Light 'Em Up

Light 'Em Up

What fills your mind at the start of each day? In today’s episode, host Stephanie Muiña invites us to explore the power of what we choose to consume—whether it’s the news, social media, or the Word of God—and how those choices shape our peace and our ability to be a light in a sometimes dark world. Together, we’ll unpack the wisdom of Isaiah 26:3, learning how to keep our hearts centered on Christ and our spirits anchored in His peace, even when life gets overwhelming.

Let’s gather as a community in prayer and devotion, seeking God’s guidance so we can shine His hope and love into every room we enter today.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1383. Today's Devo is called Light Em Up.

00:00:07.679 --> 00:00:25.679
Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:00:26.219 --> 00:00:37.820
This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Wednesday, everyone. Stephanie here, and I am so excited to continue on the series of Peace Over Anxiety.

00:00:38.460 --> 00:00:56.899
3. In the ESV version, it says, you keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you. I want to encourage all of you to choose wisely what you put your mind to.

00:00:57.539 --> 00:01:23.390
What do you put in front of your eyes and your ears on a daily basis? Because the truth is this life is hard. Even without the world events, even without considering what's going on in the global world, life has a lot of stuff that's going on. Our individual lives matter are hard and have a lot for us to navigate through.

00:01:24.269 --> 00:01:57.340
But I want to encourage you today to keep your mind stayed on Christ. You know, I understand that it is our responsibility to be aware of the world events. It's good for us to stay updated with what's happening in our country, in the economy, in politics. But we should also be aware of our limits. You know, the news and the world events. It's like paint. If you watch it or you listen to it, it will stick on you. No one is exempt from it.

00:01:57.579 --> 00:02:04.980
Everyone will get a little bit of the residue that you listen to on you. So then the next question is this. How much of it do

00:02:04.980 --> 00:02:30.780
33 says, your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it's bad, your body is full of darkness. Which means that whatever you consume daily will soon become the world that you live in. If you consume conflict and negativity every day, then all you will see is conflict and negativity.

00:02:31.419 --> 00:02:45.389
And yes, the truth is we live in a world where politics are stressful. Our country is not perfect. There are wars and there's poverty, and darkness is very much a part of our world. But here's the secret.

00:02:45.789 --> 00:02:59.629
We don't ignore the darkness. We become the light in the darkness. That's why the word of God needs to be our daily bread. Before the news because it's what makes us shine brighter in the dark times.

00:03:00.270 --> 00:03:37.870
Your family, your friends, your church, your workplace needs you to be the light. If the outside pressures are starting to interfere with you being the light, then maybe it's gone too far. If it's starting to interfere with your authority in Christ, if it's making you forget your identity in Christ, then maybe we've allowed it to go too far in our minds. You need to be the light when you walk into a room today. So put your eyes on Jesus first, before anything else at the beginning of the day and see how you start to change. You'll start to speak with more hope.

00:03:38.030 --> 00:03:41.789
You'll have a more optimistic and faithful perspective on things.

00:03:42.270 --> 00:04:08.120
You will become the light because you found your source in Jesus. Let's pray God, we understand that our world isn't perfect. We understand that it's our responsibility to care for our world, to care for our country. But we also understand we have to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. And we have to stay in perfect peace because our mind is stayed on you.

00:04:08.680 --> 00:04:49.600
So Father, make us the light wherever we go today, we put you at the center of our minds, at the center of our spirit, and at the center of our souls. Because we want to be so filled up with you that wherever we go, all people see in us is you. We want to be the light and the darkness. We want to be the hope in the hopelessness. So Father, fill us up with your spirit, fill us up with your joy, block out any of the negativity and allow us to bring your hope into every room we walk into today. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
