You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1404.

00:00:04.160 --> 00:00:37.729
Today's Devo is called Heavenbound. Hey there. We're the Alessi's A Ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning everyone and happy Thursday. I am going to go a little heavy today, a little deeper, but just bear with me and I hope this doesn't make you cry.

00:00:37.729 --> 00:00:44.810
If I cry, then just cry with me and we can cry together in this wonderful day. So let's do it. Colossians

00:00:44.810 --> 00:01:02.469
27 in the ESV version says to them, God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of his glory, of this mystery which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. If that doesn't make sense, I'll simplify it.

00:01:02.549 --> 00:02:02.329
It pretty much says, God chose us to make known a mystery which is Christ in us, the hope of glory. I lost my grandfather about five years ago and I miss that man all the time. He was hilarious. He was this New Yorker, Italian, Brooklyn born and raised, grandfather and I loved him and he was so much fun. And it wasn't just him, but it was what he also represented to our family because we started in ministry because of him. He started a church in Miami 60 years ago. I think it was 50 years ago, and the church is still standing and my father now pastors that church. We took the building and now it's ours. But we would not have our second campus in our church if it wasn't for my grandfather. I would not have this calling on my life for ministry if it wasn't for my grandfather.

00:02:02.969 --> 00:02:43.340
And when he passed, it was a very strong marker in my family and in my life. That was now gone and it was really hard. It actually I did not know it was going to hit me that hard. But losing a family member is awful. It is just the hardest thing to walk through. And if you're walking through that today, then I'm praying for you and I'm praying that the Lord will heal your heart. But something hit me the other day when I was thinking about my grandfather and it hit me that when I go to heaven in the way, way future, I will see him again. And yes, he's gone from earth.

00:02:43.419 --> 00:03:05.180
He's gone from this life but he's in heaven waiting for me and he's probably there with his family that passed away and I get to see him in the future. And it made me think about all of us who have experienced even greater loss. When we all go to heaven, we will see them again and we will be united with them.

00:03:05.900 --> 00:03:25.270
And. And that is something to be grateful for it. I can't believe that we get to have this relationship with a God who just makes life so perfect that even if it is imperfect, we are promised a perfect life in heaven.

00:03:26.069 --> 00:03:29.909
And this is the next level that I want to take you guys to.

00:03:30.229 --> 00:03:57.319
This is what I think is crazy. The Bible says in Colossians that God is making known to us the riches of his glory. This mystery which is Christ in you. The hope of glory, the riches of God's glory is not that you get to see your family again. It's not that you're healed, it's not that you're whole. The riches of God's glory.

00:03:58.110 --> 00:05:48.600
This gift that we get from God is Christ in us. That is the hope of glory. Which means what's going to be greater than seeing our family and friends in heaven is to finally be sealed with Christ in us and to be in perfect glory with Him. It's a heavy topic, so I'll just simplify it with this. To be with Jesus. Jesus face to face is going to be our final goal. And I'm grateful that I get to walk with him right now and I get to hear him, I get to pray to him, I get to talk to him, I get to learn from him, and one day I actually get to meet him. But right now, life is so good with him. I cannot imagine what life will be like when I actually get to see Him. It's crazy. It's too deep for a morning prayer, Devo. But we're going there and I'm just going to pray for you all that your eyes will be open to this revelation. And if you're going through grieving, that this will bring you comfort, that this will bring you healing, that this will bring you peace. Today, let's pray. God, we just thank you that even though we experience loss here on earth, we will not experience loss in heaven. In fact, we will experience the greatest gain of our entire life to be with you, to walk with you in perfect unity, to have Christ in us, the hope of glory. So right now, God, our mission as we wait for that day is to worship you and to share with others the hope that you are in our lives and we worship you today Father, and we thank you. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
