Invitation To Pray

Have you ever wondered why prayer sometimes feels more like an obligation than an invitation? In today’s episode, host Lauren Alessi welcomes us into a fresh perspective as we explore what it truly means to be invited into conversation with God. Together, we’ll discover how prayer isn’t just a religious duty, but a deeply personal experience—where God not only listens, but promises to reveal things beyond our understanding. Lauren and the Alessi Family guide us through beautiful questions about our own prayer habits and encourage us to embrace prayer as a relationship, not a ritual.

You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1266. Today's Devo is called Invitation to Pray. Hey there.
00:00:10.560 --> 00:00:36.729
We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Hello, everyone, my name is Lauren Alessi and I will be your host for this week.
00:00:37.049 --> 00:01:28.569
I'm really excited to be hosting this week because you guys have reached out, left some awesome feedback. Any feedback you have, we always love to hear it. And it's kind of ironic, but someone we heard from a couple people that we. You would love to hear basically verses and feedback on how to pray about prayer. And it was a little bit ironic to me because I'm like, yeah, this is a podcast specifically about prayer, and yes, it's about the Bible, but we do end every day with a prayer. So it is important that we speak on prayer and we touch the topic of prayer. So thank you for your feedback. I want to dedicate this entire week specifically to prayer. What God says about prayer, what the Bible says about prayer. Um, and yeah, let's jump into it. So today's verse of the day is Jeremiah 33. 3.
00:01:28.569 --> 00:01:53.680
And it says this, call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. So this verse is beautiful because one, we're seeing that God is inviting us into a conversation with Him. Prayer is not just something that, you know, it's a religious duty. We go to church. We, you know, we have to pray because we're in church and we're in the building.
00:01:53.680 --> 00:02:08.319
So then we have to, you know, now pray. No, but it's. It's not something we do because we're religious, but it's actually a personal invitation to talk with God, to connect with our Creator. And then not only this, in this verse do we see.
00:02:08.479 --> 00:02:15.199
He promises not only to listen to us when we talk to him, but to reveal things that are beyond what we could understand.
00:02:16.469 --> 00:03:03.150
So call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. The Creator of the universe, the God that we serve, is not only promising to listen to us when we call out to him, but he's promising to reveal things to us beyond what we could understand and think about that Verse in the Bible that says, ask and I will answer, Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be open to you. So prayer is not this religious duty that we have to do. We have to pray because if we don't, you know something's going to take us over. No, like, prayer is something we get to do. We get to talk to God. And then also God listens back to us. God cares about what we have to say to him. God cares about the things. God listens to us.
00:03:03.629 --> 00:03:39.210
And I think that's really important. And maybe right now you're listening to this and you're like, I don't know. You don't know the kind of prayers I've prayed. You don't know how long I've been praying for this specific thing. Keep on listening. This week we're going to touch on all those things, I promise. I have studied a lot of prayer specifically, because I've been in those shoes before. I've had those questions before. And the Bible answers all of those questions about prayer. But I want to leave you with these questions. One, what keeps you from praying more consistently if you're not someone who's talking to God every day? Praying more consistently, What. What keeps you from doing that?
00:03:39.449 --> 00:03:54.289
Think about that a little bit. And two, how does knowing God wants to speak to you? How does knowing that God actually wants to speak and listen to you specifically, you change your view of prayer? Maybe you haven't thought about that before.
00:03:54.289 --> 00:05:06.829
Maybe you've never thought that, oh, I pray because God wants to speak to me. I pray because God wants to listen to me. Pray because God wants to know the things on the inside of me. Just know that that is true, that God cares about you individually and specifically. And how does that change your view of prayer? Let's pray. Let's close this beautiful week out. Let's close this beautiful day out about prayer with prayer. And let's say this, Lord, we thank you so much, God. That prayer which you created, God, is not just something that we do because we have to do it, Lord, but it's because you want to invite us into a personal relationship with you, God, through prayer. So, Lord, help us. Help us respond to that today, God. And not do the average prayers, the things we usually pray for, God, but let us pray personal prayers, God, the things on the inside of us that we know we need to give to you. The things on the inside of us that we've been longing to pray for, God, help us lay that down and truly give that to you today. God open our hearts. Let us hear your voice. God and all of those questions about prayers. God, let us just lay that at your feet and enter into a personal prayer relationship with you, Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
00:05:07.709 --> 00:05:28.699
