Mind Your Mind

Do your thoughts start to take over during challenging seasons? In today’s episode, hosts Gaby and Mary Alessi invite us into day four of their “Submit to the Season” series, focusing on the crucial topic of minding our minds. We’ll learn together how to take every thought captive, overcome doubt, and intentionally fill our lives with faith—especially when circumstances or even people around us try to plant seeds of unbelief. Through personal stories and scriptural wisdom, we’ll explore practical ways to replace anxious thoughts with God’s truth and surround ourselves with encouragement that builds our faith.
Let’s gather as a community in prayer and devotion, asking God to help us guard our minds and trust His faithfulness in every season.

00:00:07.919 --> 00:00:37.530

00:00:37.689 --> 00:00:45.210
Good morning, mom. Good morning, Gabrielle. This has been incredible. It has really been revelational.
00:00:45.369 --> 00:01:10.239
Yes. I think this has been one of my favorite topics so far and I hope it's really blessed everybody that's listening, please give us some feedback. Comment, message us. If this is blessing you, we'd love to hear about it. And we're even giving you a bonus episode at the end of the week. So it's going to be fun. You're welcome. All right, take us into the next episode, which is on M. The letter. M.
00:01:10.640 --> 00:01:25.510
Mind your mind. We're going to talk today about the letter M in the acronym of the word submit. If you've missed the other three, go back and listen to them. Today is M. And we're learn about how to mind our mind in the waiting season.
00:01:25.829 --> 00:01:35.909
In this delayed season, what do we do with our mind? Because that's what gets crazy on us, Gabby. We get carried away with our thoughts. In 2 Corinthians 10, 4, 5, here's the answer. Always go to the word of God.
00:01:36.310 --> 00:01:58.870
It tells us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they're mighty. To pull down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing, here's the key, every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, we have to pull down strongholds. What are strongholds? Human reasoning.
00:01:59.590 --> 00:02:26.169
The things that keep us from what we talked about yesterday. Believing our own limitations, where our ceilings are, our past, the limitations we put on ourselves, our lack of faith. So we have to put aside our false arguments, our proud opinions, and we have to put down our human reasoning because it's not going to work in this season. No. And this is not how God, he won't work with those tools and those resources.
00:02:26.569 --> 00:03:05.250
So we have to lay those down and we have to mind our mind. You know, I remember and I talked about this, I think on day one Here, the season of infertility. And my mind started to tell me after a year, two years, three years going into that fourth year that it's just not going to happen. Well, then the doctor said it too. And at some point I had to say, well, am I going to believe God for this baby or am I not going to believe God for this baby? And I learned through the season of infertility, which I've told you guys more times. I look back on that season and it was a masterclass in faith. Wow. Everything that I learned, it was free.
00:03:05.729 --> 00:03:35.319
Now, it was painful, but it was free. It did cost you something. It cost me a lot. But look what I gained. Exactly what I thought I would never have any of. I have four. I remember a wonderful female pastor. She came and said, you know, you're going to pray to get started and then you're going to pray to get stopped. And I had to really speak that over my mind. That was like she handed me something to put in my brain and say, believe that, say that over and over again. Repeat that repetitively in your spirit.
00:03:35.879 --> 00:03:39.159
Now, I didn't believe was the last thing I believed.
00:03:39.650 --> 00:03:58.449
But whatever it is that you are dealing with that you are struggling to believe, you've got to pull down the strongholds and take every thought into captivity. Because what happens with thoughts that are allowed to have free rein is they become emotions so true. And emotions become very real. And then you're having a panic attack.
00:03:58.770 --> 00:04:20.399
You've got to mind your mind. You've got to pull those thoughts into captivity. And when you think it will never. Maybe not me, maybe I did. All the thoughts, the places we go, the anger. I almost used M for mad because when we go through this season, we just get mad at God. You gotta mind your mind. And you know what? He's okay that you're mad at him.
00:04:21.279 --> 00:04:24.759
He'll take that. That's part of the struggle, that's part of the battle. It's true.
00:04:24.759 --> 00:04:35.930
