You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1450. Today's Devo is called Land of the Living. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.519 --> 00:02:03.209
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone. My name is Lauren Alessi, and I have been your host for this week. I hope it's been a good week. I tried to stick with, like, one theme, and then as I started, you know, talking, I was like, oh, over here. No, over here. And then it just kind of went all over the place. But I hope it still blessed you. And we've been speaking out of Psalm 27. We went through the whole chapter, really, and today we're going through verses 12 through 14. And actually, this is one of my favorite sections of this chapter, so I'm excited to talk on it. I hope it has blessed you. I know it's blessed me, and I hope you share it with somebody. If there was an episode that really blessed you, let's not forget to share it with others who may need it. Sometimes we can just get, you know, in the usual, oh, this really blessed me. Okay, great, turn it off. But if it really blessed you, share it with somebody you know that's going through a tough time. Share it with somebody you know that maybe doesn't listen to this podcast and not for the sake of. Of. Oh, yeah, let's get the podcast out there. No, let's just share the word of God. Let's share the. The Bible with people who really need to hear it. So, anyways, let's do that. Let's finish up today's week. Let's Finish up Psalm 27, verses 12 through 14. Again, I'm reading out of the NIV and it says this. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. Verse 13.
00:02:03.209 --> 00:02:42.969
I remain confident of this. I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Verse 14. Wait for the Lord. Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. I just love this section of this chapter so much. First of all, I love this part so much because David is writing it so you could just sort of hear, like, the passion and the emotion of David. He's like, don't turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up. Like, basically, they're talking bad about me. Just don't do it. And then he goes, I remain confident of this. I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
00:02:42.969 --> 00:02:46.729
Wait for the Lord, Be strong and take heart.
00:02:46.729 --> 00:03:01.490
And he says, again, wait for the Lord. So, just to be honest, I had never heard this verse 13. I remain confident of this. I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. I have recently heard this verse for the first time.
00:03:01.490 --> 00:03:17.020
I am ashamed to say that, but we had a church conference where my dad, the pastor, got on stage and said, we're all going to declare this. This verse is the theme of our conference, and we're all going to shout it together.
00:03:17.020 --> 00:03:31.900
I remain confident of this. We will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. And there was something, like, so hype about it. I was like, oh, my gosh. Like, wow, we really all believe this. And it was so beautiful and the reason.
00:03:31.900 --> 00:04:41.959
And maybe you're going to be like, Lauren's crazy for saying this, but I really do think this. When we are waiting on God for something, when we're praying for something, I think we can get so stuck in the waiting, because I know I did this. That we truly come into agreement with, okay, maybe I won't see it in this lifetime. Maybe God doesn't want me to have it. Maybe I'll get it in heaven. Maybe my. My kids will have that blessing. Maybe I'll see it later. But I just. Maybe God doesn't want me to have that desire now. So what does that look like? Okay, maybe. Maybe I'm waiting for a spouse. And you know what? Maybe God just doesn't want me to have a spouse, and that's fine. Maybe God just doesn't want to grant that desire. Or, you know, maybe God just doesn't want me to have all the right resources or children. Maybe God just doesn't want me to have children. But, you know, maybe. Maybe God has, like, treasures for me in heaven. Or maybe God's gonna, you know, give my. My sibling a ton of kids and that will be my blessing, and it'll be through them. Can I just say right now, speak this over your life. I remain confident of this. I will see the goodness of the Lord.
00:04:41.959 --> 00:05:04.009
Not in another lifetime, not through somebody else, not in heaven, no, in the land of the living. Here in my lifetime, I will see the goodness of the Lord. Speak that over yourself. And then Take this into account. Wait for the Lord, Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Wait on the Lord.
00:05:04.009 --> 00:05:08.730
For those who wait on the Lord will mount up with wings like eagles.
00:05:08.730 --> 00:05:16.250
We all know that verse. So wait for the Lord, Be strong and take heart and listen. Here's the thing about God.
00:05:16.250 --> 00:06:13.720
Not only do we see the goodness of God in the land of the living, we also see the goodness of God. God in heaven. But please don't come into agreement that maybe God just doesn't want me to have it. No, no, no, no. Stop that thought process right there. I am a living testament of this. Whatever you're praying for, whatever you're sewing towards, whatever you're waiting on, you will see the goodness of God in the land of the living. So wait on the Lord. Let's pray. Lord, we thank you so much for an awesome new year. We are stepping into 2026 and Lord, we just pray right now. Give us faith for this new year, God. Even if it triggers us a little bit, another year getting older. No Lord, let us build faith for this new year. In Jesus name, let us be able to see that you have good things for us in this year, in this lifetime in the land of the living. So let us wait on you. Let us wait for you and let us be strong and take heart. In Jesus name we pray.
