Life Of Surrender: Part 3

Life Of Surrender:  Part 3

What does it look like to truly let go of our old habits and live each day with a sense of surrender? In today’s episode, host Lauren Alessi leads us into Part 3 of our “Life of Surrender” series. Together, we’ll explore what it means to daily let go of our own desires and make room for Christ to shape our hearts, inspired by the powerful words of Paul in Galatians 2:20. As a community, we’ll reflect on how surrender transforms the way we think, act, and love those around us, no matter our starting point or the struggles we may carry.

Join us for this nurturing devotional and let’s pray together for strength and grace as we walk in the truth that Christ now lives in us—changing our lives from the inside out.

You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1328. Today's episode is called Life of Surrender Part 3. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.839 --> 00:01:30.090
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone. You are listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast and I am Lauren Alessi, your host for this week. And I just love this topic. Talking about dying to ourselves, a life of surrender. And it's so funny because I've been doing a lot of like the New Testament reading again. I try to do it like once a year and just get it in my system. And you just hear this topic so much about dying to ourselves and really what we think, what we want, all these things, it really pales in comparison to, to Christ and what Christ wants for us and what Christ imagines for us. And that doesn't mean we're not allowed to have, you know, human desires, things that we do as humans, because we are human and that's how God created us. But constantly living a life of, okay, I died of this, I die to this desire, I die to this habit, I die to this mindset and I make room for Christ to come in is what's truly important. Let's jump into the scripture

00:01:30.090 --> 00:01:56.560
20. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. This is Paul writing this. And I'm just picturing Paul saying this and thinking this as Paul, who once was Saul, crucified Christians, now is a Christian and is speaking to other Christians. And here he says, when Christ was crucified, my old self was crucified with him.

00:01:57.040 --> 00:02:15.520
Me, Paul, I no longer live, but it's Christ who lives in me. And what a beautiful image to say, okay, our old selves, even ourselves, now we no longer live, but it's Christ who lives in us. And even if we go back to Matthew or sorry, to Luke

00:02:15.520 --> 00:02:37.909
23, whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. In comparison to this verse, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, using those on a daily basis, picturing taking up our cross daily and also picturing our old selves and our daily selves, being crucified on the cross with Jesus and Christ living in us daily.

00:02:38.469 --> 00:03:23.830
If we can get that daily reminder, I can really see how it can be easier for us to live a life full of surrender, not getting caught in little issues. Maybe that happened from the past, maybe things that we just haven't taken control of and said, okay, I fully give this to God, but if every day we can picture, okay, I'm going to take up my cross daily and follow Jesus. And more than that, I've been crucified with Christ and I no longer live. But it's Christ who lives in me, and that daily reminder of Christ lives in me. Therefore, this old mindset that, that I was raised in a bad home that keeps lurking in and I'm no longer going to raise my kids this way. I no longer live in that mindset because Christ lives in me.

00:03:23.830 --> 00:04:04.770
And that mindset was crucified on the cross with Jesus. Or maybe you just need healing in your body. I've been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And Christ is full of healing. Christ wants to heal you, so walking in faith and saying, but Christ lives in me, therefore I live in healing and I walk in healing. Whatever you need today, I just pray that you can picture right now that if you're on your way to work, if you're on your way to school, if you're in your kitchen preparing breakfast for your kids, whatever you are doing, I pray that you just get like 30 seconds to a minute to close your eyes and picture your earthly self being crucified on the cross with Jesus.

00:04:05.969 --> 00:04:31.980
And just picture that you no longer live, but the you today that is walking, breathing, doing things, it's Christ living in you. If Paul could do it, who was once Saul, who's now Paul, who once crucified Christians and is now a preacher preaching to Christians, we should be able to do the same thing every day. Say, nope, my old self was crucified on the cross.

00:04:32.459 --> 00:04:42.870
Jesus took my sins with it. Jesus took my old habits, my old mindsets with it. And I no longer live. But Christ lives in me. Let's pray.

00:04:43.990 --> 00:05:25.379
Father. Please remind us, Lord, that we are no longer who we were, God. And if we keep falling back into those old mindsets, God, into those old habits, Lord, keep reminding us, God, let us not forget. In order to live a life full of surrender. In order to live a life fully pleasing to you, God. God, keep reminding us, Lord, that we are no longer defined by who we were. Lord, help us to live a life of truth that Christ lives in us and help us to hold on to that daily. God and Lord, help that truth shape how we speak, how we love, how we serve our church, how we serve our family, how we serve the people around us. Help that shape everything we do. Lord, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
