00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:21.199
You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1449. Today's Devo is called I Will Seek. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.199 --> 00:01:03.329
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone. My name is Lauren Alessi, and you are listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Welcome to this week and I'm just glad you're listening. I hope you're taking something from it. We're talking about the book of Psalms and really just diving into how this chapter, chapter 27 is just all about worship and bringing glory to God. Going into this new year, I. I just pray that we can just get our sights set on God and just truly just focus on him and worshiping him.
00:01:03.329 --> 00:01:21.659
And I think through that, God's gonna bless us because that's how the. That's really how God works. So we're in. Psalms 27, verses 8 through 11. I'm reading out of the NIV version, and it says this. My heart says of you, seek his face. Your face, Lord, I will seek.
00:01:21.659 --> 00:01:33.739
Let's pause, let's just break down every verse so it says, your face, Lord, I will seek. I think there's something so beautiful about taking time and just being like, you know what, God? Everything else in my life is on hold.
00:01:33.739 --> 00:01:48.260
Everything else, Lord, I just want to seek your face. I just want to seek you. I want to seek only you. And that's it. Verse 9. Do not hide your face from me. Do not turn your. Your servant away in anger.
00:01:48.260 --> 00:01:55.780
You have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God, my Savior. Verse 10.
00:01:55.780 --> 00:02:00.019
Though my Father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.
00:02:00.019 --> 00:02:34.199
I think that's just so beautiful to just pause and be like, Lord, your face I seek. Don't turn away from me, God, please, I need you. I know I've done wrong, Lord, but don't turn away from me. I need you, Lord. Even. Even though people around me, God, turn away from me, Lord. You are my helper. You will receive me. You will forgive me. It's bringing glory to him. It's worshiping him. And then verse 11. Teach me your way, Lord. Lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. Teach me how to do it, God. Teach Me the ways to go. Show me what steps to take, God.
00:02:34.199 --> 00:02:51.819
And Lord, lead me in a straight path, Lord. Not to the right or to the left, Lord, because my oppressors keep trying to take me to the right or to the left. My thoughts, God, keep trying to take me to the right or to the left. My emotions. So, Lord, show me which ways to go and lead me in the right path. Lead me in a straight path.
00:02:51.819 --> 00:03:21.879
I know this feeling firsthand when you're just. Maybe it's not even a lot is happening around you. It's just maybe your own thought process is. Is trying to wear you down, maybe your own emotions. And again, like we were talking about early in the week, for some people, a new year means nothing. For some people, a new year can be a beautiful thing. But for some people, a new year can be very triggering. Like, really another year, and I'm getting older and nothing's changed.
00:03:21.879 --> 00:03:40.090
Or another year is passing, I'm getting older, and God still hasn't brought the one into my life. I remember feeling that exact same way. And I told you guys how God has really blessed me this year. And I'm. I'm just so overwhelmed by God's goodness. And we'll talk more about that tomorrow. But.
00:03:40.090 --> 00:03:51.889
But maybe that's you right now that you're like, my thought process is wearing me down. Then let that be your prayer, Lord. Lord, please just stick by me. Don't turn your face from me, Lord. I need to seek you.
00:03:51.889 --> 00:03:59.289
I need to seek only you, God, not anybody else. And Lord, lead me in a straight path, God. Other people are going to fail me.
00:03:59.289 --> 00:04:10.250
Other people are going to turn away from me, Lord. But you will receive me, Lord. And God, lead me in the straight path. I was at church this past Sunday, and we have a prayer line.
00:04:10.250 --> 00:04:45.639
And I wasn't serving on the prayer line, but I did what every church kid does. You notice that somebody's waiting. And I was like, okay, yeah, I'll jump in. I'll, you know, I got this. I'll pray for somebody. And I asked for, you know, how can I pray for you? How can I be there for you? And it was a young girl. And she goes, I just really need help because I feel the presence of God so strongly in my life, but I don't want to mess it up. I don't want to lose him. And I was like, okay. And it's so funny because you so quickly want to jump into, like, conversations in those moments and be like, well, I could tell you how to do it. But you can't. I can't be that person.
00:04:45.639 --> 00:05:18.790
I just have to pray for them. And I just began to pray, Lord, give her wisdom, give her, give her rest. But I could so relate to where she was at that you could feel the peace of God. You could feel his wisdom and his rest resting upon you. And you're almost like, I don't want to make a mistake that's gonna take me away from God. I just want God to be by my side. And it's almost like I just want God to make every decision for me so that I don't mess up again and I don't feel away from God. Well one guys, you're never far from God unless you cut him out of your life.
00:05:18.790 --> 00:05:26.180
The Lord is always near. He's always near to the brokenhearted. He's always near to you. And he's always close even when you call on him.
00:05:26.180 --> 00:05:38.899
So only you can make yourself further from God. But two Let this be your prayer. Lord, your face is the only one that I seek. Your path is the only one that I seek.
00:05:38.899 --> 00:05:50.040
Other people, they're going to try to lead me down not so straight paths, Lord. But Lord, I want to seek you, God. I want to seek the path you have for me. God, do not reject me, Lord, don't forsake me.
00:05:50.040 --> 00:05:53.879
Other people, they reject me. But Lord, you receive me.
00:05:53.879 --> 00:06:01.480
And let that be your prayer this year. Let that be your prayer going into this year. And get your eyes towards Jesus.
00:06:01.480 --> 00:06:13.160
Seek him. Don't seek the world. Don't seek your desires, don't seek your emotions. Seek the Lord and everything else will follow. Seek his kingdom and everything else will follow.
00:06:13.160 --> 00:06:28.350
Let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you so much, God. Lord, I just want to thank you for how you work, God. You just want us to get our eyes on you, God, and only you to follow wisdom and righteousness.
00:06:28.350 --> 00:06:39.959
And Lord, you make everything else known to us anyways, God, but you don't want us focused on the wrong things. You want us focused on you. You want us to seek you. So. So Lord, help us do that.
00:06:39.959 --> 00:06:46.920
And Lord, help us do that in a way that glorifies you and worships you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
00:06:46.920 --> 00:07:08.839
