could live a life where we get to access you directly, Lord. We get to hear you directly every single day. And where we get to praise you, Lord, from our hearts, knowing how the story ends, that you resurrected, that you are the King of kings, Lord, and that you love us abundantly. So we thank you for that. Today, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
00:05:47.649 --> 00:06:09.569
