You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1405. Today's Devo is called Grateful For You.
00:00:07.040 --> 00:00:26.160
Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.
00:00:26.160 --> 00:00:48.840
This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody and happy Friday. I just want to spend today sharing, number one, the story behind me finding my house, and number two, my gratitude for all of you. I love you all so much. So I'm reading from Proverbs
00:00:48.840 --> 00:01:18.730
7 in the ESV version, and it says, I'm proclaiming Thanksgiving aloud and telling all your wondrous deeds. I love how this verse says aloud that I'm not just writing them down or I'm not just thinking about what I'm grateful for, but I'm actively saying what I'm grateful for, because there's a lot to be grateful for. And I would encourage you, if you sit down with your family at the dinner table tonight, if you hang out with your friends, if you're with your spouse, just start to speak.
00:01:18.730 --> 00:02:33.379
Speak about what you're so grateful for and even look at them and say, hey, I'm just so grateful for who you are and who you guys are and what we have in our lives. And proclaim Thanksgiving aloud. Just like the word says. Well, I'm great, very grateful right now because I'm going to be moving out of my house at this point. I will have been moved. So I'm super pumped. What happened was just so you guys know, we spent nine months looking for a house, and the average time to find a house is like three months. Well, it took us triple the amount of time because Miami is a very tough market to buy a house in. If you live here, then, you know, and we, of course, we had a very strict budget. We could not go over that. And we were looking, looking and looking. We put in an offer on one house, rejected it, put in an offer on another one, rejected it, put in on another one, rejected it. We ended up putting five offers on five different houses, and I think it's six if I'm, if I'm forgetting, but five to six different houses, all different neighborhoods, all different prices, some of them way too high, some of them so low.
00:02:33.379 --> 00:02:51.710
We were going to be saving money and we got rejected on all of them. We probably looked at 45 to 50 houses, and it was just so disappointing. I remember it was about that Saturday. We had been rejected on the final house that we were just trying to get into.
00:02:51.710 --> 00:03:13.629
At this point. We didn't even really love it, but it was good enough and we put the offer in. They rejected us. We even went back to them and said, please, we'll give you more. And they said, no, sorry. And it was a hard, closed door. And I remember that Saturday, my husband said, come on, we got to keep looking at houses. And I felt. Felt like I was being tortured because I could not look at another house.
00:03:13.629 --> 00:04:04.979
And he just said, we gotta stay in the game. We looked at some. It was so disappointing. It was raining. It was just a sad movie scene. And I'm sitting there in our living room with a blanket around me, watching tv, all depressed, all sad. And I'm just thinking, I don't want to do this anymore. Our house. We're going to close on our house in a couple of weeks. Someone else is going to move into our house, and I'm just going to go live under a bridge because I don't want to do this anymore. I'm done looking at houses. As I was laying there on the couch, our realtor texted us as a little link to another house that just went up for sale down the street from my parents. And I didn't even want to look at it. I just thought, no, I'm done. I'm giving up. I am done. Well, my husband said, hey, this looks nice. Well, Sunday was the next day.
00:04:04.979 --> 00:04:12.020
And I told him in the middle of church, hey, babe, you go look at the house. I don't want to go look at it. I'm taking a break.
00:04:12.020 --> 00:05:12.240
Well, that didn't work. No one ever listens to me in my family. So I went anyways. And as I was walking into the house, I put my door, my hand on the door handle, and I felt it immediately. This is my house. I'm going to be living here, guys. It is everything that I had on my checklist and more. It's down the street from my parents. It has a pool. It has a pool. It has these gorgeous trees. It has a Spanish Mediterranean look to the front, which is a prayer I didn't even want to ask God for because I thought it was too much. But God came through and he gave it to us. We were the second couple to look at the house. We put the offer in that afternoon. They. We went back and forth. They accepted our offer and they had eight other appointments set up that week for people to come and look at the house. They canceled all the appointments because this family said no, we want them to have the house. It's done. So God blessed us. It happened.
00:05:12.240 --> 00:05:31.110
I got the miracle. I can't believe it. And listen, if you're still waiting for something and you're giving up, just expect God to do it right as you're giving up. And do not give up. Keep going, keep pushing, and God will make it happen. And you get to stand here and say, God, thank you for the miracles that you've done in my life.
00:05:31.110 --> 00:06:15.899
And I want to again just say thank you all for listening to our my morning DeVos. Thank you for contributing, thank you for saving, for sharing. I can't believe that we get to do this. I can't believe that Alison gave us this podcast years ago. It is truly an honor and it is a privilege. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Let's pray. God, I just thank you for the miracles that you are doing in our lives and you are about to do. Father, if anybody feels like they're ready to give up, I pray that you will give them an extra jolt of energy to keep going, to keep believing, and to stay in faith. Because, Father, you will always complete what you started. And we stand on your word and we stand on you, Jesus. And in Jesus name, we all pray. Amen. And amen.
00:06:15.899 --> 00:06:37.420
