00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:22.160
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1446. Today's Devo is called Light and Salvation. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.160 --> 00:00:40.820
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone, My name is Lauren Alessi and I am your host for this week. And because you haven't heard it from me, I want to wish you all a happy new year.
00:00:40.820 --> 00:00:48.299
I can't believe we are in 2026. It is so crazy to think that we are already in the year 2026.
00:00:48.299 --> 00:00:52.140
And I hope that you are having a wonderful new year so far.
00:00:52.140 --> 00:02:51.189
So when we were kind of reflecting on what to talk about in the new year, what to talk about in January, we were all just like, you know what, let's just get personal. Let's talk about what the new year means for us, what it's looking like going into this new year, and in case you missed it, in December's week where I hosted, I am engaged. I'm getting married this year. And I am so excited. I'm so taken back by God's goodness. I'm almost overwhelmed by God's goodness, to be honest with you. And I kind of just want to dive into that this week and just talk about just living in the goodness of God. What it's like, how sometimes it could just be so great and so good. Not just because of a wedding, not just because of a fiance. No, it's so much more than that. It's walking into the harvest that you've sown for. It's walking into the promise that God had for you. It can be overwhelming. It can just be like, wow, God, you do come through. You do provide miracles. It could be so overwhelming that sometimes I don't know how to pray. I don't know how to thank God enough. And so just personal reflection, personal thought that sometimes when I think, how do I thank God? How do I even have devotional time? How do I even reflect on things before? Because I'm not longing for something, right? I'm not praying for something. I just go to the Book of Psalms because it's a book of worship, it's a book of giving thanks. It's a book of reflection. And so when we were talking about making this week Personal and personal to ourselves and sort of bringing you in on our process and hoping you can relate to it. I just thought, why not just read out of one of my favorite chapters in Psalms? And I know that I'm blessed from it, and I know that you will be, too. So this week we are reading out of Psalms 27. And honestly, I'm just going to read from. From the whole chapter, not just one verse, maybe a couple verses throughout the day.
00:02:51.189 --> 00:02:54.949
Today we're going to read Psalms 27. 1, 2.
00:02:54.949 --> 00:04:06.729
I'm reading in the NIV version, if you want to follow along. And it says this. The Lord is my light and my salvation, Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advanced against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. When I was kind of going through this process of how do I even thank God for what he's done in my life? Because I'm just so taken back. And again, in case you missed it, my. My story, I guess you could call it, was that I was single for a little bit. I saw a lot of my friends get married, have babies, go before me. Most of my family have babies and. And get married before me. And so I really prayed for the right one to enter my life for. I'm not going to say a long time, but I pray for a bit. I sowed the right seeds to make sure that the right one would enter my life in its proper timing. So to see this harvest season come to life, it can be a little like, wow, God, you're just so good. I don't know what to pray for now. I don't know what to do. And maybe that sounds so weird, maybe that sounds so strange. Maybe you don't know what to think of what I'm saying.
00:04:06.729 --> 00:04:41.910
But all I can go back to is just the book of worship in the Bible, the book of giving thanks to God that says simply, the Lord is my life light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? And maybe you're not in a harvest season. Maybe you're still praying for God to answer your prayers. Maybe you're like how I was. You're still praying for God to come through, and maybe it's a spouse. Maybe you're still praying for God to come through and give you kids. Whatever it is, this is still the same prayer. It still applies. The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?
00:04:41.910 --> 00:04:45.569
The Lord is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid.
00:04:45.569 --> 00:05:08.050
I think of a friend right now that she's going through a tough time just with familial issues, just issues in her family and I want to speak this verse over her. The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? And when the wicked advanced against me to devour me. Because let's not forget, that's what the wicked does. That's what sin does. It's not to just mess with us, it comes to devour us.
00:05:08.050 --> 00:05:16.129
So when the wicked advanced against us to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Why?
00:05:16.129 --> 00:05:30.769
Because the Lord is the stronghold of our life. So who shall we be afraid of? He is our light and our salvation. Of whom shall we fear? I'm excited to dive into this book of psalms today, I hope, or this week, and I hope you are too.
00:05:30.769 --> 00:05:35.490
Let's just pray for an awesome, awesome new year, an awesome day ahead.
00:05:35.490 --> 00:06:20.009
And let's just get this week started with and this day started with Dear Lord, we thank you so much and we enter your gates with thanksgiving.
