Hold On To Faith

What keeps us anchored when it feels like everything around us is falling apart? In today’s episode, host Gaby Calatayud invites us to explore the essential practice of holding on to faith, even in the midst of life’s storms. Together, we’ll reflect on Paul’s words to 1 Timothy 1:18-19, learning how to remember God’s promises, stay steadfast during disappointment, and trust that the storm will eventually pass. This episode will encourage us to cling to the faith we have in Jesus, finding gratitude and hope even when it’s difficult.
Join our community in prayer and devotion as we lift each other up, trusting God to help us hold onto faith and find peace, no matter what challenges we face.

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:21.440
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1374. Today's Devo is called hold on to Faith. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.679 --> 00:00:32.740
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Well, welcome back and happy Thursday, everybody.
00:00:33.219 --> 00:00:50.259
Man, this. This week of DeVos has so encouraged me and empowered me and I hope it's done the same for you. I'm Gabby Kaladiud, your host for the week, and I hope that this has just been a blessing as we are starting to come to a close on the topic of faith in overcoming October.
00:00:51.060 --> 00:01:01.850
And I wanna read to you a verse in first Timothy, but to give you some context of this, this is Paul writing to Timothy, the young man that he brought up to be over the church.
00:01:02.570 --> 00:01:06.409
And he is giving Timothy his final encouragement.
00:01:06.730 --> 00:01:39.379
And he is encouraging Timothy in his role because he understands that the role that Timothy's in, which is ministry and raising up a church and helping the believers and being a shepherd of that group, he, he knows that that can be very disheartening. He knows that people also have lost the faith when it comes to leading other people, because leading people is difficult. So Paul leaves Timothy with this encouragement and he says this in, in verse 18, it's chapter one, verse 18 through 19.
00:01:40.180 --> 00:02:02.109
Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them, you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
00:02:02.668 --> 00:02:21.009
You see, Paul is telling Timothy, timothy, there have been prophecies and words spoken about you. And what you need to do in this time, go back to what people said about you, go back to what the Lord has said about you so that you can fight the battle well and hold onto your faith.
00:02:21.490 --> 00:03:57.759
And what I like what he says here is that he says some people have rejected it, meaning some people have rejected the faith, some people have let go of their faith, but they suffered shipwreck. They suffered a shipwreck in their life. Whether this is a real shipwreck, because sometimes these are stories. So this literally could mean that they were physically in a shipwreck, or if he's saying spiritually that in regards to their faith because they let go of it. They have suffered a shipwreck of their faith. He's saying, timothy, you can't be like them. You need to hold onto your faith because God has called you to greater things. This reminds me so much of what we are going through right now, because when we look around us, and especially if you're in ministry, if you're leading a family, if you are maybe working at a really difficult job, you look around and you go, because of the issues that I'm dealing with, God, I just kind of want to let go. God, is it worth it, Lord? In light of recent events in the world, is it even worth, Lord, holding onto the faith? And if we're not careful, we will let go of the thing, the, the secret weapon that God has given us. We'll let go of the faith. We'll let go of believing in God, we'll let go of trusting in God. And, and this even speaks to someone that maybe you've lost a loved one or maybe you've. You're experiencing disappointment in your life. All of those trials and those struggles will cause us to go, God, is this even worth it? God, are you even working? God, are you even good?
00:03:58.639 --> 00:04:05.800
But just like Paul was encouraging, Timothy, I encourage you today to hold on to your faith.
00:04:07.000 --> 00:04:10.680
Remember the words that God spoke to you.
00:04:11.400 --> 00:04:14.680
Remember the answered prayers that God did for you.
00:04:15.080 --> 00:04:29.959
Remember the many blessings that God has brought to you. Go back to every time in your life that God came through, that God did what he promised you, and hold on to your faith. Hold on to the goodness of God.
00:04:30.120 --> 00:04:48.680
Hold on to what God said. Don't lose hope if you've lost a loved one. I am so sorry. And I'm believing the God of all peace and comfort is going to you right now, even as I speak to comfort you and to hold you in this season. But keep holding on to your faith.
00:04:48.920 --> 00:05:22.329
Keep holding on that God is good. If you're experiencing a heartbreak, a loss, a disappointment, don't let go of your faith. Hold on to the faith that is in Christ Jesus. Because, guys, we believe and we know that God will come through. If you're watching the news and you keep asking yourself, God, what. What has the world come to? As believers, we have to. We have to get confident and know that we know what the world will come to. Just read your word. Go to the end of it.
00:05:23.050 --> 00:05:44.730
Go to even the problems that the disciples faced. Guys, we know as believers what the world will come to and what we need to do right now. Is hold on to the faith that is in Jesus Christ. Even if everyone around us rejects it, we hold on to it. So this is my encouragement to you today. Hold on to faith.
00:05:45.290 --> 00:06:37.310
Hold on to it like an umbrella in a crazy hurricane that when all heck is breaking loose, you can hold onto your faith and say, God, you're gonna come through for me. You know why? Because the storm will pass, the chaos will subside, the conflict will resolve, and you can still have your faith with you. Father, we thank you, we thank you, we thank you. I just pray for anybody that's going through a storm, anybody that's going through chaos and conflict, Lord, that you would help them hold on to their faith. God, that you would help them hold on. Lord, let them find one thing, even one thing in their life that they can be grateful for and hold on their faith for. God. Let it just be one good and perfect gift. Let it be whatever is lovely or admirable. God, whatever it is, let them hold on to that today and hold on to faith. Because it will pass.
00:06:37.310 --> 00:06:40.439
In the name of of Jesus, it will subside.
00:06:41.160 --> 00:07:07.160
And God, you're going to lead us through it. In Jesus name I pray. Amen and amen. So there you have it, your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.
