00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:22.000
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1426. Today's episode is called in the Moment. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:47.689
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone, My name is Lauren Alessi and I am your host for this week. It is Christmas week. I hope you all have as much work off as possible or as much school off as possible or whatever it is that you are looking forward to this week.
00:00:47.689 --> 00:01:10.629
I just hope it is a wonderful week for you. And I actually have some news because the last time I recorded was a couple weeks ago, but I'm actually engaged. I've been dating someone. We met early on in the year. We've been dating for about six months and we got engaged. His name is Daniel.
00:01:10.629 --> 00:01:18.189
He is now my fiance. He is my dream man. He is the best gift I think God ever gave me.
00:01:18.189 --> 00:01:32.609
And I just wanted to announce to our audience that, yes, Gabby's wedding has passed, but now my wedding is coming and I have no idea what I'm doing. So any advice, any help is greatly appreciated.
00:01:32.609 --> 00:01:40.849
But actually, that's a little bit of what I'm talking about today. I've never shared my personal story with the My Morning Devo audience.
00:01:40.849 --> 00:01:55.810
I've always kept it a little bit private. But in theme of talking about Christmas and in theme of talking about, you know, gratefulness and the holidays, I thought I'd share a little bit about what it's like being present when God blesses us.
00:01:55.810 --> 00:02:22.000
So today's scripture is Psalm 46:10 and it says this. Be still and know that I am God. So I know I'm throwing a lot at you. It's the Christmas week. Christmas is literally coming up. I'm announcing that I'm engaged. But I actually have a theme that I'd like to talk about this whole week, and that is being present when God gives us our blessings that we've prayed for.
00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:29.560
And if you don't know my story, if you don't know how God has blessed me, just know this. I have prayed for this season for a long time.
00:02:29.560 --> 00:03:25.090
I have sown towards this season for a long time. And honestly, I've been praying for a husband. I've been praying for the right man to come into my life for quite a while now. I haven't been somebody who has dated a lot. I really wasn't into the big dating scene. I really wasn't somebody who like had serious, multiple relationships. That just wasn't me. No knock against anybody. That just wasn't my jam. But I just knew that God had someone very special out there waiting for me. And I just kept praying for him. I kept praying that God would bring him at the right time. And early on in this year, God brought him through. Weirdly enough, the gym, which we met at the gym, would you believe it? And he was a Christian. He's a godly man. And I'm a Christian. I'm a godly person. And we met and we got to talking and we started dating. And then now we're getting married because we just know.
00:03:25.090 --> 00:03:36.689
But that's my story. But I want to say today's verse because this there's been many moments while waiting for God to bring the one into my life where I didn't know what to do.
00:03:36.689 --> 00:03:54.469
I didn't know what steps to take. And I was really like, okay, another year around the sun. Single. Another year, another holiday. Completely alone. And I have to see my friends have their partners, or I get to see my family all have their spouses or their boyfriends or their girlfriends.
00:03:54.469 --> 00:03:58.710
And I get to see all of them basically have somebody.
00:03:58.710 --> 00:04:20.980
And I have to be alone. And that was really tough. That really wasn't easy. And I know maybe there's some people listening to this and that's you this year. And I just encourage you with this. Don't feel the need to take action. Don't feel the need to have to do something. Just listen to Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that he is the Lord. Be still and know that I am God.
00:04:20.980 --> 00:04:29.060
Because I will just say this. I am so shocked at what God has done in my life this year. And God does not pick favorites.
00:04:29.060 --> 00:04:47.449
If he can do it for me, he will do it for you. And whatever you are waiting for in prayer, praying for God cannot wait to reveal it to you. And I know it's Christmas week, we're still going to get to Christmas. But please don't go through the holidays feeling like it's a dreadful season. I have been there. It's not worth it.
00:04:47.449 --> 00:05:45.290
Enjoy the holidays. Think about the best. Enjoy your family, enjoy your friends. Just make the best of what you have. But ultimately, just be still, be present. Be in the moment and know that he is God. Have a wonderful week, everybody. Let's pray Dear Lord, I thank you so much God for what you've done in my life personally Lord because I know Lord that it encourages others Lord as they hear my story God and Lord I just pray right now that it does fill others cups and it encourages them Lord that if you did it for me you will do it for them Lord and God I just pray right now for every person maybe struggling to faith face the holidays alone or maybe just struggling to face the holidays period, God that you fill their cups Lord, that you give them love, joy, peace, patience, kindness. You give them all of it Lord so that they can face the holidays full of joy and full of peace. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
