00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:10.400
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1410. Today's episode is called Grateful for His Purpose. Hey there.

00:00:10.400 --> 00:00:44.170
We're the Alessi's a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Hello everyone, my name is Lauren Alessi and I have been your host for this week. And it has been a great week. It's been an honor. And also a little like, wow, that's a lot of pressure to be the host for Thanksgiving week.

00:00:44.170 --> 00:01:33.010
And it is the day after Thanksgiving. I hope that you are finding all the deals and getting some good deals on your Christmas gifts and finding some good discounts. And I hope you're also resting because I know Thanksgiving can be a lot. I hope you are eating leftovers and you also slept in a little bit and you're just enjoying the holiday and enjoying the people around you. But today we're talking about being grateful for God's purpose. And again, these are just the little things that maybe we, we take for granted. We don't think about a lot and we don't remember to be grateful for. So today's verse of the day is Ephesians 2: 10. And it says this. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

00:01:33.010 --> 00:01:37.489
Can I just say what a privilege it is to be God's handiwork.

00:01:37.489 --> 00:01:41.010
What a privilege it is to be considered a part of God's.

00:01:41.010 --> 00:01:45.890
I don't know, like one of God's employees. Almost like, that's so cool.

00:01:45.890 --> 00:02:00.590
He doesn't need me to be anything. I'm not good enough to be God's handiwork, but he sees me as such. So what a privilege, what an honor to be a part of God's handiwork. And not just that, but we're created in Christ Jesus to do good works.

00:02:00.590 --> 00:02:16.520
What an honor that I am seen as created in Christ Jesus to do good things, to do good works. Not that we're perfect, but I'm seen as created in Christ Jesus to do do good things. And then I'm part of God's handiwork.

00:02:16.520 --> 00:02:24.960
And then it says this, which God prepared in advance for us to do. So here's the thing. God has a purpose.

00:02:24.960 --> 00:03:27.669
God has A plan. And we know this. And a lot of times we can get so stuck in the nitty gritty of God's plan. Like, I don't know what to do for lunch because I don't want to get stuck setting apart for God's plan. Or I don't know what, what job to take, right? Like, we can get so stuck in the. The small things that we have trouble making decisions. Like, I don't know what job to take. I don't know what person to date, because we don't want to mess up God's plan. But here's what this verse says. God prepared in advance for us to do good works and God's handiwork. So let's just thank him for that before we get caught up in the what ifs and hows. And let's just say, thank him for that right now. Lord, thank you so much for inviting me, inviting us into your plan, into your purpose. Because every day God invites us into his story. And that story is to bring light into the world, to bring beauty into the world, to bring salvation into the world. And with that, it brings love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, all those things to bring that into the world. So thank you, Lord, for considering us.

00:03:27.669 --> 00:03:38.710
Lord, thank you for your purpose and just being grateful for God. Thank you that you even have a purpose. What if he just created us just to be here on this earth and be like, look at my awesome creation.

00:03:38.710 --> 00:04:44.470
But no, he wanted to create us to have a purpose and then invited us in to be a part of his purpose. Your purpose isn't just in what you do, but it's in who you are. And we are God's children. We are his beloved creation. So, Lord, we just thank you, God, we thank you for that. Sorry, that wasn't the beginning of my prayer. I'm just, you know, going both, doing both at the same time. But when we are just so focused on what is God's plan for me, what is his will for me, we can often forget to be grateful. And look, I'm a victim to that. I'm not perfect. And by all means, I'm not perfect. I can get stuck in the what decision should I make next? Instead of just being like, you know what, God, I'm in a season of waiting right now, and I don't know what decision to make. But Lord, thank you that you even have me in a season of waiting, God, because that means you have a plan and a purpose for me. That requires a season of waiting. And let us just be grateful that God sees all of us not just as people on a beautiful earth that he's created, but he sees us as his handiwork, as helpers to get his purpose fulfilled.

00:04:44.470 --> 00:05:21.079
So I just pray that this beautiful Thanksgiving week, that this verse speaks to you like it spoke to me. And let us pray. Dear God, I thank you so much for your word, God, and how it challenges us, how it sharpens us. But Lord, let us remember to not just be focused on the plan and the purpose, but let us remember to be grateful, God, that you are a God of purpose. You have a purpose for each and every one of us, God. And thank you God, for considering our plan, for considering us God, for considering who you've made us to be, God. And involving us in your creation, involving us in your purpose, God.

00:05:21.079 --> 00:05:36.370
And we just submit our plan, submit our purpose to you, God. Because we are your handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. And we are excited to see the end result in which you've prepared in advance for us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:05:36.370 --> 00:05:58.160
