You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1382. Today's Devo is called It's Expensive. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:20.719 --> 00:00:30.670
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everyone.

00:00:31.390 --> 00:00:59.640
Stephanie here, and we are continuing our theme of peace over fear. And I am just so excited to dive into this episode today. So let's read again. I'm reading from the ESV version this week. And I'm reading this morning. Colossians 3, verse 15. And it says, and let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body and be thankful.

00:01:00.840 --> 00:01:11.400
Okay, so I've narrowed it down to three things that are in my life that I will fight anyone for. I've narrowed it down to three. Are you ready?

00:01:11.719 --> 00:01:15.239
Number one, Jesus Christ. I'll go to war for him any day.

00:01:16.040 --> 00:01:42.680
My family, my husband, my children, my. My immediate family, any day. Let's go. And number three, my morning cup of coffee. And I truly mean that I won't do anything to trade those 15 minutes of just a warm mug of delicious, freshly made coffee in the morning when the house is like a little cold and you're still in your PJs.

00:01:42.920 --> 00:01:53.650
There is just nothing like it. Nothing in the world. And I will fight for that morning every single day with my Bible and having my prayer time.

00:01:53.969 --> 00:02:50.870
It's the best. I used to use a Keurig, but then I got saved and I started to do the French press. And then after the French press, I upped it and I got an espresso machine. But it was like a cheap espresso machine that I found on Amazon. And then I graduated to a Breville machine. That is my third child, my Breville machine. My husband got it for me. I, like, cried because I was just so excited to have it. It's expensive, so it makes you feel like you're wealthy when you're not. And when I got it, I didn't know how to use it, but I was so determined. I'm going to become the best at this Breville and. And I'm going to make the freshest coffee every morning. I got the coffee beans, I got all the equipment, I got everything. And now I make an amazing cortado. I'm a cortado girl.

00:02:51.110 --> 00:03:56.490
Holler at me if you are into cortados. But that's my favorite. And I've made it so good that I can go out into the world. I can go to Starbucks, I can go to my parents house, I can go to people's houses and if they offer me coffee, I don't want it. I don't want it. Because I only have two chances to have a good cup of coffee in the day, in the morning and at 3pm And I'm not going to trade any of those moments for just an average cup of coffee. Life is too short guys. Life is too short for a junky cup of coffee. You got to make it good. So if anybody offers me coffee, unless you are a barista, unless you know what I'm talking about, I'd actually rather just pass. Because I know that at my house I have coffee that's too valuable for me just to give up any other cup of coffee. You know that the Bible says to let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. The peace of Christ is expensive. Just like my Breville coffee machine.

00:03:56.969 --> 00:04:21.790
The peace of Christ. Let's discuss what it's not. It is not a collection of mantras. It's not a list of things to just say. It's not an essential oil that reduces stress. It's not writing in your journal every day. Even though I love doing that, I keep going. But the peace of Christ is a ruler, which means it's valuable, it's expensive.

00:04:22.750 --> 00:04:26.430
It is more than anything we can tap into on this earth.

00:04:26.709 --> 00:04:30.149
The peace of Christ is heavenly and it's not of this world.

00:04:30.790 --> 00:04:34.629
So we have to take care of that peace with everything in us.

00:04:35.269 --> 00:05:42.720
We have to treat the peace of Christ like it is the most valuable thing in our lives. I love my Breville machine, but nothing can take away the peace of Christ in me. And if anything tries to take away the peace of Christ, then. Guys, it's not worth it. If me feeling a bit more reassured by watching the news in the morning helps me, but it interferes with my peace of Christ. It's not worth it. If me debating topics with my friends is fun but it starts to mess with my peace of Christ, then it's not worth it. I'll stop if me scrolling on my phone, even though it helps me get a little brain break every once in a while, but it interferes with my peace of Christ, then it's not worth. Doesn't matter how awesome it may be, if you start to Notice that it's interfering with your peace, then it's not worth it. Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart. Not a podcast, not a social media page, not the news in the morning, not statistics.

00:05:43.040 --> 00:06:16.550
The peace of Christ has to to rule in your heart, in your mind, in your soul, in your day, in your life. And we have to do everything we can to protect that peace because it is valuable. Let's pray. Dear God, I just thank you for this peace of Christ that you give to us. Father, we know that it is the most valuable thing in our walk. It's what helps us think more clearly. It's what helps us be more kind, more loving to the people around us. It gives us patience. It gives us mercy.

00:06:16.550 --> 00:07:10.120
It gives us grace. We need the peace of Christ in our lives. So Father, if we have put anything above that, we lay it down right now, throughout our day, start to show us what may be interfering with our peace, what might be interrupting the peace you're trying to give us, what might be bringing in fear more than it brings in peace. Whatever it is, God, we lay it down. We let it go. Because the peace of Christ will rule in our hearts and in our souls and in our minds. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