Mind your mind in this season. Don't let your mind get carried away. Don't let the devil tell you that God is not good. Yes. That somehow you did something that you're. It's not gonna happen for you.
00:04:35.930 --> 00:05:17.699
It's happening for everyone else, but not you. Yes. Don't let that thought take captive your heart. And I think it's replacing those thoughts. Yeah. Like you mentioned it, that not only did you start to doubt if God was gonna do it, the doctor told you this might never happen. That's right. And a lot of people listening, maybe the doubt isn't created in them. Someone's given it to them. And that's where you have to. All right. You receive the note from the doctor, man. I mean, look at Miami and this real estate mom. Everybody's like, it went from a seller's market to a buyer's market overnight. But in the season of it being a seller's market, everybody was like, oh, do not buy. Don't look at houses.
00:05:17.699 --> 00:05:36.149
Nothing's going to be good right now. The market's crazy. And it was putting so much stress on people. And what you have to do is when you hear that doubt and the doubt gets in you, you just got to replace those thoughts. That's right. Find things. Come into agreement with the word of God. Come into agreement with the things that you believe God will do.
00:05:36.470 --> 00:07:18.980
And whenever you think it. And it's funny because it's actually an exercise that you have to start training yourself to do whenever you think God's not going to come through. Find a thought and replace it. God will come through. Yes, God is faithful. Yes, he is. God is able. And, you know, fill yourself and fill your life with people that are on the other side of it that have seen God come through. Yeah. Because you almost have to. I love how it talks about taking captive because when it comes to your mind, you've got to get aggressive with it. You do, because your mind will take over. And you said it. It'll go from one bad thought to a panic attack before you know it. You better believe it. And so surround yourself with anxiety. It's anxiety. And surround yourself with people that have been there that have had to replace their thoughts. And they're on the other side of God's goodness and his faithfulness, and they can continue to pour those good thoughts inside of you versus being around negative people. That's right. Because if you're around negative people, all you're doing is feeding the doubt. Yeah. And you're starving the faith. And you've got to switch that. You need to be around people that feed your faith and they starve your doubt. That's right. And it reminds me of. And we're only going to go a little bit longer because this is an issue people have is the battle of the mind. Someone in our life was trying to get pregnant, and she told me, and it was an obstacle to get pregnant. And she said I had to respectfully not talk to certain family members because whenever I would talk to them about it, they would say it's never going to happen. Look at the statistics look at what the doctor's telling you. Come on, live in reality. And she said, respectfully, I had to stop talking to them about it and get around people that had faith for me. That's right. And that's what we have to do. Yeah.
00:07:18.980 --> 00:07:42.149
When you are around people that are just going to doubt and rain on your parade, you've got to fill yourself with people that, that lift you up and help you. When it comes to your mind, that is good. And you know, there's times we hang on to hope, but there are times we have to build our faith. Yes. And they're not the same thing. So good. And this is another level of walking with God. Wow. You have to build your faith. What do you believe?
00:07:42.310 --> 00:07:49.709
Yes. You've got to mind your mind. So good, Mom. And hope and faith go hand in hand, but they are not the same. It's true.
00:07:49.709 --> 00:08:08.220
You get to. You give up. You know, hope runs out. Doctor tells you it's not going to happen. Market says it's not going to happen. Yeah. But you got to build your faith. It's true. And that's why it's important to surround yourself with people who are faith walkers and faith talkers. Amen. Mom. Pray us out. This is Father. Thank you for the ability to mind our minds.
00:08:08.220 --> 00:08:19.339
And we right now pull into captivity every thought that its only desire is to tell us that you are not good. When you are good.
00:08:19.980 --> 00:08:27.420
You love each and every one of us equally and you are still a miracle worker. And there is nothing that's impossible or too hard for you.
00:08:27.899 --> 00:08:37.590
So we tell our minds that today you are God, you are faithful and you'll come through for your people, and we thank you for it. In Jesus name, amen.
00:08:38.629 --> 00:08:59.590
