00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:20.960
You're listening to My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1439. Today's Devo is called Letting Go and Moving Forward. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:20.960 --> 00:00:32.000
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Thursday.
00:00:32.000 --> 00:01:06.489
My name is Rachelle Alessi. I am your host this week and we have two more days together, today and tomorrow. And I really hope this week is blessing you. So far we've been talking about the new year, new beginnings, direction for our year, just letting go of some things. And today we're going to talk about moving forward. And I touched on this a little bit actually on Monday, but I wanted to go back and just really talk about it on a full episode today because a lot of us have a hard time letting go.
00:01:06.489 --> 00:01:32.849
And it could be letting go in many different areas. It doesn't have to be letting go of just bad, it could be of good that it's time to let go of, of seasons that we have to let go of, that we have to move forward. And. And it reminded me of this verse that says, remember not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth.
00:01:32.849 --> 00:01:36.689
And this is Isaiah 43, 18, 19.
00:01:36.689 --> 00:03:16.740
And I love that it says, behold, I will do a new thing. The Lord is always doing a new thing and creating new things. And we have to learn to let go of certain things for us to get to experience the new thing that God is doing in our life. And I can't tell you what that thing is, but I know in all of our lives there's probably things that we have to let go of. This could be habits, mentalities, people, which is really hard, friendships, stuff that is not good for us. It might even be a season. Maybe we've been operating in a way that it will not fit the next season of our lives because maybe you're getting married or you are having children, or you're stepping into a new year of a different schooling, or you're moving, going somewhere and you have to let go of some of the things that you've known and, and letting go is hard. Letting go is probably the hardest thing we can do because we grow comfortable in a place, even if it's a Bad situation. That's where we've been. And we have to let go of the negative thinking and we have to forgive. Forgiving is letting go. And whether it's good or bad, it's important for us to let go of certain things, for us to be able to. To move into what the Lord has. And it is so powerful to release the past so we can embrace what God is about to do.
00:03:16.740 --> 00:03:33.219
And sometimes if we don't let go, we don't experience new. And the Lord wants us to grow. And part of growing is letting go and maturing and looking at the new thing that God wants to do.
00:03:33.219 --> 00:04:07.509
And something that I had to ask God this year was, what are some things that you want me to let go of? What are some thoughts and ways of doing things that I just really need to let go and be better at and release it and embrace what you truly want me to step into? And that's such a hard question to ask, because the Lord will answer you and you will know what you have to let go of. And some of those things might not be easy, but they will be worth it.
00:04:07.509 --> 00:04:11.669
And it might be painful at the beginning, it might be uncomfortable.
00:04:11.669 --> 00:04:27.029
But to grow, you experience pain and discomfort, but it would only allow you to walk into what God is doing. And we want to be in what God is doing, not our ways, not what we are doing.
00:04:27.029 --> 00:04:38.689
Because ultimately his ways are higher and his thoughts are higher than ours. And we talked about not relying on our own understanding that even comes together with this.
00:04:38.689 --> 00:05:12.579
We cannot rely on what we've always known or have always thought was right. Maybe it's time for us to step forward and take a different direction, make it different, be a little different, do something different. Because the Lord might be calling us to something. He might be expanding our life, our thoughts, the way we see things to a way that we've never seen before to be able to take us to where he wants to take us. And it's such a great reminder that sometimes we have to let go things. So today I encourage you to ask the Lord, if you haven't, maybe you already have.
00:05:12.579 --> 00:05:16.220
Ask him, lord, what are some things that you want me to let go of?
00:05:16.220 --> 00:05:38.069
So I get to experience your new, and I get to walk into what you are doing. Because ultimately we want to be in God's plan. And that remains requires us letting go of the things that he does not want for us, for our lives anymore. That will only become burdens. And it's better to do it early than later, so it doesn't so it's not as hard.
00:05:38.069 --> 00:06:44.310
It will always be easier now than a year from now or two years from now. And I promise you, you'll get to experience God's goodness in such a different way and you will feel so fulfilled because you know you're walking in God's. So let's pray today. Father, I pray that you would help us illuminate our minds, show us, Holy Spirit, the things that we should let go of this year so we can truly walk into the new things that you are doing. Father, we want to partner with you. We want to be in your will, Lord, so help us see that. Father and I pray that as people pray this prayer, Lord, and you show them that your comfort will be there, that you will help them see that you're going to be with them every step of the way. No matter how hard it might look like to let go of these specific things, Lord, you are good and you are faithful and you are going to be with us and you will give us the wisdom to do it the right way, the honoring way, and in a way that we truly get to experience what you have for us. In Jesus name we pray.
00:06:44.310 --> 00:07:06.790
