You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1334. Today's Devo is called let's Talk Part 4. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Well, happy Thursday, guys. We are almost to the end of the week. How is everybody doing today? If you're driving on your way to work, if you are listening on the way to the gym, if you're listening while you're in the shower, I don't know, some people like to listen at all times of day. Maybe you're even listening at night. I love it. You're still getting in your morning devo, your nightly devo. How are we enjoying this series? Is this helping us? Is this. I hope it's. It's kind of coming up to your spirit, into your mind throughout your day. And I hope it's challenging all of us because I know that the minute I put out these devos, I am always challenged on them. So I'm having to prepare myself that the Lord or the enemy or my flesh is going to challenge me on my self talk and talking to other people.
00:01:16.129 --> 00:01:22.299
But today I want to talk about one thing that's involved in our words, which is our heart.
00:01:23.180 --> 00:01:41.900
Let's talk about our heart. Yesterday we talked about our mindset, but now we gotta move into the root of all of our words, which is our heart. Matthew 12, verse 34. And this is Jesus speaking, and he's responding to the Pharisees. He's saying, you brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good?
00:01:42.540 --> 00:02:45.840
For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. You see, whenever we start to notice, our talk is negative, our talk is bitter. Our talk is not. Maybe not ourselves, maybe not your usual talk, how you're. How you're using or how you're talking to those around you. I don't know about y'. All. I've had moments where I'm like, I don't sound like myself. Whenever that happens, I have to check my heart. I actually think the. The heart check is before the mindset check. Because what Jesus is telling us here is that the mouth will always speak what your heart is full of. And in another translation, it says, for the abundance, for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Meaning if you, if you were to look at your speech and look at the words that come from your mouth and you were to go back and look at the root of it, it would always be rooted in your heart. And so we have to look at this. We have to check our heart today. You know, where. Where are you at today? How does your life look?
00:02:46.639 --> 00:03:42.030
Let's examine what God has done in your life or maybe the things that you're waiting for God to do. Let's take a look at everything that God has said to you and promised you. Has it come to pass? Let's look at your family. Let's look at your siblings. Let's look at your spouse, your children, your job, your school, your situation. Let's look at all of it. Is your heart in a good place? Maybe you're listening today and you don't even want to talk about your heart because your heart's broken. Maybe you're going through a season where you just broke up with somebody, somebody broke up with you, or you lost a job, you lost a loved one, and you're in a broken place and you just feel like God let you down. Well, be ready, because the words that you speak will come from that heart. Now, I. I like to believe that we all get some time when we have a broken heart and God gives us grace because it says the in the word that God is near to the brokenhearted.
00:03:43.069 --> 00:03:57.469
But even in the broken season of our lives, let us have a heart that still honors God, that even in the brokenness it says, you know what, Lord? I may not understand it, I surely don't like it, but I still praise you.
00:03:58.520 --> 00:04:01.319
I don't understand why this happened. But God, you're in control.
00:04:02.120 --> 00:04:17.000
You see, when our heart is postured that way, our words go in that direction. When our heart is postured in the place of. I don't get God. He always takes, he doesn't give. He says he's good. But why do bad things happen?
00:04:17.480 --> 00:04:48.089
Everybody says he's a good God, but bad things are only happening to me. Or bad things are happening in the world still. When that is what your heart is set settling on, that's where your words go. That's where your mindset will go and that's where your words will go. And then that's just a constant cycle because you're speaking it. And the more you speak it, the more it gets rooted in your heart. The more it's rooted in your heart, the more it affects your mindset. The more it affects your mindset, which is your filter, the more it affects your speech. And it's a non stop cycle. It is never ending. And here's what stops it.
00:04:48.810 --> 00:05:07.350
What stops it is when we look in the mirror and we ask the Lord God, what am I full of? If the words that I'm speaking, if what's coming from my mouth comes from what I am full of in my heart, God, what am I full of? Am I full of joy?
00:05:07.350 --> 00:05:27.509
Am I full of. Of. Of peace? Or am I am I full of grief, full of pain brokenness. And if you're in that season, season of pain brokenness, then ask the Lord to heal your heart right now. And that's what we just believe God, that you would heal them, heal their heart, heal their brokenness in Jesus name.
00:05:28.470 --> 00:05:50.439
But today let's change our heart to being bitter and frustrated or angry or mad or self seeking. And let's change it to God. I'm here to serve you Lord in the best of times and in the worst of times. I still love you God. As a believer, all I want to do is please you and bless your name. Let that be our heart today. Why?
00:05:50.439 --> 00:06:01.879
Because the words we speak will come from the things that we feel in our heart. Our heart posture. So what are we full of? That's the thought today. Ask the Lord.
00:06:01.879 --> 00:06:31.639
Holy Spirit, show us what we are full of so we can start speaking better. In Jesus name I pray. Amen and Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven.
