Lean On Me

Lean On Me

Do you ever find yourself trying to hold everything together on your own? In today’s episode, Stephanie Muiña explores the hidden weight of self-reliance. Together, we’ll uncover what it means to break through the barrier of ego, lean into God as our firm foundation, and allow His strength—not ours—to open the doors we’re striving for. Through heartfelt stories and encouraging scripture from Psalm 62, we’re reminded that real peace and breakthrough come only when we surrender control and trust in Jesus.

Join us as we come together in prayer and devotion, letting go of our own efforts and relying fully on God’s faithful provision.

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:14.160
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1343. Today's Devo is called Lean on Me. Hey there. We're the Alessi's a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.240 --> 00:00:29.250
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast.

00:00:29.570 --> 00:00:44.289
Happy Wednesday, everybody. Stephanie's here and I am so excited to continue on this topic about breaking something in us before the breakthrough. And today I want to dive into the breaking of self reliance.

00:00:44.929 --> 00:00:59.409
Follow along. I am reading from Psalm 62, 5, 8. And it says, yes, my soul find rest in God. My hope comes from Him. Truly, he is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress.

00:00:59.409 --> 00:01:43.480
I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God. He is my mighty rock, my refuge. I trust in him at all times. You people pour out your hearts to him. For God is our refuge. You know, there's a scary word out there that we all have to face at least once in our lives. And it is ego. Your ego may be very small. It may be big. Mine can be big sometimes. Don't worry. But no matter what, we all have it. And it hides behind self reliance. And let me help identify self reliance for you. You know, the world tells us that we could do it all by ourselves. I can fix my marriage.

00:01:43.560 --> 00:01:47.269
I can be the one to fix my husband or my wife.

00:01:47.349 --> 00:02:02.390
I can be the one to find a job all by myself. And I can grow it myself. I can grow this company by myself. I can be perfectly fine all by myself. Like Miley Cyrus sings, I can buy myself flowers. I can hold my own head.

00:02:03.430 --> 00:02:09.990
That's self reliance. And the beast hiding behind self reliance is ego.

00:02:11.270 --> 00:02:32.889
And let me tell you guys the truth. We are simply vapors. That's what the Bible says in Psalms. We are simply here today, gone tomorrow. And we need something in us to be fulfilled. And the only thing that fills us is Jesus. The only one that can open doors for us is Jesus.

00:02:33.849 --> 00:02:36.889
God is the ultimate provider in our lives.

00:02:37.770 --> 00:02:44.699
No one else is going to bring that breakthrough except for Jesus. And you know what? If he doesn't bring that breakthrough, then I trust him.

00:02:45.419 --> 00:03:15.599
He has my life in his hands. I am simply his servant. My hope comes from Him. He is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress. And here's the fun part. I will not Be shaken because I stand on a firm foundation that is Jesus Christ. You know, if you're relying on yourself to bring that breakthrough, let me just give you some relief. Life can be a lot easier when you just yield to Jesus.

00:03:16.400 --> 00:03:30.639
Now, those doors that you were trying to yank open for your job, that you were trying on dating apps, trying to meet the right one, you've been coming to church hoping for someone to elevate your position. You've just been trying to push the ball down the field.

00:03:31.120 --> 00:03:48.969
Let me tell you, if you relinquish that to the Lord, life becomes so much easier. One time I listened to Cece Winan. She's a massive. The biggest gospel singer out there today. We call her Heaven's Worship Leader. She's going to lead us all in worship when we go to heaven. And you know what they asked her?

00:03:49.370 --> 00:04:58.350
How did you get to where you are today? And she said, y', all, I have nothing in my life that wasn't given to me by Jesus. These doors, this platform, it was given to me by God. And if God took it away from me, tomorrow, I would be perfectly fine. When Jesus is the only person you rely on, you are fulfilled to degrees you never even imagined. Now those doors will open and you won't even have to strive for them. Now those opportunities come your way and you didn't have to push for them. Now you're being elevated. And all you did was praise God. All you did was serve him. You completely relied on the Lord. And then finally breakthrough came. But we first have to make it clear, God, you are the foundation that we stand on. Let's pray. God, I just pray that the spirit of self reliance, that this hustling, that this pushing, that this door forcing will finally just quit. Lord, because you are our provider. You are the one that guides us forward. We will have everything we pray for in the future, but it will come only through you.

00:04:58.910 --> 00:05:35.459
So, Father, for from you are all things and to you are all things, you are the one that brings us our answered prayers. So, Jesus, we no longer rely on ourself. We put away our ego and we rely on you. You are the foundation that we stand on. And all we have to do now is praise you and glorify you and worship you and live with you and enjoy our life and enjoy our friends and enjoy our jobs and enjoy our families and simply let you take the lead so we can rely on you.

00:05:35.540 --> 00:05:39.339
And in Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it.

00:05:39.339 --> 00:05:54.310
Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much. For tuning in. Today we we pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.
