00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:21.359
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1447. Today's Devo is called I Will Not Fear. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:43.488
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Hello everyone, my name is Lauren Alessi and I am your host for this week. And this week we will be just simply reading out of the book Psalm 27. I'm reading in the NIV version if you want to follow along.
00:00:43.488 --> 00:01:04.579
But recently I was just like, I don't know what Bible plan to do. I don't know what Bible plan to follow along. I don't know. I was just kind of like, I don't know what to read in the Bible. I know that sounds kind of funny, but I was like, I'm just going to play Psalms. I'm going to listen to Psalms, I'm going to read Psalms. I do audio Bible. That's why I said play, by the way.
00:01:04.579 --> 00:01:40.510
But I'm just going to just sort of soak in the book of Psalms. And this book, Psalm 27, like just sort of came to life. It was like a book of worship, a book of lifting God up and, and it was just so beautiful and it just hit me and I just really wanted to speak on it this week. I think it's such a great book to reflect on going into the new year. And it's kind of just a great book to keep in your back pocket. It's one of those verses and books that's like you can use at any age, anytime. It's just beautiful. It's like poetry. I love it.
00:01:40.510 --> 00:02:07.290
So today we will be reading. Yesterday we read out of verses 1 and 2. Today we will be reading Psalms 27, 3 and 4. And it says this. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear. Though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. Come on somebody.
00:02:07.290 --> 00:02:28.370
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. I mean, this is what I mean by this book is just like poetry to gaze on the Beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. As we mentioned, like, yesterday, going into this year is completely new for me.
00:02:28.370 --> 00:02:32.449
I am getting married this year, which is so exciting, and I love it.
00:02:32.449 --> 00:02:58.370
But going into every year before this one, I have gone into every new year completely single. I've never been in, like, a serious relationship. This is my first serious relationship, and I wouldn't have it any other way, and I love it. But New Year's would almost be, like, triggering for me because it's like another year and nobody came along another year and nothing, no change, nothing.
00:02:58.370 --> 00:03:13.289
And it would be a little triggering because you would see people move on and their. Their new years are changing and their, you know, families are changing and they're. They have a spouse or they have a whatever. And it was like another new year and nothing changed for me.
00:03:13.289 --> 00:03:43.360
And everyone was like, happy New Year. And I was like, I don't want this to be another new year that I'm getting older, time is passing, and nothing's changing in my life. And I don't want that to sound sad because, look, God has blessed me so much. I am almost in shock that I am going into this year and now I'm planning a wedding. It's like, what can God do in a year? I'm just so shocked. I'm so overwhelmed. I've never known this feeling, and I just think God is so. I'm overwhelmed by God's goodness.
00:03:43.360 --> 00:04:01.919
But maybe that's you going into this new year. Maybe you're triggered by seriously another new year and God hasn't brought the right one into my life. Or seriously, another new year and I still can't get pregnant. Or another new year and I'm still struggling with my family issues and nothing's going right.
00:04:01.919 --> 00:04:06.319
Whatever that may look like. Just. Just meditate in this verse.
00:04:06.319 --> 00:05:23.660
Meditate in this book of the Bible, because ultimately those feelings suck. Those feelings are the worst. But just meditate on this verse. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear. Even though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. Please don't get insecure going into this new year. You never know what God could do in this new year for you. So you know what? Like this verse says, go into it confident. Don't go into it with fear. Go into it with boldness and confidence. Why? Because the Lord gives us confidence. So though an army besieged against us, our hearts will not fear. And though a war may break out against us, even then we will be confident. And you know what? Let's ask this from the Lord, and let this be the one thing that we seek, that we may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives. That just sounds so beautiful. And I remember even just coming to this conclusion of if that's all I have to dwell in God's beauty to dwell in the house of the Lord, then that's enough. And let that be our conclusion. And also just a practical little thing. If you're, if you're asking something from God, if you're sowing towards something specific, whether it be a baby, whether it be a house, whether it be a spouse, someone you're praying for specifically.
00:05:23.660 --> 00:06:49.610
I'm still trying to catch up to what has happened in my life. But I went several New Years wondering when God was going to bring the right one into my life. Never had a boyfriend on a New Year's or on a Christmas. And honestly, I have actually never ever gone into a Christmas with a boyfriend because this year I went into it with a fiance and his name is Daniel and I love him. So I'm just saying, just don't be shocked that when God does come through, how fast he comes through for you, because God wants to answer your prayers and God wants to come through for you and he's. No, he doesn't have any favorites. If he did it for me, he absolutely will do it for you. So anyways, just a little snippet to encourage you and give you hope. Let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you so much for your word, God. We thank you for an opportunity to worship through your word God and say things like, yeah, God, we're going to be confident. Even though a war is waging out against us, even though an army is against us, Lord, we're going to remain confident in you and put our trust in you, God. So Lord, help us actually do that. Going into this new year, maybe we are facing some battles, maybe we are facing some actual wars, Lord. But Lord, give us the confidence and Lord, give us the ability to seek you and only you and not fear. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
